  1. AFAIK, FS9 does not read textures greater than 1024 pixels. You'll have to resize the bitmap.
  2. Warning: 24-bit bmps are only for panels. Use 32-bit or DXT3 textures for aircraft and sceneries.
  3. I've purchased the laptop in my signature a couple of months ago. I was looking for something under 3 lbs that could run FSX-SE at least, so that I could take it to my GF's place when spending the weekend there. While this little demon can run FSX-SE and P3D v4 without any issues (I could even fly the FSL A320 in 2D), I found I can run FS9 smoothly, with lots of AI, custom sceneries, real WX... and no charger at all! Try that with any newer sim. Heck, try that with FSX! Just the laptop battery and a wireless Xbox controller, configured as I wanted it (unlike MSFS Cloud version). The ultimate portable sim 😁 That made me rediscover FS9, after a 3-year hiatus. I'm now tempted to purchase some addons for this (namely, F1 ATR, DA Fokker, any A2A FS9 warbird, and FlyTampa TNCM... which works for both FS9 and P3D v5).
  4. That's why I said this: Just compile it anyway! I think there's an option in ADE to compile it without the missing objects.
  5. If changing the scenery doesn't work, it's probably AI. If you don't feel yet like isolating the traffic to find the offending one, try checking your Aircraft folder with DXTFixerX: https://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?DLID=218811 Make sure DXTFixerX is not set as read-only, and after it finishes, try spotting again.
  6. See the first stickied topic in this forum: This may help a lot. In the case of Ray Smith's sceneries, he has some custom objects embedded in his AFCADs. What I do is to leave his original sceneries as-is in a scenery folder, and then save the recompiled AFCADs in another scenery folder, with higher priority. I've used this approach for the latest SAEZ and SBGR, successfully.
  7. I got the SKBG scenery for all Sims since FSX, and just bought SKMD for MSFS. Since SKBG is my hometown airport, I'm allowed to be picky, but I have no complaints about it at all, either regarding performance or accuracy. Well, there's not much traffic at Palonegro anyway...
  8. Looks like CFIT. Speechless... https://www.rainews.it/articoli/2022/10/canadair-precipita-etna-2-piloti-incendio-sicilia-1e5bdaaa-d8ac-4f9a-9684-94f379cfad19.html It's in Italian, but you can just skip to the second video. May the brave pilots RIP.
  9. I went yesterday to DX12 and DLSS. Stutters everywhere, despite having 65 FPS (in a 144-Hz monitor with a 23-144 Hz Freesync range). DX11 was smoother with less FPS. I'll try back tonight.
  10. There may be an option for Linux, but is subscription-only: have you tried using the cloud version of MSFS, and loading it from the browser? I made it work on Android (with the Xbox app) and I knew it could run in Mac (I don't know if Safari only or Chrome too). It would have the same limitations of the Xbox version (i.e, all addons wold have to be from Marketplace, and none of your purchases at Steam would be available).
  11. 0) As far as I understand, no. 1) If you are willing to pay, there's the MSFS Guide at RD Presets. I'm not sure about guides other than NickN's one for FSX, which I used for setting up my rig before fiddling with MSFS itself. 2) WX generation? No. Payware aircraft? I've purchased some out of the Marketplace (which end up in the Community folder) and some inside the Marketplace (which end up in the official packages folder). 3) As far as I know, there's no technical difference. But I went straight to the Premium Deluxe version anyway.
  12. I can run the Maddog 2010 on both Windows 10 (FS9 and FSX confirmed) and 11 (FSX confirmed, FS9 yet to confirm) with no issue. Now you have the hardest part remaining: buy it. If you can do with the next best thing, you may try the Lonny Payne panels for FS9 (freeware, available at Flightsim.com), or the Flight1 version (steam gauges available for FS9 and FSX, EFIS available for FSX only).
  13. I had a modern TI-89 (from almost 20 years ago), but didn't survive well all the beating at college. Now I have it as an emulator in both my phone and tablet, but it's just not the same. Fortunately, the watch I have has a slide ruler on the bezel. Quicker than an actual calculator haha
  14. iFly 747. Lovely rendition of a lovely bird. Nice pictures! The first one (the 741) is Posky, right?
  15. That's a good reason. For the record, I have a Samsung S10e. I wanted to replace it with an S22 (the small one), but then the price increased a lot here. I gave up until it comes back to a more favorable price. Regarding updates (which I actually distrust, because of performance and battery life), I still have them for my S10e, even after almost 3 years since I purchased it. Samsung has a good update policy with the S series and maybe Note and Z too. For the other series, I'm not so confident.
  16. Do you have any apps purchased for your phone? That may add up to the cost of switching OSs. Also, do you really need to upgrade?
  17. You let me thinking: I have that folder, but I also have two folders inside Community: navigraph-navdata and navigraph-navdata-base. I remember installing them when updating AIRAC to 2209. Will these ones override MSFS nav database?
  18. Is it there a way to keep the MSFS navdata frozen in, let's say AIRAC 2209? Call me cheap, but I got the Navigraph navdata for my addons, Simbrief and that AIRAC, and I don't feel like paying a monthly/yearly subscription because the sim changed navdata automatically. Not with the exchange rates and the 75% in taxes levied here...
  19. If you have some cash to spare, install the Steam version instead. I bought a laptop some weeks ago (the one in my signature); the first thing I did was to install it. No issues at all, just remember to use windowed mode.
  20. Did you manage to reduce any 8K textures with Ordenador? I use it very frequently
  21. But that's with a default aircraft and no AI traffic at all! Try landing at KJFK (preferably on the 31's), with bad WX and reasonable AI.
  22. Bummer... I was following their development since an FSX version wasn't yet ruled out. Guess I'll have to reinstall FS9 just for the RFP 747.
  23. I got a Samsung GalaxyTab A8, which I use for the EFBs in Fenix and FSL.
  24. Noel, I've just saved your recipe for breakfast. Looks tasty. I'll try it this weekend... or even maybe tonight for supper. Thanks a lot for sharing! Here in Argentina there's something curious for outsiders: people love to have a meal like the one you describe, but at tea time (or what we call here, merienda). For actual breakfast, a tea, coffee or mate, and just a couple of biscuits or sweet croissants.
  25. Done it. It works as normal, except for the fact my ramp voices somewhat changed, and that the messages in the green bar are also spoken.
