June 8, 201312 yr Okay, this is like inviting the world to grab their ball-peen hammers and start smacking the wazoo out of our thumbs, but we'll do our occasional temperature check anyway. So, how are we doing? Are we providing you the content you need? Are we providing enough variety in our forums and features? Is there something else we could provide in the way of forums, features, whatever? Do you have any suggestions for content? Let us know what you are thinking and your assessment of how well AVSIM is serving you. RANT If you want to use this as an opportunity to blast us about system response time, instead simply send us a check for $35,000 so that we can upgrade all of our servers to the latest / greatest technologies and double our bandwidth. If you are not willing to do that, then please know that we are aware that in some places in the UK and in central Europe, you don't see immediate, instantaneous, speed of light responses. We know that, are painfully aware of it, and have stopped loosing sleep over it. /RANT Okay, so, how are we doing?
June 8, 201312 yr Okay, so, how are we doing? Your doing fine....Just fine B) For me it is not about the latest server or load times etc. I find AVSIM to be a great bunch of like minded individuals that gather to expand on this crazy hobby of ours. The forums work fine, the library works fine, technology wise it is a major leap compared to the GO FSFORUM back in the Compuserve days. Reality is the people on here is what make AVSIM great. Compared to other forums this one is the most enjoyable in the world of Flight Sim. Cheers Guys Matthew Kane I'm Dyslexic, what's an error to you is not to me
June 9, 201312 yr Author Would be better if tapatalk worked. I agree with you. Now, as I have asked before; since it is crap, shouldn't we remove it and everyone simply use the MOBILE theme? Every time I ask that I get a resounding NO. We have no control over the TT except to remove it.
June 9, 201312 yr Would be better if tapatalk worked. I use tapatalk every day here on the forum. (I'm using it now). I've never understood what the problem is? It has always worked just fine for me. June 9, 201312 yr Me too on TT 99,9% of my time here. I have no problems at all, and Tom, you're doing fine. I am here every day and loving it

Every time I ask that I get a resounding NO. We have no control over the TT except to remove it. But it's not crap. I use it for my va, for flightsim.net's forums, and here. I also have a couple non-aviation forums I use it for.Out of all those forums, avsim is the only one that seems to have an issue with it. My question is why it's so difficult here but seemingly works fine elsewhere? *edit* To answer those above, the TT module here doesn't keep an accurate record of read topics. If I go through the "latest" list and mark them all as 'read' then refresh, they just pop back up again. Makes it impossible to stay on top of fresh posts. AJ Pongress

My version of TT doesn't do that at all here at Avsim. Once I mark a topic as read, it disappears from the "latest" list until such time as a new reply is added to the topic. It has always worked that way for me. FWIW , I'm running the latest version of the TT client on an iPhone 4S. Another oddity - several weeks ago, when the site was experiencing significant access problems for many users, I could swear Tom said that he had turned of Tapatalk services for several days while troubleshooting the servers. Yet, during that period, when TT services were supposed to be unavailable, I was still able to use my TT client to access Avsim forums. June 9, 201312 yr I don't praise any thing, in fact I criticize most things, so for me to say your doing well is a huge compliment!

I think the over the response time (not town!) and the brief outages just reiterate how well you are doing indeed... So all in all just But Tom, don't forget, Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk
June 9, 201312 yr Years ago when I first used FS, I wasn't even aware of AVSIM. In the last year, since I am now retired, I have spent a GREAT deal of time and money getting back into FS. The AVSIM staff have been excellent in responding to my questions (some rather trivial) and the support on technical FSX issues and tuning have been extremely valuable to me. THANKS!!!!!! :clapping: :Applause: Also would like to thank the many members who have helped me because of the contributions they make in postings on the forums and the AVSIM Library - thanks to each of you!!! :Applause: _________________________________________________________________________ Bob "roadwarrior" Werab Config: ASUS Prime Motherboard, RYZEN 5, 32 GB Ram, Radeon RX5700 XT, 2 TB SSD
June 9, 201312 yr Tapatalk works just fine with Avsim. Maybe it does not work well with iphones? Look in every day to Avsim even after all these years and although there are some things I may not agree with, overall it is THE place for opinion. Sent from my GT-N7100 using Tapatalk 2
June 9, 201312 yr Hi Tom, probably I'm not using TT to its utmost but I've never had any trouble with it on avsim. Paul
