  1. No worries, just found it in FCOM v2 - p.588 of the PDF version shows how to bring it up on the ND. Check out p.490+ for lots of cool info on how it works... Have fun!
  2. The Vertical Situation Display (VSD) is brought up on the ND by rotating the ND selector knob to "Map" and then pressing the "Center" button on the inside of the knob twice. Should be in the docs somewhere...
  3. That processor and GPU aren't ideal. If you do some quick searches around the sim forums, you'll find that nVidia GTX 285+ series cards are superior to ATI cards. Nonetheless, your processor is really the game changer. You'll need something overclocked to run the NGX at full force with AI traffic, weather, scenery, etc.
  4. Just ASE, also using the D3D9 Antilag Limiter with ENB Series HDR Mod.
  5. Funny, I just descended into Portland over ORBX PNW this evening and got the "Fatal Error" CTD. Loaded it back up at Portland for a quick loop around the pattern and the same thing happened. Been flying all around Southern California this week with GEX, REX, and some MegaScenery stuff and no problems...hmmm... Sit it out, I'm sure PMDG will figure this one out soon...
  6. Good post about this thanks to someone in the REX forums: http://realenvironmentxtreme.com/forum/index.php?topic=898.0
  7. Ash - pg. 115 of the Intro doc...
  8. I should also mention that I'm flying in Hawaii where the FPS are higher and memory load lower than most other places. I'm also using the ENB series HDR Mod with the D3D9 antilag limiter combo as per Ryan's suggestions mentioned on this forum.
  9. Hmm weird. I haven't experienced this. Mine just crashes, sometimes without notification or anything, FSX just completely shuts down instantaneously and I find myself back on the desktop
  10. Hmm I'm doing pretty good besides random CTD and freeze ups. Did you follow the setup guide in the "Intro" doc?
  11. I can confirm this as well. Haven't landed a successful flight yet. Everything while sitting at the gate and taxiing seems to be ok, but soon after takeoff and always with the autopilot engaged I'm getting random CTD or "Microsoft Flight Simulator has stopped working." Don't think it's my specs as they are pretty decent, and I've followed all the setup guidelines in the Intro. My suspicion is it's some sort of memory error.
  12. Wow, so many good theme songs, loving it guys! Haven't had a chance to hear them all yet but love Nite Flights by David Bowie and The Final Countdown by Europe...
  13. That sounds like a great idea, wish i had those stocked right now, don't want to leave for the store...i must have something i can chill real quick...
  14. Reassuring given those are nearly identical to my specs
  15. http://forum.avsim.net/topic/340475-pmdg-737ngx-livery-availability/
  16. looks like the flaps are too far down in the new pic for it to be taking off. i think it's flaring for landing. the old pic looks like an approach shot. in other words prepare for an NGX landing near you very soon!
  17. Hi Kevin, Jet engines produce less thrust as ambient air temperature increases. Flex temp is used to reduce wear on the engines and extend their operable life. Therefore, the entire point is to reduce power as much as you can. Flex temp is the highest temperature at which the engines would produce the required thrust to takeoff given your present constraints - runway length, fuel, payload, weather conditions, and other variables. As you said, at higher ambient temperatures, the air is less dense - meaning the engines have less air to compress and produce more thrust out of. Think of it as a way of exchanging thrust (more wear and tear) for longer takeoff length (more runway). Hope that helps, Brandon Burkley
  18. Don't post here often, but I have been keeping a close eye on these forums from the get-go of the NGX project. My applauds to whole PMDG team for bringing us such a fantastic product at such an incredible value Thanks again!Looking forward to next week,Brandon Burkley
  19. Just returned from Palm Springs for the weekend. Saturday it reached 118 there as well. Nearly passed out in my afternoon round of golf . KPSP will shut down at 120 as well. Aircraft just can't get enough lift in that thin, hot, dry air.Brandon Burkley
  20. You guys should check out Aivlasoft EFB. It comes in a downloadable fully functional 30 day trial (thereafter you have to purchase a license). I used to download PDFs for each flight, even bought FS Kneeboard for my iPhone but now I don't even touch that stuff. Just enter your flight plan info, and Aivlasoft's EFB will pull up all the charts you need, and give you live weather info (option to connect to Active Sky), a moving map of your aircraft, and a whole wealth of other info. I currently use it on my Macbook Air adjacent to my FSX display and it works great. Definitely worth the buy. I was reading through their forums and I believe some guy even got it to work on the iPad and Aivlasoft released an update to square away some compatibility issues. Check it out, in my book it's totally worth it.Brandon Burkley
  21. read the documentation.brandon burkley
  22. think they did something like this with the LCF. check it out.brandon burkley
  23. You know Dan, the same thought crossed my mind right before I bought these. I just assumed if he was selling them, then he had to have worked out an agreement with PMDG. Is this not the case?Brandon Burkley
