7 hours ago7 hr If you are just starting out binding and money is no object, Get chaseplane and save yourself a lot of time and headache. It does everything MSFS does and the more only faster and easier. Ron MSFS 2024 -Too many airplanes to name. Too many airports to name.
6 hours ago6 hr Got it for 2020. The biggest issue for me was that the default MSFS (2020 and 2024) didn't allow snapping into other views (as in FSX or P3D), but forced me to have transitions between views. Also, it couldn't disable banking effects. I got CP just because of these two things. 5 hours ago5 hr @jlund I have my custom camera views (through MSFS) mapped to an old Logitech gamepad which is zip-tied to my yoke center. That way I can easily flip between views either using the gamepad directional control (for look left right forward backward) or its buttons (for zoomed in views of various parts of the cockpit/panel).I use MSFS's command SAVE CUSTOM CAMERA VIEW (to save each view 1 thru 9) and LOAD CUSTOM CAMERA VIEW (for the gamepad).I had Chaseplane for P3D, but so far I have never felt like I needed it in MSFS. (2020 or 2024). I suppose if you want more than nine (9) views then CP would come in handy, or if you don't want to get the Spotty app and want fly-by and so forth. There are a few planes where I feel like I could use 10 or 11 views...but in general I find the nine views enough for me. Watch me change my mind next week. And is it possible to do the same on the num. keys, meaning without the Alt, but just the numbers?Jorn, let's say you're going to create views and assign buttons for a plane. I start by using the Camera dropdown in the toolbar and select Reset position in Cockpit view. Then, I adjust the view to my liking, including if a HUD is involved, then hit Ctrl-Alt-#2, and that is assigned to a button on my yoke. And those button assignments will apply to all 5 planes I fly. To recall a saved custom camera, just Alt+the number of the saved camera, and/or program to a button. Next, I will rotate the camera view 70 degrees or so from #2 saved position, and simply hit Ctrl-Alt-#1, and that becomes my pilot's view turning his head left 70 degrees, and is assigned a different button on my yoke, one of the toggles. Etc etc until I've used all 10 custom views for the views I always use in all 5 planes. If you have to fine-tune a camera, for example centering a HUD display within the HUD, you simply select the 'Freelook speed' slider and slide it back to very low number like 10 or so. Now you can use your Shift-A,W,S,D keys to place the graphic perfectly centered in the HUD bezel. So setting up a new plane is very straightforward because you already have saved button assignments, so it's just a case of bring up the view, Ctrl-Alt-# and you're done.Honestly, if you have needs for a lot more views then the hassle of buying, learning and using a completely new system makes some sense. Of course, besides the 10 custom views you also have the default views in the default camera system, with each plane's default views created by the dev and can assign those to buttons as well as desired. I had briefly considered installing CP in 2024 but once Spotty26 arrived it solved my main concerns for a lot less money and hassle. 1 hour ago1 hr I've been making new camera views since forever at least going back to FSX days especially using notepad to edit the cameras.xml file for specific planes to fine tune X,Y,Z, angle/rotation axis and other options, making new views and using the SDK generator to assign new GUIDs when needed. I have multiple uploads on the ".to" for alternative camera views for several planes. No one knows more about modifying, creating and assigning camera views than me (sarcasm here, in case you were wondering) and fiercely resisted ChasePlane out of sheer pride in my abilities and fearsome technical prowess concerning all things Camera.Boy was I wrong. CP is sooooo much better and fluid in this regard. You add that wicked FlyBy view (sadly something that Asobo somehow managed to ignore, then finally pooched by making it this weird "experimental" thing when its such a basic and elemental concept that should be in any flight sim) and THEN throw in the Cinematic mode, where you can enable and disable your favorite views to randomly show in the cycle, and you have a real winner. There's just no getting away from what a super tool it is. End of story. Y'all can continue to debate it if you must (I recognize this is AvSim after all) but everything that needed to be said is right there in the second post of this thread. 😁You won't be disappointed, OP. Yes there is a small learning curve - take the tutorials for cryin out loud and you'll be just dandy. Edited 1 hour ago1 hr by Stoopy "That's what" - She
