Searching for RTM water and rain shaders...
DX10Fixer has worked wonders for my FSX and I am so thankful for it. My issue is that the 'Water Shader' and 'Rain Shader' options are grayed out because i have altered versions of those files. I would like to restore them to the RTM default so that I can utilize the water and rain shader options. I am not sure exactly what files i need or where they should go. Any ideas would be appreciated...

DX10 glitch with bloom enabled
Hmm I have never seen this specific issue you describe, but as you say it must have something to do with the Bloom filter interacting with ur plane as it transits cloud layers. All I can say is try it with and without native bloom, try lower res. REX clouds, try a diff. plane in case it is something about external lights of the model bugging out with bloom when u transit clouds. Sorry i am as stumped as you are, wish I could help more...

Does Pepar3D work in 64-bit mode ?
Running FSX in DX9 caused me regular OOMs due to its memory model of mapping all the contents of the graphics card memory onto the system RAM, causing it to regularly hit the 4GB code limit in FSX. In DX10 using the fixes, I never get any OOMs at the same close to maxxed-out settings, and FSX RAM usage is greatly reduced and never gets close to the 4GB wall. There is my 2 cents for what its worth.

DX10 glitch with bloom enabled
My first thought was it could be the strobe or exterior lighting of the plane you are flying bugging out due to Bloom. I use SweetFX to enable bloom and disable the bloom within FSX, and have not had this problem you describe, and I am using DX10Fixer.

How does RC4 choose runways?
Thank you very much for information and clarifying this for me, I will see what I can do to lock the destination weather when within approach distance to the airfield.

How does RC4 choose runways?
Quick question, I have more then once noticed incorrect runway assignments given by RC, using a 3rd party weather engine set to update every 15 minutes or 40 km, in which the assigned runway does not match wind conditions (e.g. assigned to land on a runway with a strong tailwind). How do you refresh AI manually in FSX?

Have any of you tried this? (SweetFX)
I am using DX10, I do have some settings for AA enabled in NI (I won't bore you with them here), and yes in SweetFX, I also enable SMAA and sometimes FXAA.

DX10 and SweetFX 1.4
I installed SweetFX for my friend's FSX, he had a non-standard keyboard. The 'injector.ini' file that you put in the FSX root directory has keymaps in it. If you have a non-standard type of a keyboard lacking a Scroll-Lock or Pause-Break key, you have to remap keys following the given syntax in injector, ini, using the ASCII keycodes. Scroll-Lock enables/disables SweetFX on the fly, Pause-Break applies setting changes you made (by first making them and then clicking 'Save Config' in the Configurator). I don't know if any of this means anything to you or helps, but I did have to remap keys on my friend's FSX setup to get SweetFX working.

Have any of you tried this? (SweetFX)
Ah I see, in fact I have not seen any fps hit at all using SweetFx alone, did you mean that you see a big hit using Shade in combo with SweetFX?

Have any of you tried this? (SweetFX)
Wow it looks stunningly good, I already have SweetFX nicely tweaked to my satisfaction, 1 preset for day flight, another for night. I will throw Shade into the mix for sure, I can see from the screenies it really does add depth to the shadowing effects, thanks guys for the input

Have any of you tried this? (SweetFX)
I am curious if anyone has used Mogwaisoft Shade and SweetFX together, if so are there any conflicts/duplications between the effects of each program? I am curious what Shade can add that SweetFX does not already add. I would like to experiment using both but if anyone has already done it successfully, it would be nice to know anything more about combining these two graphics enhancements.

one question... is RC worth it?
Another thing you can do to reduce playback lag or skips is to set the RC process to higher priority and/or set its core affinity to another, less active processor core, using Task Manager. Doing this has decreased the lag and skips considerably for me even on my underpowered system.

