  1. Oh that,... don't worry that's just the Skunkworks bug...The first is caused by a B2 Spirit blocking out the sun and the second an F117.
  2. So was it just the new set of Orbx Libraries that got it working?
  3. I'll share something I have learned during the numerous complete builds and upgrades since FSX was released... Unless the new tech is an immanent release don't worry about whats on the horizon and buy what you can afford today. I have nothing against new tech sometimes it's awesome but most the time you pay a premium for uncharted territory that rarely lives up to the hype or the cost.
  4. I just sort of thought you were slammin the pitch in your Skymaster in an effort to combat the mysterious & elusive, yet ever present XP Torque Bug! I love the mixmaster, yet I actually prefer the FXS Version better with the large Garmin in the dash. Max those are some seriously nice shots :Applause:
  5. Nice! Now how 'bout letting up on that prop pitch  !
  6. Looks Great! Not trying to hijack but does anyone know if there are new installers for the older FT Scenery or are you all just installing it using the EMT? I see where Simmarket lists them under P3dV2.
  7. I noticed in the Select weather option of P3d There is an Active Sky Weather Theme choice if you place the bullet selector below to the Weather Themes option. If running ASN in live mode should I leave that bullet in the User Defined option or should I place it in weather Themes and select the Active Sky theme? It's a bit confusing. Thanks, Robert
  8. Another thing worth mentioning here is that in FSX and P3d at times you can get away with FPS down in the teens while not fluid it can still be rendered smooth enough for the sim to be usable. (Many folks advocate not looking at the frame rate counter but just look for smoothness in those sims) However in XP it's critical to keep your FPS over 20 in order for the flight modeling to work properly. Things fall apart below that threshold and you can even get to the point of S-l-o-w motion taking affect. That's why when I set up XP I do it in a demanding environment both weather, airport, and aircraft then on the rendering page I select "set for maximum performance" and begin the process of increasing sliders until I get to the 25fps range then stop. I usually leave it there because I'm more of a "set it and forget it" kind of guy and it gives me the overhead needed. Setting your rendering options with ideal conditions only to see them tank in game when encountering a demanding situation to me seems counter productive. If I only flew one or two airframes in vfr conditions my approach might be different.
  9. I did have to re-run my FS Dreamteam add-on manager but had no issues with FSUIPC or Ezdoc or anything in the .xml going bad. It is odd how some seem to be able to patch and others have to do a clean install... 10+ Gigs vs 108 MB I feel it for those who have to download from scratch.
  10. Well, I must be one of the lucky ones as I didn't delete anything prior to patching and the patch seems to have taken without issue.
  11. I was thinking the same thing...it looks like after? Can somebody confirm?
  12. My opinion/thought would be wait and see what P3d V2.2 brings to the table as well as XP10 V10.30. However there's nothing stopping you from going back to FSX. I have all three platforms running on my machine. If you already have the add on's you listed all you need is disc space and the time and effort it does take to install and configure. Contrary to what appears to be a popular belief amongst simmers you don't have to pledge allegiance to any one in particular but, it does make life a bit simpler B)
  13. Yeah sorry to be the bearer of bad news but Strider is right. You are correct though the processor is relatively new and it's single core performance isn't bad but your stuck with the 3.0 Ghz clock speed which isn't fast and your graphics card is dated too. Sorry I can't tell you what you should be seeing frame rate wise in XP10 but it's not going to be anywhere near Max Sliders. FSX is different it was much more CPU bound and no real benefit from hyper threading so that's why I am thinking that your seeing acceptable performance there but FSX also loves GHZ and it really doesn't start to shine until you get up past 4.4-4.6GHz so I'm a little surprised your happy with that Sim either.
  14. Air Hauler will work but it's a clunky feeling port over that isn't supported like it's MSFS title. I've used it but have since shelved it and hope that Slopey will offer a fully supported platform for Air Hauler 2 which should be being released soon.
  15. Sorry, seriously not trying to give offense but from what you've listed your machine might not be as a high end as you think, at least by today's standards. What processor is your I5? I was unable to open your dropbox settings so I'm not sure what you have your rendering options set to. Might be a simple case of expectation management as XP10 can bring the latest gear to it's knees. I run a Nvidia card so I'm not real big on the Radeon cards drivers but I believe there were some threads where they struggled a bit with some of the latest XP10 RC's so that might be compounding things as well. I'm sure once you list out your gear ( I find it helps to put it in your profile) others might be able to comment better on what you should be seeing frame rate wise (ball park) right now it's a little vague.
  16. Cool, glad it works for you. Now back on topic...So the OP got a new card went from a 580gtx to a 780ti and doesn't seem happy with the results? Hmmm, sometimes the simplest solutions often get overlooked; did you update your drivers? Any Nvidia or Nvidia Inspector setting that might be causing the poor performance? Once those are checked why not go to a default location and "set all rendering options for maximum speed" then build yourself up increasing the rendering options as you go? Might help in troubleshooting the issue...Good luck
  17. I find it hard to believe you could even have playable framerates with everything "Maxed Out" so what's the point?
  18. Do you happen to have any AI Aircraft, especially default ones loading into the sim? They tank my FPS even the ones that are suppose to be optimized. Also are you seeing these low fps everywhere or in a specific location, maybe a bad scenery? Lastly from what I have read on Ben's blog I would never consider running texture compression especially with 3-4gb of vram but I suppose that's a personal preference.
  19. Alpha Floor is right on target here. Speaking from experience I had a 40 GB SSD for my OS (Too Small but it was back when a 250GB was about the largest you could buy) I Also had A 120GB then a 250GB then another 250 GB. The thing about HD space, especially SSD's, is that they tend to fill quicker than you'd think or at least thats been my experience. I have tried keeping my files streamlined and by doing so and not installing everything under the sun a 250 GB drive can work fine but if your going to run multiple Sims FSX, XP10 and P3D then it's not enough. In my own system I have went to a 120GB SSD for the OS. a 500GB Samsung 840 EVO just like yours for my Sims and then a couple standard large capacity drives for general storage. I even use an older 300GB Velociraptor as my 30 day scratch/ temp drive that I download and extract files to then routinely wipe. At this point I'm not sure the 500GB EVO is enough but seeing how easy it is to drag and drop XP10 to another disk to gain another 90-100GB it'll work fine...for now. You picked some good gear your going to like it for sure!
  20. For what? We need to know what your using the pack for before we can make a suggestion.
  21. I respect you for trying something new JComm but I'm afraid I'm never going to want to use the mouse as a primary flight control so long as I have a piece of dedicated hardware that was meant for that purpose. Maybe if I had to sim on a laptop or something but not on my dedicated simming machine. I shutter at the thought of using a mouse in place of my MFG Crosswind pedals or my yoke.
  22. Visit REX Homepage for more details but REX4 Texture Direct should cover the following textures... Clouds& Effects- High Level, Low Level and Lightning Sky Colors- Dawn, Day, Dusk and Sun effects Water and Waves- Global Water and Wave Animation Airport- Airport Lighting, and Bumpmap Runway and Taxiway- Both Asphalt and Concrete plus markings Sound Effects- For Precipitation noises
  23. Ok That worked...looks nice and you're right very compact. Nice job!
