  1. I believe it is 5000ft by regulations. Please remember, that You have to stop in no more that 60 or 70 % (can't remember which statement is true for a turboprop) LDA
  2. They were all pretty lucky - props are OK, wings did not rip off, cabin is still as a one piece... Hope they all learned they lesson.
  3. I'll be glad to have it compatible with MCE. i do not own the Avro's yet, but digging via the provided doc's gives me the impression it is worth...
  4. Gandy, this logo is with standard FSX's font size?
  5. I would also like such a program and spend few bucks on it for sure. I see it like dependable on hobbs meter or set by a user reliability in percentage or average failures in 100 hrs.
  6. LED display is a newer technology. The displays has better view from the angle, much lower power consumption and weight. As for the displayed picture quality - it is a matter of personal opinion. I have big screen TV (LCD) and three LED PC monitors in the same room and prefer the LCD quality.
  7. Gregg, MilViz has very good documentation. I suggest dig out some charts, clues. There is a lot of interesting read in every MilViz docs.
  8. It could be possible when landing on a sloped runway, like Lukla (VNLK). You are going slightly up (3ft/min uphill) but slower than runway beneath Your gear strut. But I do not think sloped runways are possible in FSX
  9. I use three monitors (16:9) and zoom factor of 0.65 - 0.69. Seems very close to the machines I was sitting in, the fisheye effect at the very end of side monitors is noticeable, but I have more peripheral vision that way.
  10. I have not discovered any change between on-board, dedicated and two of them at one time. You have a decent setup, so You should not worry about few CPU cycles.
  11. The bigger the better. End of story :) I have three 27" displays, and have something like 0,6-0,8 meters to the center one. before, that was 3x 21,6" and I have to tell You, it is much easier to land gently in GA on bigger screen.
  12. Try to right click on the taskbar and select "force flight mode" or the other one (cannot recall it here and no MCE on this PC). You can also try to slew up ("Y" and F4 next) and down (F1 till the ground). Have You tried 'Vertical speed minus fifteen hundred' or similar? There is a nice set of doc's providing You what can be said to MCE's FO. Flaps fifteen when You are at flaps 20, flaps twenty five when You are at flaps 30 and so on. This is documented as far as I remember and I encourage You to read the doc's. It is a half an hour read, but worth every minute to have the communication seamless. Can't help here. My way of doing business is preparing the flightplan in external program, starting FSX plus tons of addons loaded via FSUIPC: some of them loaded before FSX, some of them when I am on the parking spot inside the cockpit (MCE is one of them). Good luck!

    Hi All

Hello Alison! Although I am few years in the business, I am still learning. That is a never ending story. I wish You at least as many landings as takeoffs.
  14. My way of dealing with this was saying speed to tooooo (long two) toooooo zero. It is not perfect, but works usually.
  15. I have similar config, most details on max and VRS works well in all conditions except OVC (but this brings down FSX everywhere no matter the airship used). Grab the plane, You won't regret!
  16. Nope, there will be no conflict. I am flying in this way for over four years without issues. Just make sure, You disable the axes/buttons in FSX control menu if You intend to use FSUIPC.
  17. The GF one works well in 1.25 firmware - previous one locks up in W7 64bit when turning dials fast. The drawback on 1.25 firmware is, it is bigger in bytes than previous builds and the producer had to wipe out the serial number from the unit. As far as I remember, the only working software (FS Labs I guess it is) for GF MCP Pro and PMDG 747 is licensed on serial number principle. Please dig dipper in that way, so You won't regret Your decision. I am very satisfied GF customer, but have no idea on VR Insight, since I never touched it.
  18. Does this happen all around the world? Try different continent, or even two different ones. If it goes normal, disable few addon scenery entries and give it a go. Narrow down the search and You will nail down the culprit. I had the exact issue two years ago, initially blaming AirHauler, but it was some scenery (or too much of it).
  19. I used to have an 10.1" Android powered tablet, which can be bought in Poland for ~100 quid. It was named GoClever TAB. Pretty enough to view the approach charts. 7 inches are to small for me unfortunately, especially in complex charts
  20. My story for this would be that: - A2A Cub - wonderful plane, You will feel it, not only fly it. Top on the list without a doubt - PZL-104 Wilga - I am personally attached to this plane. This is the first GA I have flown outside the monitor. Despite this, Aerosoft has done pretty good job. A2A Accu-Feel would be nice addition to this bird. - Ants Airplanes Ealget - I do not know this plane, was never interested in it. If You can afford, go for two of them: Cub and Oriole (Wilga)
  21. In application's GUI. Under settings/sounds You can pick which sound card You wish to playback the output (sounds and communications enables You to choose two cards)
  22. It depends on what You want to achieve, what aircraft You fly. For a GA a nice Yoke and throttles plus RP would be nice. For a transport plane, hardware FMC and AFCS would be nice. Buttkicker is good for all planes (it kicks Your butt in prop all the time, in Jet when rolling down the runway, changing configuration). Headset for ATC is a nice addition... TrackIR is a must in VFR (looking for the traffic and landmarks) and inside the complex cockpits. Big screen TV, or even better, triple monitors is also very nice, especially, if You have TrackIR. From software side in FSX: MCE, Accu-Feel, EZCA, AS2012, REX-E, good scenery for VFR and decent airport for IFR.... There is plenty of stuff to go by.
  23. I am using Hi-Fi's products since approx. four years, and I always find it very good (as far as FSX allows) simulating the real weather. You shouldn't regret the money spent.
  24. The only "light" aspect from GNS-XLS is the lack of AFIS and no Holding can be programmed. And You cannot see the strength of GPS satellites, but this is not working in any RNAV aircraft in FSX. The real world counterpart's manual is worth reading. I do not use GPU, since I fly in remote areas, where one couldn't found Ground unit for such a rare aircraft.
  25. I'd leave them both if You can - one for environment (the better-sound-output-card should be used for this) playback, one for ATC (the crappy one). Nowadays sound cards have their own CPUs to decode the bits to membrane movement.