DX10 and SweetFX 1.4
As I said you want to make sure any and all traces of old DX9 ENB or SweetFX installs are not present in your FSX root directory or folders. There is a different set of DX10 files you copy to your FSX directory, I know mixing the DX9 and 10 ones will cause problems. Once this is done correctly it should load in automatically with no input from you except using the Scroll-Lock and Pause-Break keys. Maybe I am missing something here...

Am I doing something wrong with REX?
As long as you have User Defined selected, you start up REX after FSX is loaded in, click 'Fly Now' in REX and let the live weather inject for your plane's location, you should be seeing some change. Make sure of course you have already loaded up some REX textures before you start FSX as well. Double check the .pdf manual for settings. Its late and my brain is slow, there could be other issues but is hard for me to tell unless I am actually at your computer or get a more detailed explanation of your exact setup.

Am I doing something wrong with REX?
First thing that comes to mind is, make sure your in-game Weather Settings are set to: User Defined.

one question... is RC worth it?
I have no RW flight experience and only became a Flight Sim afficionado in the last 18 months or so. I have found RC to be a great learning tool for simulating ATC interaction in what seems to be a realistic way. It has a few bugs, cannot really handle VFR, depending on your system power the audio playback can be slow and unresponsive, and finally yes it has a somewhat steep learning curve. But this is a simulation, not a game, steep learning curves come with the territory. I would still recommend RC for sure to anyone semi-serious about their FS hobby. Supposedly next month, some word will be out about development plans for a new version of RC, I certainly hope it is a project that comes to fruition. And yes try out the 'Meatwater' Voice Pack version 2, it improves on the realism and speed of the audio voices.

DX10 and SweetFX 1.4
Assuming you have installed SweetFX 1.4 correctly, and it is working correctly (having old dx9 and related .dlls and .fx files from old ENB or other graphics mods in your FSX root directory will cause problems), what I do is load up FSX, then if i want to change or fiddle with SweetFX, load up the Configurator. Scroll-lock enables/disables the added effects on the fly, Pause-break reloads new setting changes you made in the Configurator on the fly. Some good FSX presets can be found here: http://sfx.thelazy.net/games/game/136/ Maybe this does not help, its actually quite simple once you get it setup right. The Configurator has about 15+ subcategories, I use SMAA antialiasing, Bloom, HDR, LumaSharpen, Lift Gamma Gain, Vibrance, and Dither. You can disable Bloom in FSX but enable it using SweetFX.

RealAir C172
This thread is almost a year old, hopefully the RA or A2A C172 will be released before its a 2 yr old thread ... looking forward to sampling both of them myself, I am confident they will both be superb models.

What are you having no luck with, FSX crash or cannot see the results of SweetFX?

How Are We Doing?
I am only a humble and relatively new Flight Sim enthusiast, no RW flight experience at all, but I find Avsim forums to be an absolutely indispensible resource for my FSX information and questions.

confused on AA settings
Glad to hear it about DX10 I am in the same boat as you are now, never going back to DX10, and thanks for the heads up regarding the AA/SGSS settings, that was a source of confusion to me as well.

SweetFX
I used the Avsim guide and a number of tools/fixes (Steve's, others) to enable DX10 in FSX. The jump in frame-rate alone, and the fact that in DX10 video memory is not re-mapped onto system memory as it is in DX9 makes it worth it, to say nothing of the total disappearance of OOM errors and crashes, and being able to use addon graphic tools like SweetFX with no trouble at all. It can take a bit of time, patience, and tweaking with the various DX10 fixes, and changes in ur FSX.CFG and video card settings, but in my view it is all more then worth it, in DX10 I feel I have a more stable, fluid, and beautiful simulator.

Anyone use FS Global Ultimate for meshes here?
I have been using FS Global Ultimate: Americas, and the Europe/Africa product as well. The mesh is superb quality, it is dense data so you need a computer and storage system up to the task. Some airport elevation issues are to be expected, but you can use the AFM Tool, 'Aerodrome Flattening Mesh', to deal with the elevated or depressed airfields you are bound to run into. I would recommend it highly, but only if you have a very fast and large storage system for FSX.
