  1. LOL Good topic. Shows how different we all are.I'm still and FS9 heavy flier. Love nothing more than following all the heavy procedures, real wx, FS2crew, trackir. Since FSX I now find myself doing some small vfr prop flights in FSX. I find FSX very good for this low level stuff in some nice low, dirty weather. But mostly I fly FS9 for the serious jet time.
  2. Ground Environment X is the one we're all waiting for.
  3. Photorealistic Chile has been uploading for months and still comes. Why not do it that way? eg 200 x 100mb ?
  4. Hi, welcome.Your system will run FS9 and FSX quite well I imagine. It's pretty high end so I wouldn't worry about performance. As for XP or Vista. I believe you won't see any advantage running on Vista at the moment (in the DX9 age). There is no reason to abandon XP for gaming right now.
  5. I think FSX is great for slow GA flights in real nice weather and atmospheric environment. But my time is still very much spent in FS9 running routes in anything from 737 to 747 with all the realistic procedures and FS2crew running. FS9 got as real is it possibly could. I have yet to see anything in FSX that can top FS9. Why move away from this if you enjoy it? FS9 has only matured just now. FSX will mature in the future. Then we will enjoy it more. Think of a fine wine.
  6. All these lights are controlled by the halo.bmp file in your main texture folder. You have maybe installed some environment upgrade which has changed the halo file. Sometimes packages like Active Graphics etc write a new halo file which has a smaller spread. You can find custom halo files which produce a larger "glow". I have one from way back that does the job and I've stuck with it.
  7. Interior lights is SHIFT-L is it not ?
  8. Make SPACE your normal defrag, daily if you feel so. Use NAME once a month for a good scrub.
  9. If you never have DX10 you won't miss anything. I don't miss the jet set life style because I've never had 200 million dollars.
  10. Looks very nice. THIS is where the future of FS scenery is at, I reckon.
  11. i fully recommend GE Pro. I have also been using it for a long time. However I do think that the texture sets based on weather are severely overhyped and I have never seen any difference whatsoever when you generate sets for your differing weather consitions. The default GEpro set does me for everything.
  12. Things like TreeX and others that reduce the size of textures are always useful for a little more boost. I think a lot of the more hardcore pre SP1 tweaks are not valid anymore though.
  13. hmmm whenever I've seen that happen my card has been on the way out....What's your temps ?
  14. Sell your MS stock now, cause if they get this working the effects will be huge.
  15. I don't know why everyone tries to max everything."Everything maxed" is an illusion. You don't max visibility or cloud draw/sight distance (unrealistic) , mesh complexity or texture resuolution beyond 19m/1m (unsupported). It's pointless.
  16. You know why, because 4 years after FS9 was released, ONLY JUST NOW is it just reaching it's golden age.
  17. Works fine for me. I reckon you've got a dud rig there buddy.Sure it's got some way to mature, but I'd say it's far from throw away material. But I'm not dropping payware airlines in yet. Just GA'ing right now.
  18. Great photos. Especially the 380 cockpit shots! wow! Thanks very much.
  19. Grab the profile called "OPTIMISED FLIGHT" off the NaturalPoint website in the support section. This is the best profile for Flightsim. Really nice centre zone, stays steady for knob turning etc.
  20. That's some piece of roadworks there ! :-lol Re: the Blurries, I must one of the only UTX users who DOESN'T get them?
  21. >Another problem in RC4 was very close to MS ATC. Often times,>depending on the approach to the field, the user is left way>too far away and too high to land. This would actually happen>at KATL when approaching from the downwind direction. The>only way to get around it supposedly is to request a short>final. Fine, however, if you don't want a short final, you>won't know until you're left 25 miles from the runway,>off-course from the ILS, and 2500 feet too high to do anything>about it. That's my biggest problem with RC4 too. You're almost always left too high. That and the robotic voices, but I feel nothing can be done about that. I actually get most enjoyment with NO ATC now.
  22. I've used the Vector Clip for 6 months and never, ever had an issue with it such as interference. It's on a cap. Can't get simpler than that. That Clip Pro looks strange. Either way, you're about to enter a whole new simming world! A world from which you'll never step back. Say bye-bye to 2D panels. :-wave
  23. I'm not Seattle-knowledgable, but I can post some screens of the dt area for you if you want. I personally think the KSEA and surrounding areas look great this time.
