  1. I also seem to remember Warren (I think that is his name!) from the Project Opensky forums indicating that he at some stage had the privilege to fly a 747-400 simulator, fairly lightly loaded and he recorded that the 747, even on a good derate, WANTED to climb at something like 6000 feet per minute initially. Then you also have to take into consideration that not ALL operators even allow for derates! So now imagine that 777-200LR with an operator not allowing the derates and doing maybe a 3000nm trip... Yeah, sounds hectic LOL! Kind regards
  2. Robert, Thanks for the information and letting us know that it is one step close now. If it is at all possible, and I realize that this is probably a very unfair question, but could you give us some indication, in broad terms obviously, of how the wide beta is progressing please? I have noticed that the guys making us drool with all the screenshots and videos have mostly reported a stable and enjoyable flight experience with minor issues here and there. Any information would be much appreciated! Many thanks and kind regards.
  3. Hahaha, I think you hit the nail right on the head there! I am finding it more and more difficult to concentrate on anything else and the irritation levels are rising I, I, I... (Closes down the browser and tries to return to office work...) :LMAO: Kind regards
  4. I'm not a beta tester (unfortunately!!!), but I think you can safely assume that if it is in the beta it will be in the released version too! From what I have seen in the videos that Kyle posted, it seems like this aircraft is far more customizable than the NGX even! If you are talking about the red dot on the top right of the PFD though, I'm not sure, don't know if PMDG will include snipers in the 777! Kind regards
  5. +1! I have always eyed the -200LR since it was capable of flying virtually anywhere non-stop! I am happy that we are getting that one first. Thanks for clarifying Ryan. Kind regards

    Question

I personally like it when the aircraft shows some signs that it has seen some service, a few fingerprints here and there and so on, but not so dirty that I cannot read a darned thing anywhere! Kind regards
  7. In the real world, I think I would prefer to have the written copies with me and to access them when I need them if the ECL becomes inoperative. Regards
  8. Agree with you! I think the main issue as Rob said in the lesson that they have learned with the MD-11, despite the fact that it is one of the most brilliant aircraft ever as far as I am concerned, it just didn't sell very well. Why? Because it is not the icon in the aviation industry that the 747 and the 737 is! Now... The B787 may have caused some hype in the real world industry but let us be honest, how many 787's can you currently see (not talking about firm orders yet to leave the Everett Facility!) at airports around the world? That and the fact that the 787's inception was plagued with issues and still is to a large extent. if PMDG does a 787, it would probably be good for them to hold of until around 2017-2020 to give it a good chance of firstly becoming a marketing success for Boeing and secondly to give it a chance to put in some appearances around the world's major airports in large quantities first! From the videos that I have seen on the 787 (documentaries mostly), the 787 looks like an amazing machine, but PMDG are masters of marketing - they will do it when they are able and when the market for it is right. Right now, I keep drooling all over my keyboard at the 777 and then my most favourite aircraft, the 744 and the 748 that follows. If PMDG never released anything else, this would keep me busy until my dying day! Kind regards.
  9. How so??? Please share with us LOL! Regards
  10. Luke, one other quick question, and I know this may of course change, but I am interested to know how large the installer is in comparison to the NGX installer? Is it the same size or even larger? Many thanks!
  11. I am also interested to know that LOL! Kind regards.
  12. Amazing Kyle, thanks so much, this will be my Friday night movie!!! Kind regards
  13. I have another question sir, I understand that the ADIRU system which replaced the IRS system consists of lasers as opposed to gyroscopes, so what does this do for the alignment time? Is it instantaneous or does it still require alignment of about 10 mins? Kind regards.
  14. Small things one at a time, thanks Luke, that just goes to show how hard you and the PMDG guys are working to get it as close to perfect as possible! Kind regards.
  15. I may be cursed as a heathen after this, but... I don't actually own the J-41 so I cannot comment on that, but what I can say is that the FDE seems incredibly realistic! I am not a Dash 8 pilot, but I like to make intense studies of videos and compare it to what I see, coupled with my slightly limited real world experience in flying light sport aircraft and Cessna's and to me it feels very real indeed. As for the systems, they work like they should, with the occasional one not modelled entirely due to the fact that the Pilot edition is the lightest of them all, but trust me, it cannot really be considered "light" The systems modelling is really really good and thing like taxiing the aircraft feels very realistic indeed! Also things like prop icing and the way it interferes with the dynamics of the aircraft and the prop itself is modelled in great detail. The STOL capabilities of the aircraft is very realistically modelled. Landing it is a bit of a challenge until you master it, but that I understand is the case in the real world as well. So overall, yes, very realistic, but I cannot compare it to the J 41. (Now immediately fetches credit card to buy the J-41 before being discovered as not owning all the PMDG products...)  :LMAO: Again, hope that helps!
  16. Hi all, I recently had the pleasure to take the aircraft and review it, albeit the most basic version, the Pilot version of the aircraft. As all of the others have stated here, the aircraft is a little gem! Those wondering if the price is worth it, it certainly is! It is a really high quality add-on, so you don't have to be concerned with finding it falling short of your expectations. Hope that helps! Kind regards
  17. Amazing thanks, this is the sort of video I have been waiting for! Kind regards
  18. I feel the same way! I have been using a Samsung 7 inch tablet now for some time and I can do everything I need, in fact, this is the ONLY reason why I acquired the tab in the first place. I can view (or search for) charts, check weather if the need be, etc. I think that is more realistic than an in-game window which I agree with Kyle might be counter productive fps wise specifically!
  19. I take my hat off to PMDG - them having to endure this sort of thing every time! Yet despite the circus around release date, they keep coming back for more :LMAO: Kind regards
  20. I have to say, I think that the 200LR would do it for me, and maybe the -300 at some stage, but I mean as Ryan once said, I can fly anywhere with the -200LR I can with any other 777 Kind regards
  21. :Applause: :LMAO: Nicely put I would have thought! Kind regards
  22. Maybe that to cut through all the red tape and costs involved will take ages, and that by and large the FS community may not be entirely sure what goes into an EFB, it is really much, much more than just a performance calculator and chart viewer, but I myself am not entirely sure what exactly it all encompasses! Kind regards
  23. Ryan I think it is too late :LMAO: Kind regards
  24. This aircraft really is something else! Many thanks Luke, get well soon. Kind regards
  25. Beautiful Luke, thanks for sharing! Kind regards
