  1. It is indeed, and I would be throwing my money at them if they got it to work on Mac, even if it means networking from a Mac laptop booted into Windows. But no luck as yet it would seem.
  2. Its also a major frame rate kill in the case of REX, whilst for most people SMP gives a significant frame rate boost. Now if they could only sort out a decent weather injector Jason Row
  3. I agree, and what is not mentioned is for the most part they are a breach of copyright as well.
  4. True, but as a professional photographer who struggles almost daily with copyright abuse of my images, it grates to see people being so nonchalent in using other peoples work. I suspect the 2000 plus thumbs down probably think the same
  5. Nice video but very dubious copyright. He openly states that the footage is from BBC's planet earth but I don't see any statement that he has permission to use it.
  6. I agree with you nearly 100% with the exception of the PMDG. Try the Saab A340 from X-Aviation, granted not a jet but as close as you are going to get to PMDG in X-Plane with the bonus of silky smooth frame rates and a really cool interactive checklist
  7. There seems to be a misconception that 64bit will improve performance, this is not the case, if you are getting 25fps in 32 bit you will get 25 fps in 64 bit. What does happen is that the computer can access more than 4gb of ram, meaning products like Orbx can become ever more complicated and aircraft like PDMG can use higher res textures without OOM. As a X-Plane user, I saw all this happen. What I also saw happen was that virtually every complex aircraft was broken by 64 bit. The developers knew it was coming and updated accordingly and now everything works fine in 64 bit. However whether a lot of FSX developers will want to upgrade their product to 64 bit is another matter. Some may well charge for the updates. Lastly X-Plane was written with 64 bit in mind, P3D being based on 7-8 year old code will not be such an easy prospect to change. It will get there, but I suspect it will not happen quickly.
  8. The Open Street Map scenery that is currently making X-Plane look stunning as well as realistic. Roads, railways buildings power lines all in the right place. Its Orbx on steroids and best of all it's free
  9. Another thing X-Plane is missing is OOMs although we do have OSM.
  10. Thanks Dillon we are ok here in Odessa, the madness seems to be confined to the East, a long way from us.
  11. Dillon, I would like to Like your post. But I can't and for me, thats a sad thing
  12. Just to put the cat among the pigeons, but even this rumor does not say Microsoft will announce this license at their press conference. I would have thought it would be more likely, that the purchaser would make the announcement, not the seller. I might be wrong, I often am
  13. Too many to actually list, 120+ so far. The fact that 95% of them have a coast line might be a clue that I worked on cruise ships for some considerable time.
  14. I would second JAR, its an excellent aircraft and often updated
  15. It should be said also that all these scenery enhancements and tweaks are easy to install and best of all free. IMHO you can spend several hundred dollars on scenery enhancements for FSX (and I have done in the past) and still not get anywhere near what X-Plane provides for free. And of course 64 bit is the icing and the cherry on the cake that allows us to have this sort of scenery
  16. With the current Raleigh tweaks, IMHO I think X-Plane looks as good, if not better than this. And it is a working and developed simulator.

    Your age?

I was 37 when this thread started.
  18. To delete X-Plane on a Mac you simple drag and drop to the trash can. As has been said nothing is installed outside that folder and Mac OSX has no registry. Just make sure you empty the trash can as unless you do, the hard drive space that it occupied will still show as being used.
  19. I live 3 miles from Odessa International and all flights are arriving and departing as normal.
  20. Version 1.1 flying over a Channel Islands Ferry
  21. Take a look at these. http://forums.x-pilot.com/files/file/435-replacement-day-and-night-lighting-lightstxt-for-x-plane-1020/ They are a set of replacement lights for HDR
  22. Actually I have been around a lot longer than my current profile. You are the one coming to an X-Plane forum and criticizing our chosen platform. "Without good ATC and Ai traffic, Xplane is never going to be of interest for Airliner flying." Now three little words would have made that entire statement seem a lot less hostile. "In my opinion" Unless of course your opinion is so high it is weighted above everyone else's.
  23. X-Plane does have air traffic, you can set multiple aircraft arriving and departing, maybe not real life schedules but if you are sitting in the cockpit of your real airbus or boeing do you know where the next in line for take off is heading? As for the traffic, I like nothing better than a dusk approach across a busy freeway with lights everywhere and a real sense of movement. I would rather that than seeing BA 001 taking of from a distant runway heading to New York, a six hour journey whose has about 1 minute's relevance to my own flight. "Each to their own" I agree, so remind me what are you doing here? Jason (enjoying the sim I like very much)
  24. Stoppppp!!! I have spent far too much on X-Plane already. The cat is going without so that I can fly
  25. Ben has explained the roadmap in his blogs. The 10.20 update that brought us 64 bit, probably took the best part of a year to get stable, it was a massive undertaking that we all seem to take for granted now. 10.25 introduced a raft of new textures that make X-Plane look visually stunning. 10.30 is due, hopefully fairly soon, it I believe will also bring us some significant changes. I think we sometimes forget LR is a small, very small company developing an immensely complex simulator. They have neither the backing, budget or user base of FSX or indeed Lockheed. They do care about what we as users think, however we users tend to think many different things, the way LR prioritizes those will please some but upset others. Meanwhile some of the third party development has been stunning, and it's growing and getting better and better.
