Real Pilots Needed!
Okay, so I do know that this post may get moved to a different section.... but I wanted to post here first as I've seen some really good things out of the PMDG forums, and have loved being a member here since the 747 release! I'm in my senior year of High School and am required to write a 5,000 word essay on a topic of my choice to pass this class. I then also have to give a 5 minute presentation about my topic in front of the class! Being a big fan of aviation, and planning to attend K-State in Salina to obtain my Professional Pilot Degree, I chose the topic of "How to become a successful airline pilot". One of the requirements of this project is to interview an expert on the topic, and to incorporate the interview answers into the paper. I have seen a lot of real world pilots in this forum, and I would like to see about connecting with one of them to email some questions/answers back and fourth! I'm really excited to hopefully get to ask my questions to one of you, and use you as the expert in my project. Are there any real world pilots who wouldn't mind me emailing them a couple of questions? Thank you all very much for your time, and blue skies!

APU powered Pushbacks and Taxi- the way of the future
I think it's a cool idea, but would take away from some of the feel of flight. Wouldnt the captain like that time to taxi to be able to feel out the engines and make sure nothing is wrong with them? I'm not a pilot, but am studying to be one, and I would definitely like to know if something is wrong on the ground during taxi instead of on my climb out! Starting on the ramp would give them time to run the engines, settle em in, and get the feel before departing with 150+ people in tow. Just my two cents.....

Push back Alternative
Just purchased GSX yesterday..... AMAZING!I had used AES for the longest time and loved it, however GSX blows it out of the water in terms of price and airport availability. I will miss the jetways of AES, but I'm going to love the realistic feeling of having a crew waiting wherever I go regardless of my destination!

Post SP1b LNAV Issue?
Hey Ryan,Thanks! I rechecked my calibration and everything seems fine. I also hadnt changed any hardware (even unplugged anything). It was weird because it looked as though it was going directly to my second leg "MARCI" but even that seemed a little off. It looked as though i should have been at least HDG 210 or a little greater to be even close to RSW and at least 200 or greater to be close to MARCI. I forgot to mention, there were no abnormal messages in the FMC and no "BYPASS" messages. I'm pretty sure this is on my end since you arent having that problem, I'll redo the same flight in the morning to see if I get the same results or not. Thanks!

Post SP1b LNAV Issue?
Hello -I'm not sure if this is really a problem with the NGX or if I completely missed something. I flew into KMCO the other day, no problem at all. Last night I updated my NGX to SP1b and departed KMCO this morning. I departed runway 36R and set up to turn left direct to RSW. After completing the turn I tuned on my Autopilot then my LNAV, then VNAV like I usually do. I had to click all three buttons twice each before they would engage (Yoke was centered and no control inputs were being put in at all). It continued to climb me up to FL360 like it was supposed to, and I am currently at FL360 and cruise speed. However my aircraft is not tracking direct towards RSW but flying at heading 195 (my heading selector is 000) and about 5-8 NM off of what my course should be.I just went back in to the FMC > Legs Page and clicked next to RSW and re-entered it as the current "waypoint" and it seems to be working now. But why did it not pick up like it was supposed to out of the "gate"? Everything in the cockpit checked out, no warning lights or anything like that. Nothing in the failures page either.Anyone else want to give that departure a shot and see if the same thing happens to them? KMCO, 36R, direct to RSW (No SID), FL360.Any imput would be appreciated!
- VA for the NGX!

Upgrade Time
hollins.t replied to hollins.t's topic in Video Hardware: Monitors | Multi-Monitors | Video Cards | Drivers etcYup, talked it over with geek squad too just to confirm that everything will work. I just need to check again to be sure it will fit in the tower as my current card is 6.6 and the new one is 9 (inches).

Upgrade Time
Hello, I currently have an Asus CG5720 BP0003 running an amazing ( ) nVIDIA GeForce GT 220. Back when this was "newer" it was great! But with new addons(and seeing other videos being posted on youbtube) it is very outdated and in need of an upgrade. I was looking around and have my eyes set on a GeForce GTX 560 TI to replace my current 220. I have checked to make sure that it will work/fit into my current system, however I wanted to take a minute to see if anyone else had upgraded recently, and if so, to what? I am about a month away from buying one, so I would like to see what other people have, or if you have a 560ti, how do you like it? Thanks!

Fs inn & Fs Copilot 737ngx
It doesn't seem to work the same for me when I do not enable the CAVOK button. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. That is why I posted the idea that I did.

Fs inn & Fs Copilot 737ngx
I had the same problem, however with a quick forum search I found the solution. Disable FSINN weather, enable the CAVOK button in the bottom of the FSINN CP, and then open up and reset FSX real world weather (or use a different, outside app for it). This fixed it for me as just disabling the FSINN weather did not work. Hope it helps!

TCAS and VATSIM
That is weird. I flew KMCO-MKJP the other day on VATSIM and watched an American 767 pass about 7NM off my right wing 1,000 feet above me, showed on TCAS the whole time. Not sure if the program used to connect to VATSIM has any effect on it, but I use FSINN.

Printing NGX Documentation
Haha thats great! I remember when I bought the PMDG 747-400X and looked though the manuals thinking "Oh, this isn't too much to print!" Days later.... and after many many many (did i mention many?) dirty looks from my family, I have my own big book of 747! :) It's right next to my bed..... I read it some nights.... lol.

Thank you PMDG
I would like to thank the members of PMDG for all f the hard work they have been putting in for years on this product. I have not had a chance to purchase it yet however I will be on the 16th. You guys truly are amazing and by what I have seen from the pictures, videos, and comments, have created the greatest Flight Simulator add on of all time. I would also like to thank you for showing outstanding patience and customer service in these forums. I have seen you guys calmly help many people with their issues even with their threats and lack of patience. You guys are the real deal, and I'd like to congratulate you on your new product and thank you once again! Really well done guys! To my fellow simmers, Please take a while and relax, the team has spent years on this product and have created a true gem in the flight simulation world. There is only one website that I have ever heard of that is able to fend off DDoS attacks and that is amazon.com. I heard that they have also been building up their servers for years to be able to handle the major load. Keep in mind that the PMDG team is busy, and they may not get back to you within 5 minutes on your support ticket, but they will help everyone out. Have fun everyone who has it or is about to get it! I hope everyone has safe flights(or not if you are simulating emergencies ;) ). Good luck PMDG team! Thank you all once again for your excellent service to release this outstanding product! -Tory Hollins
