  1. RadarContact does better than native sim ATC and it has an option to pause the sim xxx nm from your destination (xxx is user-defined in the general RC options). 200 nm works for every plane at every FL, except the Concorde or the SR-71, maybe.
  2. Bisperode is basically a pasture on the side of a hill. What I like about it is that ORBX modeled it as a "sloped runway". Landings are fun there.
  3. And those very same apps will never penalize for not switching off both flight directors with the autopilot being disengaged (Asiana 214) flying a resolution advisory on autopilot ("Children of the Magenta") using insane takeoff and climb thrust settings at low takeoff weights (look up the legacy B744 tutorials published by PMDG for a better way to handle those) etc. I concur with Kyle, authentic system behaviour and aircraft performance (and enabled failure simulation) can improve your skills and knowledge further than any fancy tool.
  4. I'm a long-term customer of simMarket with many products in my simMarket account. I remember a single support issue only, when I coudn't get their activation process to work. Answer by their support was kind of scant and of the RTFM type, but it turned out that I actually wasn't following their process to the letter and finally, when I tried again more precisely, their process worked for me. Yeah, their support did not look that polished to me, but in the end it turned out to be user error. Ian, the simMarket CEO is Miguel Blaufuks. It's a brand of simFlight GmbH, Germany, and they provide a postal address, a telephone no. and an email address in their imprint. Maybe you want to try and contact Miguel directly to sort this issue out? EDIT: Just looked up my old support tickets, starting in 2009 - there actually were two more issues when simMarket staff kept replying comprehensively and patiently - none of them used the name 'Jorge', though ...
  5. The CH throttle quadrant has six levers, so can be configured for twin engine GA aircraft (incl. turboprops) or for airliners with up to 4 engines (plus speedbrake lever, plus flaps lever). It also has six 2-way-buttons to assing further functions (toggle gear, arm speedbrake etc.) Finally it has a physical detent on each of the six levers, fairly close to the lower stop, which intuitively divides the range in forward thrust and reverse thrust (works even without a registered FSUIPC for the FSL A320-X, for example). Love it so far, a bit expensive, though, I have no experience with the Saitek throttles, unfortunately.
  6. Reloading panel states also works fairly well; IIRC there may be only a few items that get lost and require a quick scan and a bit of reconfiguring. The VNAV (and correspondingly the vertical deviation indicator) isn't really that good in the B757 yet (much better in their later Avroliners) - basic airmanship prevails! Overall the QW 757 provides excellent value for money.
  7. I'm sure PMDG could update their message or even provide the link here right from the OC: http://support.aerosoft.com/index.php?action=show&products=630 (Box updates are done via the box publisher's - Aerosoft - Support Database.)
  8. I've had my HDDs fragment over time without caring much about it, have defragmented them with the built-in tool in Win7, and have used UD3 as a payware. Unable to spot any differences in start-up time, fps or blurries, despite the fact that UD allows to define which folders you want to be placed on the "faster" outer tracks (your sim installation, for example), and which ones on the "slower" inner tracks (archives, for example). Reminds me of the bloating stuff some antivirus apps display.
  9. I do not really know ... ;-)

  10. Can't stop loving you (the QOTS II that is) ;-)

  11. Agreed, it's tough to digest everything that's in the intro doc at once; even more so to remember each and every detail mentioned there. But the search box of your pdf viewer works miracles.
  12. With Mark's settings (10-10-5) AS16 seems to be more in line with the video Ryan posted. (That's in FSX-SE.)
  13. Thanks for reposting those, David. Even at 20-20-10 the wing flex seems exaggerated to me. Will have to try Mark's settings.
  14. Page #2 of the simulation options. Or simply search for 'spike' in the intro doc.
  15. LOL, it must be 12 of 16 now after your post ...
  16. They are looking into it: http://www.avsim.com/topic/503381-where-is-my-topic-wing-model-vs-fuel-quantity/?p=3564698
  17. Process Explorer shows VAS in use, FSUIPC displays remaining VAS. They both always add up to the 4 GB VAS limit. (About 4.200.000 when expressed in Kilobytes)
  18. 650 Ti here with 1 GB VRAM and 4(!) screens in native HD resolution. 4x 3.5 GHz on the Intel i7 3770k. Performance with the NGX and the 777 is satisfactory; the 747 is even smoother than the 777. I run 16 GB of RAM, but anything above 8 GB should not increase FSX-SE performance any further. You should be fine.
  19. In PMDG terms v1 was the 744 for FS9, v2 the first (I) 744 for FSX-MS, v3 is the second (II) 744 for FSX-MS/-SE/P3D. PMDG advises against "overthinking it" in their intro doc. :Shame On You:
  20. I'm having my fair share of challenges with energy management in the B747 myself. Glad you didn't select FLCH ... ;-)
  21. It's an additional 45 USD on top of the FSX price, a 50% surcharge. I do not expect the P3D price for the B747 to rise further, but don't quote me on that ... ;-) Then again it's 5 USD less than a certain Airbus for P3D, but comes equipped with two more "spare" engines, so must be a bargain ... ;-)
  22. Update: I did a diversion to a different airport and saved that flight, too (using the right CDU). Reloading that flight resulted in a blank right CDU, and a working left one.
  23. A weather radar, for example, that works with Active Sky Next or AS 16.
