  1. No, you aren't getting too old. It's just our once civilized and disciplined society giving way to a selfish, entitled, barbaric, un-disciplined, self-indulgent and adolescent culture that cares nothing for what's proper.Other than that, I have no strong feelings on this subject...
  2. In the options page you can adjust the movement speed of keyboard movement inside the VC as well as in the external view. You can also adjust the mouse and joystick POV movement speed there.
  3. Thanks Paul, I was shooting in the dark abit because of being at work and not at home... Hopefully this fixes the OP problem (and he sees this intertwined with the other responses...)!
  4. Now can we stop arguing about developers and help the OP?Give this a shot, I had a similar problem with ALL of my aircraft after screwing around with Shader mods and DirectX 10 awhile ago.In the fsx.cfg, make the SHADER_CACHE_PRIMED= number one higher. For example, if you have SHADER_CACHE_PRIMED=19874562, then change it to SHADER_CACHE_PRIMED=19874563 and then restart FSX. If using DirectX 10 Preview do the same thing with SHADER_CACHE_PRIMED_10=x.
  5. EZCA is fantastic to use with any plane, especially the heavies like the PMDG 747 where you must normally shift from viewpoint to viewpoint or pop-up to pop-up to actually fly the aircraft. My three favorite features of EZCA:1. RealismThe head-movement effect created by EZCA makes flying much more immersive with FSX. Your camera will move with turbulence, ground effects, and general movement of flight of the aircraft. The effect is entirely editable, and can be switched off for different viewpoints (see reason 2).2. Viewpoints- Setting up a new viewpoint is as easy as cloning the current viewpoint in the EZCA interface, adjusting the viewpoint, and then setting a hotkey for it. It takes me about 5 minutes to setup all the viewpoints I would want in any given aircraft (less if using a simple aircraft like the A2A Cub).- I generally setup 6 different views with tubeliners; Pilot, Panel (for autopilot and middle of the panel), Overhead, Pedestal, and FMC. When setting up all views I disable the dynamic head movement effects in order to have easy access to all buttons without fighting turbulence with my mouse cursor. I then assign all views with a keyboard shortcut starting with Ctrl+1 and on up (I disable the FSX keybinds in the FSX Control Settings that conflict with the EZCA keybinds).- Setting up these different viewpoints eliminates the need for using the 2D popups, because I can set the viewpoint to be nearly identical with what the 2D popup would have given me.3. Ease of Use and Support- Some people find setting up EZCA the first time daunting, even frustrating. However, if you follow the installation instructions and setup instructions included in the PDF guide, there will be no problems. There is an abundant amoutn of users that are very willing to help with any problems as well, and can usually walk you through any problems. The developers are also very active on their support forum at www.simforums.com as well!So what are you waiting for?
  6. Looks nice Rob, this one is going on my payday list.
  7. Thanks so much for the consideration, give him my thanks!
  8. I am also very interested in this feature, as I would prefer flying YOUR 767 instead of the Captain Sim rendition if it had this.Looking forward to this feature if you guys get around to it!
  9. Like Igor said, they are not for the casual FSX user. However, they are very well priced considering what it costs for real flight training, and they are actually helping me with mine. For a student pilot like myself, and many others who are doing flight training or are real-world pilots who want real GNS functionality, they are a real steal!
  10. I believe that the Unlimited WAAS is an upgrade to the GNS 530, allowing you to use either two GNS 530s, two GNS 430s, or one 530 and one 430 in the same panel independently. This of course depends on what you already own. Explanation follows:GNS 530 ($50) + WAAS Unlimited ($100) = Two independent GNS 530s operating in the same aircraft at a total cost of $150GNS 430 ($50) + WAAS Unlimited ($100) = Two independent GNS 430s operating in the same aircraft at a total cost of $150GNS 530 ($50) + GNS 430 ($50) + WAAS Unlimited ($100) = GNS 530 and GNS 430 operating independently in the same aircraft but able to share information using Crossfill and TCAS (traffic) information added to the functionality at a cost of $200.However, purchasing the GNS 530, GNS 430 and WAAS Unlimited is still way below the cost of the real GNS 430... :)
  11. If you are at all familiar with the Lock On series of sims or KA-50 Blackshark, this uses the same engine. With my rig it will stutter if I have everything maxed out, including having the ground foliage maxed out (FPS killer!), but the FPS still stay above 30 as measured by FRAPS even during intense combat missions with units totalling probably in the hundreds.I must say that with the high fidelity of the aircraft models and the complexity of the depiction of the A-10's cockpit, not to mention the very well rendered ground vehicles and people (not 2D sprites!) and the large cities, I was very impressed by how high the framerate is (especially when compared with FSX...).
