  1. As PMDG support has stated, the 744 and 748 Version 1 is not officially supported on FSXSE The upcoming 744 Version 2 will be. The only other aircraft PMDG supports on FSXSE is th NGX and T7. One thing you could check is that the 3 dll entries in the dll.xml file are setup. (PMDGOptions.dll, PMDGEvents.dll, and PMDGSounds.dll). Tom Cain

    First Ever PMDG?

No it was a 777, the 767 was a separate product. There's just no pic available of it
  5. Unless you physically disconnect from the net, you are still on the internet, whether you are on the browser or not. Also FS needs the net to download weather or ATC if you are using multiplayer or VATSIM. You may not actually be doing anything on it at the moment, but you are still vulnerable to outside intrusions. That's why it's imperative you have a good firewall active at all times, backed up by AV software. Even if most of his internet usage is on a different system, if that system is connected, you are still potentially vulnerable.
  6. This is why I was hoping when DTG was licensed to the rights for FSX, they also got the code for the WIP MS Train Simulator 2 project. That was also built off the FSX engine, and was being built on the same principles. It would be a global sim with a default rail database and autogen allowing you to traverse cross continents, with the ability of adding more detailed scenery along the way, just like in FSX. No more separate unconnected routes. At the time of Aces demise, it actually looked like it was getting close to release, and looked as good if not better, then DTG TS series. There was even future plans to merge it with FSX in multiplayer mode, allowing you fly while your friend drove a train below. It would have been a natural for DTG to complete it. Alas it was not to be and DTG appears to be going in a different direction with the TS franchise.
  7. Not really, a train model DLC is about $20, and a route of 100+miles about $39. Compare that to FSX addon prices. Not to mention the periodic 50-80% sales.
  8. If they were starting from scratch with a new engine I would agree, but using the existing engine, I think this is the best approach. DTG has a strong base to run off of which will keep their cash flow going, developers will have the tools they need to grow the platform. One of the main things that killed Flight, was the lack of content from the beginning, and the inability to grow it at a fast enough pace to keep their customer base happy. To the point they resorted to releasing cockpitless aircraft.
  9. From reports over on Flghtaware, it apparently was circling the field for about 2 hours, other aircraft had diverted, due to the weather. When it finally did descend it came down at about 6000fpm from FL210. It attempted to land, but had to go around, which at some point it lost altitude and came down at about 21000fpm, according to radar.
  10. Well lets see, what we know is existing features like AI and ATC will be there, even in Flight School, whole world coverage/NAVAIDS, Orbx FTX Global out of the box, weather. So all the basics are there, unlike when MS Flight was released, which actually stripped most of those features out. So long as they provide good developer tools/SDK as they say they will, and don't lock out external developers, which they say they won't I don't see a problem for this community.
  11. That's interesting, I thought I read they were, and that the shader trick was what ASN did to make FSX Clouds appear volumetric.
  12. I think the biggest difference between performance of FSX with Clouds and P3D with clouds, are that P3D clouds are volumetric which will perform worse since they are 3D objects versus the 2D sprites in FSX. So any comparison to FSX would be comparing apples to oranges.in this case.
  13. I'm trying to figure out why people keep saying FSX today (at least with DX10/Fixer) doesn't do atmospheric scattering? It sure looks like it does to me! What am I missing?
  14. I have PROATC/X and while it still happens occasionally I get a lot less TCAS incursions in PROATC/X then I got with default, or even PFE. The issue I have with separation is on the ground. Like RC4 PROATC/X will hold ground AI to let you pass. On occasion though it does it wrong and stops them right in your way, with no room to turn around it forces me to either wait til they disappear, or just go through them. Other than that, it is the best solution out there for full ATC coverage gate to gate.
  15. Are you guys sure you have the latest PMDG T7 installed, updated early January this year? It cuts the VAS usage by about 250MB.
  16. Wrong Vista SP2 is supported until 2017, only RTM and SP1 as well as Win XP support has ended. I'm running Vista as well (32bit) , because I'm not currently in a position I can upgrade (As much as I would like to). That said Vista SP2 is not that bad so long as you run with UAC off, or make sure all your apps are installed outside of the Program Files folder. I have no CTD issues with FSX as well as FSXSE. In fact I run FSXSE with 2048 textures, extremely dense scenery and very dense Autogen and 100% WOAI traffic, with acceptable but not great frames (about 15-20FPS with DX10 + Fixer on a 3Ghz C2D) and I usually end up my flights with 500+MB VAS available with the NGX or T7 (I start out usually with about 1GB available). Bare in mind with the 3GB VAS limit with 32bit that's actually an usage of only 2.5GB.
  17. I read the specs wrong for V1.4 It will take minimum Vista 32bit, so his 64bit Vista should work, V2.x and v3.x Win7 is minimum.. I still would suggest FSX-SE for it's VAS management improvements, which will not be in P3D V1.4.
  18. That's not his problem. He bought V3.x which all 3 V3.0, 3.1, and 3.2, are not compatilbe with his Vista 64bit system. The only version of P3D that he said is compatible with a system like that is V1.x. (Which I just read the system requirements it also says only Windows 7 is supported). So that won't work either. So that means the newest version of FS available to him would be FSX-SE.
  19. If you have to settle for V1, you are better off getting your refund for V3 and go for FSX-SE, which has similar VAS management improvements like in P3D V3.x. In fact it had them first.
  20. You should check out this freeware Las Vegas scenery, it's much more detailed then default . It's for FSX, but I would think it should work in P3D as well. Also on this site are detailed Japanese cites and Hawaii. Site is in Japanese, just click on the Flight Simulator X icon on the left, and it will take you to the available sceneries. http://fsx.o.oo7.jp/index.htm
  21. You want FS2Crew or Multi Crew Experience (MCE). There are support forums for both here in the sub forum list. The main difference is FS2Crew has versions tailored for a specific aircraft, (PMDG aircraft are supported), where MCE is more generic and can be tailored to many models. It also has some extra features, like voice interaction with ATC, if you use default, radar Contact, or ProFlight Emulator (PFE).
  22. Seems to work fine on my system (FSX/DX10 fixer) Those are not caused by atmospheric scattering, those are clouds.
  23. Though DTG hasn't confirmed, based on at least one of the promo shots, it looks like it maybe the Archer. DTG has made it clear, there will be no DLC available for Flight School. It's purpose is to provide an intro to flight through virtual lessons to the uninitiated as a spring board for DFS.
