  1. Have no experience in ATi, but nVidia Surround setup was done by me yesterday without opening the 'google-helper'. It is pretty straightforward. To be honest the most difficult part for me was to trace the signal cables from monitors to the PC.
  2. OK guys, time to small conclusion: In my rig, there is a big improvement - I have made a test scenario with tons of clouds: GTX580 30 FPS (no fluctuation) GTX680 37 FPS (no fluctuation) I did not change anything in nVidia, FSX or any other settings. This is a big upgrade. As big as VAT in Poland (23%). I also gave a try in DX10 in the same scenario, but only on Kepler card (I have never used DX10 on my older card). My guess is - it is far better performer now, but I do not have the numbers to prove this. I was able to achieve ~50 FPS so I push the AA/AF to the limit achieving pretty much the same FPS as in DX9 but with more smooth experience and better IQ. Unfortunately, there are few issues in DX10, so I will have to hang around in DX10 forums Conclusion: there is a BIG improvement between factory OCed GTX580 (1.5 GB RAM) and factory OCed GTX680 (4 GB RAM)
  3. I just bought the Gigabyte GTX680 4GB model. I will get back to You with the reports. Paul123 - I did not try that big resolution, but I remember, back in the days, switching from 1x 1680x1050@60 to 3x 1680x1050@57 the FPS were almost identical (i have used Zotac AMP! GTX280 then). There were only few percent lower on the higher resolution. In both cases (one monitor and three monitors) I have used the same nVidia settings. Of course at (or above) big hubs and in heavy clouds the framerate and smoothness dropped vastly in both cases.
  4. I have seen in some ATC add-on issues when wind change significantly (two head-on landings is one of them). I think it is the default ATC from FSX. Thank You for provided information. I will hold purchasing, but will monitor the development for sure.
  5. I have jumped from 3x 21.6" to 3x 27" and the improvement is vast. left and right screen have still very 'fat'n'wide' effect, but my landings become more precise, I can tell the bank angle in VFR without looking down the 'ball'. If You do have the room and few bucks, go for bigger screens as fast as You can!
  6. Hello simmers and simmerians! Taking the chance, I'd like to wish all of You the very best in 2013 year. I have come to a point, I have no USB ports left and decided to do something about it... I'd gladly get rid of Matrox TripleHead2Go (thus one current-hungry USB port) and take a chance with GTX680 but I need Your help regarding the choice... Currently I use Gigabyte Windforce GTX580 with 3x 27" (5760x1080@50Hz) and I am pretty satisfied with the frame counter except overcast (or better yet two OVC layers) - it goes down to 10-14 FPS which is too low for final. I use 4x SGSS which my PC can handle pretty good. Will I benefit with the GTX680 anyhow here? I consider 4 GB model, it will be used for FSX and Rise of Flight only. These are my choices so far: Gainward GeForce GTX 680 Phantom ZOTAC GeForce GTX 680 AMP ASUS GTX680-DC2G-4GD5, GeForce GTX 680 Gigabyte GeForce GTX 680 Any help, guidance or recomendations would be gladly welcome!
  7. Guys, how's Pro-ATC/X cooperating with AS2012sp2b3 weather? No anomalies? Are there any plans for Voice recognition or MCE integration?
  8. Guys, do any of You tried the fix with PMDGs JS41? I have found, that speeding slowly to ~25kts and bring props to beta (~3-5% Torque, 72% RPM) it took more than a minute to slow down to ~12-15kts. Is that OK? I used tarmac for this.
  9. In order to help You, I think You should provide what controllers do You have. I have noticed when changing from Saitek Yoke to PFC Saab, the same physical movement of elevator axis gives totally different effects in FSX
  10. Please note, SP2 is in beta. You will have to download it separately. I am also pretty sure SP2 includes SP1 fixes - it always was that way at HiFi Sim.
  11. Does the real plane allows for locking gear down if above the extension speed? I believe some of the planes has build-in protection for such an event. I do not know, how it works for B200 King Air, neither in real life nor in Carenado product
  12. Ryan posted it on similar topic, which raise to lot of pages. There are no windshear warning, due to limitations in FSX data, as Frank stated above
  13. Try out GigaWorks T40. Someone start identical topic few days ago. Please search for this in the forums, lot of interesting news there
  14. Generally most Aerosoft switches work up for left click, one step down for right click. If You want to fully open the cowl gill, You can left click, move the mouse out of the switch and release button - it will stay in the 'open' position'. If You just click and hold without moving the pointer, the switch will get back to neutral after releasing the LMB
  15. You can ask directly GF Inc. I am sure they will help if they already has the knowledge.
  16. SimTech Design (located in Barcelona, Spain) could be a help here. Try to contact them.
  17. When it is hot, Eng/Elev AI is usually not needed. I cannon see the bird climbing with 1500SHP, 24000lbs (MTOW) and hot/high with Eng/Elev AI on.
  18. Why not stick to the topic? I am expecting SP2 somewhere in December. usually HiFi bring us new toys around that date (ASA, ASE, ASX...)
  19. I recall the newer model - 1650SHP, but cannot document it. Maybe it is worth looking to aircraft.cfg? There are some engine parameters for sure.
  20. In that case I encourage You to open a ticket at HiFi's web page. They will gladly help. Do You have more than one sound card? AS2012 always direct the audio to the default one
  21. There is an option to enable Flight Watch. I remember one of the first tabs in 'options', upper left corner. Please dig there and enable it. 122.000 (The closest station) works always (no matter the plan), 122.025 works for the destination airport if You have imported the Flight Plan. I hope that help a bit. Good luck!
  22. I just guess, it it possible to have the mic too close to the speakers... What happened if You mute the mic or reduce the gain?
  23. MCE without a doubt. It has some good pre-recorded voice sets. I use Cepstral or Ivona TTS voices - in that way I have a very 'calm-voiced' female F/O
  24. It depends on Your CPU, GPU and resolution used. I do not see any difference in IQ between 1024x1024 and 4K clouds, but I do see a huge difference in FPS value (2048x2048 brings the system to its knees), so I use 1024 res. version and still have slow-mo when OVC is overhead
  25. I use it for choppers, warplanes and RoF 1WW simulator. It does handle the job pretty good. If You fly "hands on" You may consider removing the "big spring" to have a lot less tension on the centering force. The hardware is outstanding, the software is powerful, but far from perfect.
