  1. "Bump: Following internal team discussions we have increased the daily limit for the manual downloads from one to five (5) per day." http://www.orbxsystems.com/forum/topic/125019-orbxdirect-business-as-usual-daily-restriction-5x-on-manual-downloads-only-fss-wrappers-now-validate/?do=findComment&comment=1117073
  2. Looks like you're absolutely correct, Jeroen: "Nothing has been amended, we've made zero changes since my email yesterday. It was always only the manual downloads which were restricted. My mistake was not communicating this clearly, which caused all the fuss " http://www.orbxsystems.com/forum/topic/125020-thank-you-jv-and-the-team/?do=findComment&comment=1116961 I couldn't check for myself, as I want to keep my licenses with FSS for the time being. So I read and interpreted the ORBX email and the ensuing communication like the other 7 billion earthlings did. Glad this thing has been sorted quickly. Now when will the first ORBXDirect sale in the history of mankind start?
  3. It's worth noting that ORBX has actually changed their way of handling downloads through ORBXDirect two times since yesterday: "Perhaps we need to establish a ticket system for people who are doing system rebuilds or complete reinstalls can provide us some proof of their system state so we can lift the download cap for those in crisis without Orbx addons installed." http://www.orbxsystems.com/forum/topic/124974-effective-immediately-restrictions-on-downloads-of-fss-transferred-licenses/?do=findComment&comment=1116408 So initially downloads for reinstalls through OD and for backups seemed to be limited; now only downloads for backup purposes are capped.
  4. JV has just stated: "So let me clarify and perhaps summarise this topic and we can move on. 1. The only thing that has been limited to one (1) download per day is the manual download function: 2. You can still install as much products as you like through FTX Central 3 - no limits, no caps - that has not changed (...)" http://www.orbxsystems.com/forum/topic/124974-effective-immediately-restrictions-on-downloads-of-fss-transferred-licenses/?do=findComment&comment=1116942

  6. Except for the very latest updates which are tied to licenses held in OD. Older updates, from the pre-OD era are no problem, AFAIK.
  7. Christopher: "We have requested Adrian at FSS enable the validation server for all your old FSS wrapper installers so you can re-install from those at any time. Again, this is a temporary measure. We have not yet heard back from Adrian regarding this request but I am sure it won't be a major technical issue for him to implement."
  8. You can create an OD account, update to FTXCv3, get the very latest ORBXLIBS installed ... the exciting part starts no earlier than with your license transfer from FSS to OD.
  9. Check this out (registration required): http://www.orbxsystems.com/forum/topic/124974-effective-immediately-restrictions-on-downloads-of-fss-transferred-licenses/ Or check your emails if you already have registered at ORBXDirect.
  10. I believe my specs are similar to yours. I can run both planes smoothly, though not at high fps most of the times. VAS-wise the "trick" with the B777 is to update to their latest version, which provides a substantial VAS improvement, even in DX9 mode. For the A320-X the "trick" is to use the DX10 preview mode, as there is no other way to lower the VAS footprint of the FSL bus itself. Of course other addons influence VAS usage a lot and creating lower-impact graphics profiles (less autogen, less AI traffic, smaller level-of-detail radius etc.) helps with either plane.
  11. If they are out of business, they did a pretty good job to tidy up their room: Their least-liked B777 has received a couple of updates which make it at least flyable and enjoyable. And they released a beautiful Tristar. Kinda sad, I had just started to like them ...
  12. Instead of switching between regions and Global, one could easily define and save a couple of profiles for the graphics settings. It's easy to change the active profile - it can even be done in game without restarting the simulator.
  13. I use Scenery Config Editor to ... edit my scenery.cfg. Pls. note that numerous addon airport developers use the scenery\world\scenery folder to make necessary adjustments, it's not only ORBX. Also bgl files created by MyTraffic influence how your airports are displayed - this technique really isn't ORBX-specific.
  14. I installed ORBX in both FSX-MS and FSX-SE and they both work. I even chose to reinstall FSX-MS from scratch, and the ORBX part of it went smoothly and efficiently, mainly because FTX-Central (it was still v2 then, not yet v3) did a heck of a job to check for updates, update on its own, to advise where other updates could be found (in my FSS account and/or at the FTX support page). It even auto-migrated every batch of ORBX titles once I had them installed. Couldn't complain less ...
  15. I think JV did pretty fine here: http://www.orbxsystems.com/forum/topic/95456-farewell-to-tom-allensworth/?do=findComment&comment=866348
  16. The relationship between AVSIM and ORBX seems to have been problematic for years. You're asking a valid question, Michael, but I doubt any conceivable answer would be satisfactory.
  17. No, but just a single bite by a tiny little pony could actually kill a fully-grown hornet instantly.
  18. I've been a simMarket customer for years and have bought tons of addons from them. Not a single issue so far. I never had to ask for resetting my activation limits, though.
  19. AS16 requires a live internet connection on every start, no matter whether it's configured for manual mode or not. Hifi says it's for anti-piracy. I've kept my ASN installation in case I run into issues with my network adapter, my ISP or the servers on Hifi's side.
  20. In the FSL bus, the GPWS landing flaps 3 mode works correctly, in the Aerosoft bus, after three generations of AS busses, 3 servicepacks for the current generation, and countless hotfixes, it still doesn't. Seriously, the FSL bus has a lot to offer (independant systems and displays for onside and offside, all the Airbus flight laws, that little time lag for the E/WD message, when you switch on the landing lights, reverse thrust range on hardware levers even without a registered FSUIPC etc.) and the FSL forum offers a topic on "first impressions" from many different users that mentions a lot more features.
  21. If you buy these DVDs from FSS, the cross-grade license is *NOT* required. From the same page: "Customers who have purchased Orbx boxed DVD products from The FlightSim Store should NOT purchase cross-grade licenses, rather you are entitled to "purchase" the download versions free of charge." Once the box purchase has been processed by FSS, just "buy" the download version of the same title(s) - they will be provided at no additional cost (price will be zero then) from FSS. The cross-grade license only applies to box purchases from other stores.
  22. The price is in "Aerosoft Mega Airport territory". I will pick up a few of the smaller ORBX airports during a sale, but not as many anymore as I used to buy. Regions are still steals.
  23. Jim, PC Aviator (US) and Megasceneryearth are one and the same: http://www.megasceneryearth.com/store/cart.php?page=about "MegaScenery, MegaSceneryEarth, and all obvious derivatives are trademarks of PC Aviator Inc." MSE is a brand of PCA/US. Megasceneryearth.com is a "microsite" of PCA/US. I could contact them through either site. The reason I would contact them through the site I bought from is that this site holds my respective customer account.
  24. MSE is sold through megasceneryearth.com and through PC Aviator, so if I bought from PCA, I would contact their support, too. They are different stores with different customer accounts and different logins after all.
