  1. You seem to want this pretty bad so feel free to copy and paste over there. I won't be bothered. They had a perfectly functional forum here on Avsim before.
  2. I do own the 744/8 as well as the NGX/U. Nah...I'm good. With the egos there I'm sure they have someone watching.
  3. And then PMDG responds by publicly calling them out and effectively saying "we're pushing this to the back burner since Hifi left us out to dry." Drop the smug attitude, PMDG. This isn't 2010...you do not stand alone at the top. Nothing stopped PMDG from reaching out to them, either...they probably have 5 times the manpower of Hifi and they were busy FIXING the BROKEN weather injection in P3D V5...cut them a break.
  4. Mine has always looked like that. I think it's just an old scenery.
  5. It was $6 if you owned either TerraFlora V1 or Orbx Trees. As far as which one is better, Terraflora V1 was arguably better than Trees HD so one would assume the newest product with more customization options that is also marketed by Orbx is probably better.
  6. So I guess KGPI isn't going be updated for V5? That's a shame.
  7. I wonder if it would be possible to get a mix of TrueSky and regular clouds, for when they are depicting thunderstorms. Because I don't think you can have a 45,000-foot anvil with 2 cloud layers.
  8. I don't think Hifi would release a public Beta without proper wind control. Since the bug causes surface winds to be at altitude, I'm guessing they have found a way to control surface surface winds and change them to whatever the winds aloft would be for whatever altitude you're flying at. That seems to be the logical work-around.
  9. The temps and pressures and whatever else can be true to life, but without upper level winds...it's not a simulator. VATSIM should disable connections from V5 until this is sorted out. This could be worse for online flight than XPlane slowing down the sim rate for users with low FPS.
  10. That sounds like a work-around, not a fix. What happens when you try to fly on VATSIM with a 2-knot wind and the guy behind you in sequence has a 100-knot tailwind because his sim actually supports real-world weather?
  11. All I remember is having the issue in FSX. Hifi was the first to fix it and then other developers eventually followed. I never had the issue in P3D until now, so I'm not sure if the coding was just so similar between FSX and earlier versions of P3D to where the fix carried over, or if earlier versions of P3D never had the issue to begin with. All I know is, it's back now, and it sucks.
  12. The wind shift bug is the only thing keeping me from uninstalling V4. After getting a taste of it, it's kind of depressing to have to go back to V4 to fly the FSL bus now. V5 looks and performs soooo much better. It looks like LM fixed a lot of stuff in this hotfix, so I'm kind of perplexed/annoyed that there was not even a MENTION of the wind shift bug - that is certainly more pressing than "Improved bridge and overpass handling for freeway traffic" and 95% of the other stuff they listed!!! I realize that the sim isn't capable of having real-world weather by default, but come on. They have clearly shown a commitment to 3rd party developers, so you'd think they'd make it a priority for you to be able to fly at 25,000 feet using real weather without stalling due to a 180-degree wind shift. I can only hope that they are in discussions with Hifi. Maybe they have passed the buck to them. Hifi fixed the FSX winds aloft bug nearly a decade ago...now we are all counting on them again.
  13. Did they fix the wind shifts during weather injection? Didn't see it listed. Or are they just leaving that up to Active Sky to figure out?
  14. I think most of this treatment of Captain Sim is completely justified. Their 757 was the first aircraft I purchased for FSX, and while it looked nice, I quickly realized the flight dynamics were trash. It doesn't appear much has changed in the past 10+ years. People accepting the $100 price tag for this forever-BETA may not think they are doing any harm, until PMDG gets a big(ger) head as a result and next thing you know, you're paying $250 for an airplane.
  15. This was not the issue, but thanks for the suggestion. Bingo! Thank you!!! I just changed every 'pixel_size=1024' entry in the panel.cfg to 4096 and now have super-crisp displays in the Q400! 2048 was an improvement as well, but opted for the higher setting with my 4k display.
  16. Tried to install the Q into V5 but got blurry/pixilated displays.
  17. LatinVFR v2 here, looks and performs great.
  18. A bit late to the party here but I tried in this on a whim and holy word not allowed, it works! I've got a 6700k @ 4.6 with hyperthreading off and fly 4k at 30hz/vsync on. Even though I upgraded to a 2080TI, I had been suffering from stutters on pushback and taxi in at some airports which I thought was due to PBR and such, but after applying the tweak and flying into/out of some performance intensive airports, I've had no stutters in the FSL bus. Great find, can't believe I'm just now seeing this.
  19. Do you have to run FTX Central in order to update Chaseplane now? Everything I open that thing I have to spend 20 minutes cleaning up my scenery entries.
  20. You don't need a GSX profile for CLT. Since it's a semi-recent FSDT product the jetways are SODE and integrated with GSX by default.
  21. It does in fact include dynamic lighting. I'm not sure why inibuilds has their own profile. Maybe to improve performance?
  22. It makes me laugh every time I see someone saying something to the effect of "Well I think I'm going to take a wait-and-see approach, this happens every time a new sim has been released." Have you seen the hundreds of videos/screenshots/developer updates out there??? Do you really think Microsoft/Asobo would release all of that then lay a big word not allowed at launch? Here's what I think...every one of you will uninstall P3D/Xplane the first time you fly in that sim. Say what you want now. As soon as a halfway-decent PMDG bird gets released for MSFS...it's game over. I'd even fly a default airplane in that sim. This is easily going to be the biggest leap forward since I've been simming going back to FS98. And for the record...I am still flying P3D happily and buying new addons that are coming out. I'm not acting like time stops until the new sim is released. But let's be real people.
  23. I'm also thinking of picking up Environment Force now that it is on sale again. I'm coming from ENVTEX for textures, TomatoShade for shaders, Sky Force for cloud models and Active Sky for weather. Worth if for $20? Ben
  24. You guys that lose Process Lasso, do you run a script to start apps on different cores or just have Process Lasso switch after they start? I'm thinking of trying it out again since I've been getting more stutters lately.
  25. FSL all the way. The NGXU, while a good deal if you plan on buying it for MSFS2020, is mostly a disappointment in my opinion, given that the sounds are barely improved over the NGX, the FMC functionality not been upgraded, engine spool time is still unrealistic, and ground steering is...very weird and oversensitive. Randazzo has a long explanation on the PMDG forums as to why this is, and that it's not their fault, etc, but the bottom line is that FSL figured it out years ago, and PMDG cannot. I expected more out of what has historically been a top-tier developer. Nevertheless, it's not a bad airplane if you like the 737, but the FSL A320 and Leonardo Maddog (if you wanna throw that in the mix as well) are a whole notch above the NGXU, in my opinion. Ben
