  1. I've been frequently experiencing this freeze on Windows 7 after upgrading to Windows 10, then having to revert to Win7 and reinstall FSX (to include all the upgrades). I had already done the UIAUTOMATIONCORE.DLL fix with no change seen. Thanks for the head up in checking AFFINITYMASK for something else to try.
  2. Fr. Bill, thanks for the clarification. It makes more sense to me now. Also I've enjoyed your many contributions to the forums over the years. GW
  3. Would someone clarify what is being meant by "starting" a default aircraft in this context?; does it mean setting an original aircraft as the default, opening the preview screen, then changing to a different model? or does it mean selecting the designated default aircraft and changing after loading it to the takeoff location? Also, in context it seems the term "default" is often used to describe one of the original aircraft aircraft that was delivered with the FSX installation, and not an add on. This would be different that referring to the aircraft designated from the installed fleet and designated as the "default." I could designate any add-on aircraft as the default.
  4. Yes, I remember Chuck Yeager's sim. How far have we come?
  5. The Lionheart Quest Kodiak is an outstanding model and comes with a floatplane configuration.
  6. +1 for the OV-10. Great visibility and decent speed.
  7. I just got the beta this week. I'm not complaining because I saw the test announcement before purchase, but after flying it for an hour, I would have rather waited for later updates before getting it. The systems still seem too incomplete for me and the operations manual is not finished. I have plenty of other planes to fly until this one is more complete
  8. Has anyone figured out if it is possible to find the individual flight hours per aircraft type? I know I can see the total number of aircraft flown, and the flight hours for the favorite aircraft (I assume the highest hour plane through the Flight interface, but are the individual numbers hidden in a file somewhere? Thanks, and happy flying
  9. It doesn't solve the problem for me. Regardless of how I setup sound devices in Window, I only get speaker output from Flight. I haven't found any Flight setup equivalent to how sound can be directed to output as may be done in FSX.
  10. Wow! 63 positive and 23 negative g's. That's a tough airframe and crew.
  11. I tried the Abacus A380 and did not like it. Like many models I've tried from this publisher, the exterior is beautiful, but the cockpit inferior. I'm not one to fly much from the exterior view, so it did not fit me well.
  12. The phrasing problem is in the use of "radial." By FAA definition, A "radial" is defined as an orientation "FROM" the station. The Instrument Flying Handbook describes an example of an aircraft north of a VOR station heading south toward the station. This was described as flying an inbound course of 180 degrees on the 360 radial. The outbound course would be 360 degrees while on the 360 radial. The instructions could have been stated correctly in several different ways; one to use the radials off the stations (as defined as the outbound directions), or to use other to use courses inbound or outbound from the station on intercept. In the last method, it is important to state whether the course is inbound or outbound relative to the station. I'm not trying to start arguments by this, but to apply as much consistency as possible with real world flying. Many Flight users have never been exposed to VOR/VORTAC navigation, so the differences would not be apparent, and that is OK. And for some, just fetching the Aerocache reword is enough however it is achieved, and that's OK with me. But for me, my goal was to practice VOR navigation procedures, and in doing so properly, reach the achievement. I could have done this without saying anything, but was hoping to contributing to improving our Flight experience. Where possible, I think we should encourage proper procedures and practices, and maybe help someone else learn a bit of airmanship. At any rate, lets have fun with Flight. GW
  13. I just looked at the Aerocache of the day for April 15 (Kalohi-Pallolo Channels) and think there is a problem with the instructions. It states to fly the intersection of Lanai VOR on the 210 radial, the Maui VOR on the 88 radial, and the Molokai VOR 285 radial. VOR radials extend away from VOR on the magnetic course indicted by the number. Therefore, the stated radials do not intersect. If the reciprocal of the given VOR radials is used, they do intersect. This would make the instruction state Lanai VOR 030 radial, Maui VOR on the 268 radial, and the Molokai VOR on the 105 radial. Just a thought. I haven't finished flying it yet, but I think I have a better chance of finding the point with the adjusted numbers. Happy flying, GW Sorry for the double post.

  15. I would not turn down the Icon if someone offered me a real one.
  16. The distance of my flight is not the autopilot criteria for me. There are other cockpit duties, like navigation and tuning radios that make it difficult to keep hands on stick. Also, there are many times I like to just look around and enjoy the scenery without having to maintain my attitude orientation from a weird view direction. I'm not looking for full FMC flight plan following; just heading and altitude set would do most of what I need in an autopilot.
  17. Great post and thread, thanks. I'm looking forward to spending some time with my grandson and Flight.Where does one get a Copilot Shirt? That was adorable.
  18. As for me, I am now glad AVSIM supports the Flight forum and do not want to see this change. I came into beta testing a hard core flight simmer and retired real world pilot expecting to see the next generation replacement for FSX. I was initially disappointed and offended with what I saw in Flight. However, as I continued to participate in the beta, I changed my mind. After I accepted it was not a replacement to FSX, but a complement, I started having fun. I am now a supporter.I still fly FSX, as well as X-plane 10, and now Flight. Even though my time for simming is a premium, I enjoy the strengths and variety offered by each and THIS helps keep my flight experience from going stale. All I have to say is, eachnofnus has to decide what we like, but perhaps give it a chance.Happy flying, GW
  19. For anyone with military aircraft sensitivities, the real Bronco is now in use for fire service support and law enforcement.
  20. This is one of the top aircraft on my virtual flight line. You will enjoy it too. It is fun to fly, as well as provides an excellent path to learn FMC and advanced flight computer planning, programming, and operation.Happy flying,GW
  21. I like the Lionheart Quest Kodiak for a single turbine. For a recip prop, I really enjoy the Carenado F33 Bonanza.

  23. I second the thanks to David for moderating the tone that was jumping into this thread. We should be able to debate points in a civil, respectful manner. For the few who have difficulty doing this, it's nice to know someone in authority is watching and responding without coming across in an over zealous, traffic cop manner.
  24. That was the same concept used for their B-52. When the interior came along, it was pretty nice. Even though pay ware, they offered it to existing exterior model owners at a discount.
  25. My wife of 42 years is very supportive of my FS involvement. Not only that, but she prefers me being home on the simulator than away from home and all over the world as it was in my real-world flying days. She always said its also better than running off to the golf course in my off-time. She is often playing her favorite computer games on her computer while I am summing. She also likes how my grandson and I spend time together summing. I couldn't ask for it to be better.
