  1. For those curious, about :24 in this video shows the difference in Tobii/FaceTrackNoIR steadiness when holding your head still while off-center.
  2. When FaceTrackNoIR is running it overrides the in-game settings as far as I could tell when I set it up last night. You'll want to set all your keyboard/joystick shortcuts and curves in the FaceTrackNoIR settings. You can still turn on and off headtracking within MSFS but I just trashed all my in-game key bindings. Here are the steps from the Tobii Discord that I followed: 1. Download FaceTrackNoIR by paying for it and getting a download link 2. Download Tobii5 headtracker plugin (on facetracknoir download page) 3. Download Plugin-Pack for FaceTrackNoIR (on facetracknoir download page) 4. Install #1 above, then #2 and #3 5. Ensure Tobii Eye Tracker is already on and working 6. Ensure Tobii Gamehub is NOT running 7. If it exists, delete "HeadTracker.dll" from the DCS World/bin 8. Run FaceTrackNoIR 9. Set "Tobii5 Tracker" as "Tracker Source (1st = Master) 10. Set "Accela Filter Mk2" as "Filter" 11. Set "Game protocol" as "FreeTrack 2.1" 12. Change other settings as preferred (ex. Invert, Curves, hotkeys, etc) 13. Click "Start" under "GO!" 14. Run DCS, get into a plane, and enjoy 15. Remember to re-center using a hotkey setup in facetracknoir
  3. I've been using my Tobii for over a year and it works fine but has a few limitations I dislike. Probably just personal preference from a decade with TrackIR and becoming used to its behavior. Very limited customization when it comes to behavior and curves. I personally also like the ability to pause the tracking at a viewpoint. If I lean in and look at a specific instrument it's nice to be able to pause the headtracking at that location and adjust knobs/dials. You stop Tobii head tracking in MSFS and it snaps back to the default cockpit viewpoint. As others have said, when looking at extreme angles and trying to hold your head still it will "shake" or just look unstable in-game. I have shared this with Tobii support and they told me it is a known issue, a software update would fix it eventually but to download FaceTrackNoIR as a solution. I honestly just downloaded FacetrackNoIR after a year of being stubborn.... holy word not allowed it is so much better now. Tracking feels more accurate, smooth and stable. I can fine tune the curve for each axis. It has an option to "stay when off" so your view holds where you're looking when you pause tracking. Thanks @MrBitstFlyer for finally pushing me to bite the bullet and spend $4 lol.
  4. Good stuff. I may go this route and see how it works. It just rubs me the wrong way that I spent ~$250 on the device and I need $4 third-party software to make it behave as it should.
  5. Just Flight has commented on the YT video saying release date is still scheduled for tomorrow if everything goes as planned. So excited for this release.
  6. Just so you know, that's more directed at commercial users and is $350. They now sell a $40 mount that screws onto any tripod. Last year I purchased a little $10 tripod and a $13 magnet mount that the Tobii snaps to perfectly. Tripod Magnet mount
  7. I have had the same issue and reached out to them sometime last year and sent them a video of the issue. If looking down and over and the center pedestal or up and over to the overhead panel and you try to hold your head still you get some "shaking" I would say. This is pretty much my only gripe with Tobii. I was told they are working on a new software update that should address this. No timeframe or anything was given.
  8. Here are the links: Tripod Magnetic mount The magnetic mount just screws right onto the tripod and then the Tobii sticks to the magnet really well.
  9. Basically. Mine is accurate for about the inner 3/4 of the screen but just gets inaccurate if you are looking to the extreme edges of the monitor. Not too erratic or anything.
  10. 30" is technically the size limit for accurate eye tracking. The mounting solution that comes with the device should mount on a curved monitor just fine. I currently run a 42" monitor and I have it too far away for the Tobii to work properly so I came up with a solution of having it mounted on a magnet attachment on a little tripod which I set at a specific location on my desk. It works flawlessly. Head tracking should work regardless of monitor size. There is also zero impact on in-game performance. My solution.
  11. Not to mention that system would pull nowhere near that. I have a slightly undervolted 4090 and a OCd 13600K and I'm averaging 300-350W between the two in MSFS.
  12. Same here. Fenix update was casing instant crashes for me so I opted out. Went without a hitch really other than the toolbar being gone.
  13. Specs in signature. Verticalsim KBOI with FSLTL traffic. Same exact scenario. 4k everything ultra with 200 TLOD. PMDG: 102 FPS Fenix: 99 FPS Fenix used to be about 80 FPS and noticeably choppier. In my experience they now both feel the exact same in regards to fluidity.
  14. I was having freezing and CTD issues so I opted out of the beta to try out the new Fenix. Fantastic experience here. Flew into Verticalsim KBOI and my frames were on par with PMDG. Much smoother experience than before.
  15. Bummer, I'm on SU13 beta and the sim just freezes and then I get a CTD within the first 5 seconds every time. But I knew it was a risk since the beta isn't supported.
  16. New blog post: https://fenixsim.com/blog/ Update rolling out in about an hour from now.
  17. Not who you are quoting but I'm running a 13600k with a 4090 and I continue to say the 4090 is the best hardware upgrade I've ever made in my 25 years of simming. Having a sim that looks as good as MSFS, running in 4k with the fluidity of 100+ FPS and G-Sync is something I literally never thought I would see.
  18. Yes, not at home right now but from what I remember in the camera.cfg there should be a line called "InitialXyz - XX.X, XX.X, XX.X" or whatever. Pretty sure Z is the distance forward/back.
  19. Yeah, they showed some pictures at the end and it seems pretty darn far along.
  20. I'm really excited for this one. Heard bits and pieces about it so it's awesome to finally get a glimpse. No real reason why but I've always had a soft spot for this plane.
  21. My office is also my music listening space so I have a dac/amplifier/bookshelf speakers with a sub. It sounds good for games as well but I think a nice headset sounds the best for flight sim. The Fenix takeoff sounds are incredible when running through headphones.
  22. It's due to HDR and depends what you are using to capture the screenshot I've found the easiest solution to capture screenshots in HDR is to use the Windows Game Bar (Windows+G) it will save a .png that's tone mapped to be viewable in SDR and a .jxr that's in HDR.
  23. Between KBOI and KPDX in the Fenix or 737. Both have solid add-on sceneries, about an hour flight with beautiful scenery, usually pretty different weather at each location and I'm from the area so it makes it a bit more fun for me.
  24. I will say one of the fans on my Gigabyte 4090 has started rattling at certain RPMs. Zero coil whine though.
