  1. For landing lights, seatbelts, etc. I still think it's 10000 feet. Those are the standard procedures after all. As for approach speed, I think charts should be looked upon. Not a RL pilot, just seems logical this way.
  2. Patrick Houghton is right. Russian domestic charts are all metric. Don't know about China, but I have heard they use metric too. And probably CIS too. Jeppesen usually convert everything to imperial units + provide a "quick" conversion table on the charts. Other airports might have higher speed on approach. Pulkovo (Saint Petersbug, ULLI) has max 270 knots below 10000 feet. Here are the charts for ULLI: Provided by Russia (English and Russian): http://ivao.e-labs.ru/sites/default/files/charts/ulli.pdf Jeppesen charts: http://www.va-uralairlines.ru/charts/ULLI.pdf
  3. I didn't like the music much . Plus it was the reason why it wasn't available to watch in Germany. Nevertheless nice video and it's always fun to see pilots liking their job.
  4. So you guys saying 736/7 easier to land than good ol' 738? Just now had a really smooth and nice landing in thunderstorm conditions. Plane was shaking quite a bit. And that crosswind didn't make it easier either. But in the end, nothing makes me feel better than making a great landing in such conditions.
  5. I had a lot of bad landing lately. After one month hiatus and trying to get back for few weeks into "the zone", only today I managed to perform somewhat acceptable landings.
  6. Same here. And my anti-blocking measures don't work anymore after Youtube update. Could someone please upload this video on Vimeo or somewhere else?
  7. It's three monitors actually . Gotta love 'em fly boys. Reminds me the time I spoke with AT controller and naturally topic about flight sims came up. Unfortunately he knew nothing about PMDG. When I said I play FS 10 his reply was "flight simulator 2010" and I said "no it came out in 2005 it's just the version number". Afterwards we just discussed approaches .
  8. Sorry if I sounded a bit rude. Just you know, a lot of repetitive topics pop up here. And then people might not find what they were looking for. And P.S., sign you posts with your real name. It's a PMDG boards thing.
  9. This was already posted here before.
  10. Priceless . You Sir, have made my day. Now to figure out how to replace boring Boeing alarm with chorus from this tune. Steve Inwood, are you still here?
  11. Now please update your first post with these links. And someone, make this thread a sticky, pretty please.
  12. Yeah, that's what I've meant, converting to .wav, not simply renaming. Thanks for reply. I also found some nice "Cabin crew take your seats" type of sound in stock FSX files. Gonna try and apply them to NGX later
  13. A quick question for you Steve. So I can basically convert any sound file to .wav and rename it accordingly and it will stick? Or is there any other rules.
  14. Flying VOR/DME approaches is fun. Especially cycling ones. -800 lands on shortish runways nicely too. My hometown airport has 6988 LDA airfield + a sharp turn before a not so long final. Awesome. Bringin' this baby down is so cool.
  15. Fabo, are you a RL pilot? Because you always answer a question very, very well. After reading your replies, I never have any further questions. As for topic, well Google is your friend. just write "[airport's ICAO code, i.e. ULLI] charts", hit enter, print and voila. Most of them are dated though, and sometimes nav data on the plane doesn't add up with charts (some name changes usually, no biggy), but in the end it still helps you to get the idea. And having even dated charts is worthy. I remember I had a talk with AT controller from my local airport, since I fly there it was interesting what kind of approaches they usually give and so on, and he took out same charts I use to sim .
  16. So that's what it was. I remember I had such thing flying from Turku, Finland to Riga, Latvia. It tossed my plane quite nicely...
  17. Sure. I would like to (T7 is my second favorite a/c, after 737), but (a) l don't like or plan on long haul flights, (B) I prioritize my budget. If I would have some spare dough it sure would go to GSX. OP, sorry for off-topic discussions.
  18. IMO, ASE is a rip-off. Talking about GSX, even if it's only one time pay, still a bit to deep for my pocket.
  19. Thank you. I've kinda missed it.
  20. Same here. I also never heard "TCAS test OK" sound. Although I'm not sure what I have to do in order to hear it :D. Looks like ordinary GPWS test is not enough.
