  1. Both keep me happy :) Like has already been said: Piston for short hops Turbine for long jaunts And they both work in P3D (no RXP though)
  2. I use a 932 and vacuum the front of the case about once a month and blow out the case every 6 months. The case has awesome airflow and as a result has a tendency to have a higher dust build-up. More airflow = more dust and lower temps Less airflow = less dust and higher temps Just a matter of preference I think. IMHO, I will be using this case until it starts to fall apart, I love it!
  3. I've loaded the Cerasim Bell 222 and she flies like a dream.
  4. I've learned this major lesson with Carenado birds; always wait for it to appear at third-party sellers before purchasing, as it usually arrives at them with the first one or two SPs already completed. Great news though, thanks for sharing! I'll definitely get it when it allows full (3D knobs) RXP integration!
  5. Will take a look when I get home, thanks for the heads up.
  6. I've seen a lot of ridiculous items of selective outrage before, but this one has got to take the cake... Come on people give it a rest. Somebody is providing a product that they felt someone may have interest in buying. Buy it or do not, and move on. It's not as if the product description is deceptive. Somebody may like to have all those items packaged together for them by somebody else. What someone does with their time and money is their choice, and some folks in this thread have done nothing less than decry the product and anyone who would consider purchasing it. Because of this thread the product's producer has the potential to lose customers just because a few folks are feining outrage. It's ridiculous.
  7. If I could recommend it, here's a good comparison review about the H70 as done by the [H] folks at [H]ardOCP. It compares it to a couple of air coolers and the H100 in temperature, noise and price per degree performance. http://hardocp.com/article/2010/09/28/corsair_h70_water_cooler_performance_testing/
  8. SimMarket has the IRIS Mudhen on sale for $35 USD with no VAT, vice the regular $49 USD with no VAT. Euro sale price is 32EUR w/VAT, 26EUR with no VAT. http://secure.simmar...river-fsx.phtml PS. Thanks for the forum's resurrection Tom, it was always one of the reasons I visit AVSIM every morning...
  9. Avsim Staff, If I could make a humble suggestion/request regarding the new front page, I would like to humbly suggest a couple of different ideas regarding the new files of the day display. Before the change, it was very easy to see and navigate to, a file of my choice on the list without having to leave the front page. Now, I am required to follow a link to a separate page in order to display the entire list and be presented with a link to each file. Suggestion/Request Give the files of the day it's own box in the left side column of the front page similar to the Recent Articles box, perhaps directly above or below the Recent Articles box that lists each file by it's respective simulator version and category, with a hyperlink to follow directly to the file. Since space is limited, you could compress the listing into just the hyperlink and a small indicator of it's simulator version, i.e. Boeing 747 Japan Airlines - FSX, and leave the author information for the full page and library page. Along with this change, you could make the box title be a hyperlink that would bring you to the listing as it is currently displayed. This would negate having to use a news box to announce the files of the day and it would always be in the same familiar place. Sincerely, Phil Manhart
  10. I own neither (yet), but when I purchase one of them (which I will), it will be the Milviz. The reason being that the Milviz includes the ability to use the weapons on other simobjects (and their C310 is great!), and after the C-27 Spartan I am extremely cautious of IRIS aircraft. This is just my opinion, and I still love their A-10!
  11. A new one I haven't found reference to:When attempting to port over the PMDG NGX, I am receiving license activation windows even though I can load them up with no problem in FSX.Has anyone else seen this, and what did you do to rectify it?Thanks
  12. Give this a shot bic,1. Unplug all CH Controllers2. Run CM Delete from the CH folder in the Start Menu (this should delete all CH Drivers and Calibration Data)3. Uninstall CH Control Manager4. Reboot PC5. Plug in all CH Controllers (like Bob said, preferably where you won't have to unplug them)6. Install the CH Control Manager software, preferably by right-clicking on it and selecting "Run As Administrator"7. Once CH Control Manager is completely finished installing, reboot PC8. Run CH Control Manager and calibrate the controllers with the calibration tool in CH Control Manager, making sure to note for what Bob mentioned regarding Axis values, with ~128 being center, 0 being one end of the axis and 255 being the other end of the axis (if this isn't the case, you may have a bad potentiometer or controller board in the yoke. Potentiometers are easy to change and are $10 when ordered from CH).If you follow the above and manage to get a good calibration, DO NOT EVER use the Windows Calibration tool, only ever use the CH Controller Manager to calibrate again when and if the need arises.