  12. I second this notion!I'm loving the sim as well, and am highly impressed with the attention to detail that was taken by the design team. If anyone is on the fence, take the leap and buy it, you won't be dissapointed!
  13. As far as picking the download or DVD;With the Download version, you must enter your activation key, purchase date, and purchase order everytime you install it.With the DVD version, there is no DRM, so you can install away with no activation. If you have the patience, buy the DVD.Make sure to install all service packs and Orbx libraries after installing PNW as well, in the correct sequence as well to ensure the best experience!
  14. I believe it is possible to have this effect using the outstanding A2A 3D Lights: http://www.a2asimulations.com/store/shockwavelights/
  15. It's a product of Chinese reverse engineering just like this: http://www.foxnews.com/scitech/2010/12/03/mph-chinese-passenger-train-breaks-speed-record/
  16. My goodness, by the end of this thread (two months from now), the following will be known: Nothing. However the rest will be speculated and embraced by some of those who where tin-foil hats under their pilot's headset;John Venema and Ryan Maziarz are really from Alpha Centauri's second planet.PMDG's next plane after the Dash-8 will be a GA (Gasp! )Orbx's next scenery will have everything simulated and calculated by PMDG, even the rate of pine-needle and leaf falling of evergreens and trees respectively will be simulated.Utilizing PMDG's robust sneaker composition wear-tool, Orbx's People-Flow will incorporate possible failures in foot wear, causing potential backups and issues on the tarmac and in the terminal.Just a few ideas...
  17. The big thing here is that you will get what you pay for.If you want the no-crap Garmin Trainer version of the GNS 430 then go with the Reality-XP.If you want an improved FSX limited GPS then go with the SimFlyer.I own both and use the Reality-XP exclusively because it is an almost exact replica of the GNS 430.
  18. A heads up to the budding panel.cfg artists out there. Instead of resetting the flight, it is much easier to just reload the plane, that way if you have zoomed and panned onto the gauge in question it keep the view on it and doesn't reload all of the scenery as well.In the Settings-Controls menu there is command listed for "Aircraft Reset", just assign a key combo like Ctrl-Shift-R to it (it's unused BTW), and you can do panel mods MUCH faster!
  19. Welcome to your new addiction Paolo! My most often used commands are:(Default key command in parentheses)Flaps Increase (F7)Flaps Decrease (F6)Gear (g)Spoiler Extend/Retract (/) <== "Forward Slash" (Not needed if flying a plane without spoilers of course...)Trim Up (Num 1)Trim Down (Num 7)Next View (A)Next View Category (S)ATC (`) <=="Tilde"Brake (.)Pause TrackIR (F9 in TrackIR software default setup)Center TrackIR (F12 in TrackIR software default setup)Pause Simulation (p)If you do not use TrackIR, you will of course need to have the HAT switch on the joystick mapped to Pan View which it should default to automatically.
  20. Best Grand Canyone IMHO is freeware available from the fine chaps at OZx:http://aussiex.org/forum/index.php?/files/file/12-grand-canyon-and-kgcn-holgermesh-v2/While you're there check out their Death Valley and other packages, all free!Of course a donation is always a nice thing to leave on your way out of the door.. :(
  21. This is an awesome paint Bill, thanks for the hard work! It's joined my FSPassengers flights out of Stark's for the daily flight.
  22. It's a pity that these kinds of things happen.Customers that feel ignored, companies that feel pressured. In our "fast food" type of world today, people expect the world today, and sometimes companies cannot deliver. This seems to cause an uproar of defiance among many people, and some seemingly jump on the bandwagon when they feel it is popular to do so.Another part to it is the "I quit" threads, which are usually unneeded because it only fuels the uproar, and in most cases is due to someone's impatience or misunderstanding.Everyone needs to take a deep breath, realize that some things in life are not as important as they think they are, and just enjoy living. Contrary to some people's belief, the world it not going to end because of a problem with a payware aircraft. If a particular person is unhappy with their purchase, they are not forced to purchase from that company again (as long as they live in a free psuedo-capitalist economy).
