@Noel I'm in the 'salesforce' camp 😁 I disagree with your statement the default camera system is easier, no matter how many times you try to explain why it is. Even for setting up just a couple of views per aircraft I find ChasePlane to be more user friendly. I'm glad there are tools like ChasePlane available for those of us who struggle with the default system. I'm glad we can all use what suits us best.

I would hate to blame Chase plane, but after I have installed it, MSfs2024 suddenly won't let me escape out of it. Meaning pressing the Esc key usually is the key to go back to the previous side or esc back to desktop etc, but now it's gone away so the only way to get out of the sim is to ctrl+alt+del to shut it down. Funny enough I can start it without problems and set up a flight and fly, but I just can't see any menus or anything that was there before. As I said, I don't know if CP is the reason, but I have a feeling that it might be. Next move is to uninstall CP and see if that helps. Is that something that any of you have encountered, or do you have a suggestion to what has happend?

That is a new one for me. has not happened, at least not yet.

That never happened to me either...

No, it isn't CP who is the problem cause even after uninstalling it, the problem remains. Ok, then I have MS2020 I can use, or so I thought, but that one refused to start and wanted me to sign into the Xbox account (again), but then just froze there with a spinning wheel and I had to ctrl alt delete out of it.

The only one of my sims that seem to work is Aerofly 4 so maybe I'll have to do with that :-) I have a suspicion now that it may be Steam causing the trouble, but why does Aerofly 4 work then, since all three are bought on Steam.?

I know it's not a "before buying Chase Plane" subject anymore, but instead of starting a new thread I hoped it is allright to continue here, otherwise please let me know.

Well the saga continues 😀After un and reinstalling it (MS2024) a second time, it looks like it's working again, apart from I have to reassign my key settings. And suddenly the air traffic is shown as a pilot with a hat instead of airplanes until I click on one of them, then it changes to an airplane with it's flight info.

The next step will be to install Chase plane again, and hope it doesn't mess it up (again)

Absolutely agree with you. I despise the 2024 default camera system and finally dropped the money for Chaseplane. Definitely one of my better purchases, IMO. Of course as they say, your mileage may vary.

These uber simple assignments apply to all planes and are automatically restored if you need to reinstall the sim. Sadly, the OP has gone down a long road of reinstalling MSFS and who knows what else by the time he gets it all working as desired. Like many things in MSFS it isn't always obvious to see what you're supposed to do I'll grant you that, but again by comparison to what is required to LEARN, INSTALL and SETUP, and USE CP, it's just no contest the default system is far simpler and does not entail a complete other layer to do what it already does very well.

It's okay Bert all good. My spouse and I were in Amsterdam in May of this year and really enjoyed a 140km bike ride from Zaandam>Harlem>Leiden. I really love The Netherlands it was the 3rd time there.

Gotta say, compared to the learning curve on CP, the default commands are sooooo easy and quick to set up.

...and that's coming from someone who absolutely despises the default controls system. The default controls system could not be more cryptic, cumbersome, and unnecessarily confusing. And yes, the LOAD CUSTOM CAMERA and SAVE CUSTOM CAMERA commands are indeed a part of that default controls system....and yet I still think setting up those two commands are far easier than configuring and learning CP especially if you're starting from ground zero like the OP. I feel for you OP on having to reinstall the sim etc. etc. but I think you may have had more problems going on with your sim unrelated to CP.

I just set up the Blacksquare Commander the other day using the default two commands and it took me maybe 2-3 minutes tops. Maybe if I decide I need 11+ views THEN I would use CP on it, but I used CP for many years and would not be starting from scratch like the OP.

Chaseplane is definitely not a must have, but instead a nice to have. The thing that got me with the default camera system is you have to remember what everything is and be consistent. I used to use custom camera 0 for my main view, then like 1-3 would be looking around. From there? It was different every aircraft.

Now I open up chaseplane and everything is separated into internal, external, world and labeled. I don't have to remember what (or if) I set camera 8 to.

Plus I can easily adjust my views with the interface, either typing in the values (for example I know if I want to look left, it is -90 degrees, then +90 for right, -135 for back over the shoulder), or I can adjust with the interface and not have to remember what keys do that.

Most planes have a decent pilot view, but I almost always want to change it a little. Lift my view up or down? Maybe I want to change the angle, maybe I want to change the zoom. It is all right there. Can you do that with the default? Of course, I did it for a long time. Again, not a "must" have, but I prefer it.

Indeed. I think what some CP users are ultimately driven by, beyond what CP can do of course, is the fact it's possible to understand what's happening w/ its panels of controls to setup cameras with, whereas in default some folks understandably had difficulty following what the task involves. I remember one CP user who was blown away by the ability to fine-tune camera positions in CP because once again, it wasn't obvious in default so he didn't believe it was possible. For those still mystified by this all you need to do is open the Camera dropdown from the toolbar and move the Freelook speed value from default to very low, like 10 or 20, at which point the standard Shift A, W, S, D moves eyepoint in tiny increments so you can dial in a precise location, as with a HUD for example. But even that interface in CP is more cumbersome to use than default.

In my opinion CP is unnecessarily complicated, it is certainly not intuitive, at least I have not found it so. However... was it money well spent? Yes! Could I do without it? No! OK, it takes some time to get your head around things, but once you have done so, things fall into place. I love it!