  13. Glad to hear from you gents!I know the discourse has mostly been about the forum moderation, but this is how I (me, myself and I) have taken to the SBSLs:1. Buy the region SBSLs since they, like the regular FTX regions, are the best value. Especially regarding the AU SBSL which not only gives me the SBSL for all four original AU regions but SBSLs for YSCH and YMAV as well. (it's 6 SBSLs in one $6.95 AUD package if you consider what it covers).2. Buy an airport SBSL when I decide I want to fly from or to it.3. Following the rule 1 and rule 2 you can make out like a bandit on the SBSLs that you will use.Just something to think about, and no I won't respond to any negative posts about how I purchase the SBSLs.
  14. The Baytower RV is fantastic! Like the OP said later on, just edit out the GTX327 in the panel.cfg and you will be okay (you can just add // in front of the gauge lines).Comparing the Baytower RV to the Flight RV would be like comparing a Ferrari to a Ford Taurus, both work but one is much more refined (and has actual working components).
  15. Have you checked the Aivlasoft Support Forums?I remember some discussion about P3D going on there.
  16. It just took me 1.5 hours to read through this entire thread, wow.I'm still a member of the Orbx Beta Team so please no comments directed at me is a positive or negative way about Orbx (I hate politics), just wanted to say hi to everyone and hope everyone is well. It was refreshing to see archie, alan2, Nyxx, Stephen and everyone else I have forgotten to name are still lurking somewhere on the interwebs! Like some of you, I miss the good old days, but it is what it is.I've been lurking around AVSIM more often as of late, and probably will more often as it's good to see you all again (your posts at least). Now if I could only repair the terrible first impression I gave Tom...Happy simming,Phil
  17. You can pick it from PC Aviator for 50% off right now until April 2nd, 2012.http://www.pcaviator.com/store/product.php?productid=18957I've been thinking of picking it up, since I enjoy the CRJs, and it's a steal at that price.
  18. Thanks for the corrections folks, would hate for someone to get the wrong idea.
  19. My picks1. PMDG JS4100 (No FMC though)2. Feelthere CRJs (Great in-depth FMS)Both are Navigraph supported and a treat to fly.
  20. Jean-Paul,This isn't a fix, but have you tried using FSUIPC? I know it's another ~$30 to spend but well worth it. If you already own it for FSX you can run the installer again and it will install it into P3D as well.Just another thought about the calibration problem:- It sounds as if the controls file isn't being modified correctly or saved.- Is UAC disabled or was it disabled during P3D install?- Are you running P3D as the Administrator?- Is P3D installed in the /Program Files(x86)/... folder?- After you make your calibrations, press Apply, then Accept. Save the flight, exit P3D, then launch the saved flight by double-clicking on it in the folder it was saved to. This may ensure that the calibrations are saved for in the future.
  21. I love the -600 and -700, and is usually all I fly in regards to the 737.The -700 with the short field package can get in and out of almost anywhere.
  22. As the OP, I feel this thread has become nothing but an argument between the "armchair lawyers" and has deviated from the original intent of the thread. Thanks to those who replied with intent to continue the original discussion, and shame on those who feel it their job to shut down all discussion about P3D by again bringing up the EULA. This is ridiculous! In light of the posts by Tom and David regarding discussion of the legal aspects of P3D, I humbly request for this thread, which was not meant to devolve into another legal discussion, be locked.
  23. And I think if the EULA said licensed for anyone in the world to use it a few folks would argue from their armchairs it didn't mean them. :(
  24. So right Glenn and Word Not Allowed.Don't forget that Aerosoft is also onboard with P3D. I hope in the next few months we will see some folks jump onboard like Carenado, as porting over their line of products would only require making new installers. Like I've said in other posts, it's almost too easy to make products P3D compatible. We are already seeing folks like Bryan of FS2Crew investigating compatibility and development, but like you said PMDG's choice could spell doom for broad adoption. Although, in my opinion, they'd be crazy not to.
