  1. Happy new year guys! Absolutely gorgeous modeling on the 747! Can't wait to follow along with the progress next year!
  2. If the outside temperature is below 10° C and if there's visible moisture in the air (fog, rain etc.) put the anti ice switches to ON, once airborne you can leave them on AUTO most of the time since the 777 is quite an automated aircraft and takes care of anti-ice by itself.
  3. Meh, I'd suggest keeping the power in untill around 30 - 20ft. and retarding the throtles then. A good rule of thumb is to be at around 50ft over the runway treshhold.
  4. Fail.... Disregard and proceed with PMDG 787 talk...
  5. please sign your post with your full name pleaseeeee!!!!!!
  6. Cool! Never thought scandinavian languages had similarities.
  7. Du bist doch nur neidisch. Wie viele Sprachen sprichst du eigentlich?
  8. Merry Christmas everyone! Don't forget about the true meaning of Christmas, guys, it's not all about the presents.
  9. In this case, don't become a "slave to the FMS" , step down one automation level and revert back to V/S and HDG SEL. But yeah as Rob said, check your navdata and maybe consider a clean re-install of the 777 to rule out any installation errors.
  10. As far as I know there's no need to hit APP unless you want to intercept an ILS glideslope.
  11. You could try and find some Level-D airline sims in your area and see if you can rent them for a reasonable price.
  12. It's not as complicated as it sounds. Just take your good old J41 for a spin around IAD. ^_^
  13. Yeah, you need to install both, the normal and the oneworld one in order for the oneworld one to show up properly.
  14. Rob, you should maybe try a different weather engine. I use FSGRW and always had close to RW weather where I live. Don't know about turbulence though as it's a completely different story... I've had opus a while ago and wasn't impressed by it too much.
  15. Congrats man! Now you can tell people to read the manual on a whole new level!
  16. I'd say follow the flaps schedule and speed limitations when slowing down to Vref.
  17. Changing the texture max load in your fsx.cfg will not affect the aircraft at all. This setting only applies to scenery and the environment outside the aircraft.
  18. Sure, it's a hard task but if there ever will be a shared-cockpit feature for the NGX and upwards then this will definitely be a game-changer. It would be so much fun to fly with RW pilots on type and learn new things. Yes, FS2Crew does a great job in simulating a co-pilot but it's esentially a robot, that works by a script.
  19. Well, the most common variant of the -800 is the one with a MTOW of 79,015kg. it seems. Kind of odd to me to be honest.
  20. So I was just browsing through the FCOMv1 and looking for some numbers I needed and found something odd, which I funnily haven't noticed before. The MTOW and MLW numbers for the -600 to -900 span of variants seem to be off/wrong. The manual says that the 737-800's MTOW is 70,533kg while it should actually be around 79,000kg. I checked wikipidea/boeing's site/and the 737 website from the UK afterwards and it says 79t. there as well. Am I missing something or is this wrong? EDIT: I am aware that there is a normal and an IGW version of the -700. Here's my source I am relying on / referring to http://www.b737.org.uk/techspecsdetailed.htm
  21. Sure, that's the limitation of that particular app/service. I don't know why but I don't like googling charts - often they are outdated and don't match your navdata in the FMS or are from different providers/of a different layout, which makes them harder to read/undertand. Luckily I have my home-country covered with one provider and an up-to date database but then again as you described - if I want to fly somewhere odd/far it can be troublesome to get charts.
  22. Here's the thing. How practical would an EFB be in a virtual cockpit environment? Sure, maybe as a pop-up but why spend the effort to create such a thing, that again would cost way too much for the regular "flightsim enthusiast"? On the other hand a performance calculation feature only would make some sense in my opinion. I was looking at the LIDO iPad-app by LH Systems, which costs around 18€ and covers 40 major airports worldwide (including updates). I know this is pretty limited but so far it's the best solution for flightsim - as long as the airports you need are covered.
  23. And I didn't even know this variant existed...oh well.
  24. Rob looks great! I bet he had some fun testing. Really looking forward to the first previews...no not the release just the previews.
  25. No offense to the 172, I had my first real stick time in one but in FSX GA on its own is quite boring compared to some faster stuff like the P-51 with all the IFR equipment or a 777.
