Well, the Grumman Traveler has, when you start, a much stronger torque effect than the C172 v3, but this was one of several reasons why the traveler never had the remarkable success that the C-172 had It reacts much faster than the C-172 but it had some nasty surprises during start and landing for newbies. So flight schools tended to buy more C-172 while the trainer might have favored the Traveler. In cruise flight the traveler has no torque issues. The Piper Archer III is IMHO one of the planes with the best handling under X-Plane (including v3 Carenados!). A real Piper Archer pilot claimed that this plane now handles exactly like his real plane. Nope, it isn't recognized as a bug, but X-Plane now has tools that allow developers to fine tune their aircrafts with overrides directly..

Drzewiecki New York Airports XP
Longranger replied to MarioDonick's topic in The X-Plane General Discussions Forum
In New York the real performance issues are New York, not the Airports by itself. My best resits I got wirh World2Xp and limiting the number of objects and distance. -
What would you like to see for XPX in 2015?
Longranger replied to mwilk's topic in The X-Plane General Discussions Forum
It got pushed back since Ben realized that he would have trouble to meet the start of the beta phase of 10.30 while there were a lot of people waiting for the 10.30 features. And it would be totally crazy to push it in beforwe 10.40. Such a change would need a complete alpha and beta phase to be considered stable. -

Impossuble if they stay on OpenGL. With OpenGL everything depends on the Card developer since they have to write the necessary OpenGL drivers. It is the bad quality of the ATI OpenGL drivers that you are complaining about. If you would ask ATI they would simply tell you that they schold develoip in Mantle. -
Drzewiecki New York Airports XP

Thanks for your great work. It really enhances them dramatically, since this was the biggest issue I found on them. With these static planes they at least look like busy airports. -
New to X-Plane and looking for advice
Longranger replied to SirStiggie's topic in The X-Plane General Discussions Forum
The 737 is a 737-200 without an FMC, so it doesn't use a GPS either. The A 350 has currently strict limitations in its FMC. It doesn't support SIDs and STARS yet. You have to wait for the Pro Version for that. Sounds a bit crazy but it is quite common in the X-Plane world. The designers have only limited cash reserves and so they can earn money while the plane is still under development. -
HD Mesh Scenery v3 for X-Plane 10 released
Longranger replied to alpilotx's topic in The X-Plane General Discussions Forum
It should be obvious by now. The dsf files are NEVER editet by hand, at least not from AlpilotX! There can only be checks for the source data, and if someone mioght be able to fix the source data, or if there is a misinterpretation by the workflow and if a change in the workflow might be more harmfull. -
Carenado Baron and C340 on sale
Longranger replied to vonmar's topic in The X-Plane General Discussions Forum
Well, better sound, better graphics, better handling, Scroll-wheel support. The C340 on the other hand is probably ,together with the Malibu, the Carenado Plane that I nearly never use. -
GNS 430W/530W questions
Longranger replied to brucek's topic in The X-Plane General Discussions Forum
It is available if you open the plane with the planemaker. There you can configure the plane to use the new GNS 430. Then the 3D GPS Display might only show you the com frequencies, but with a click on the Display you get the real 2D Pop Up. -
HD Mesh Scenery v3 for X-Plane 10 released
Longranger replied to alpilotx's topic in The X-Plane General Discussions Forum
Exactly. First there have to be some people that have downloaded some content till you will see a significant download speed since the upload speeds are in many cases only a frction of the download speed and the download clients have to play nice since the computer must be always useable. -
Well, they started with these "stupid iOS games", while they were developing X-Plane 10. So I don't really see why a few updates shall be so significant. These updates were probably in development while parts of their teams worked on X-Plane 10.30. Since they use multi plattform code on the Mac these iOS games are on a totally different code base and they probably only share testing capacities.

You are wrong. While you can't fill the VRAM with Default Scenery: World 2 X-Plane, HD-Mesh or Photoscenery, complex airports and Sky MAXX Pro will show you that even 4 GB RAM are not unlimited.

Carenado v3 C208 available
Longranger replied to jcjimmy's topic in The X-Plane General Discussions Forum
As I said. Carenado gathers a few v3 planes till they are released as a group to other retailers. Wether it is .org, Aerosoft or simmarket. -
Carenado v3 C208 available
Longranger replied to jcjimmy's topic in The X-Plane General Discussions Forum
This wi9ll take a while. The v3 updates are only released to other resellers in groups. So this time it will probably be the C208, the baron 58, the Bonanza A36 and the 337. -
X-Plane 10.31 crashing?
Longranger replied to jlund's topic in The X-Plane General Discussions Forum
Not really. What does your log.txt say after such a crash? -
Missing scenery_packs.ini
Longranger replied to johnbla's topic in The X-Plane General Discussions Forum
And did you really install the sceneries correctly ? It has to be a folder and inside this folder you should see a folder Earth nav data. Otherwise there is probably something wrong if it isn't a library. -
Carenado's .V3 Aircraft

Carenado's .V3 Aircraft
Longranger replied to ohsirus's topic in The X-Plane General Discussions Forum
No. If you have reached the 3 downloads limit you simply have to contact their support. Furthermore, in case of Updates you will now get a separate download link for the updates. (At least for the B1900D this was the case). -
So when do the updates stop?
Longranger replied to N1G's topic in The X-Plane General Discussions Forum
There is a wrong expectation behind this thought. There is no real date: Everything till then is developped for the current version, everything after this will be a part of the next version. Instead it is a gradual process. Some features are simply not mature (or hardened) enough to be released as a small update. Some features might need a new API and gradually more and more features don't become a part of the4 active release. Furthermore: Don't expect a delay as between X-Plane 9 and 10. X-Plane 10 had to put X-Plane on a new foundation. We don't need a new foundation, we simply need bigger changes in the area of ATC/ AI planes and perhaps in the interaction of different parts of the sim. IMHO the LUA fix is hack but not a real solution. -
So when do the updates stop?
Longranger replied to N1G's topic in The X-Plane General Discussions Forum
At least the second argument is more or less correct. X-Plane doesn't really look at competitors instead they look at their own resources. DUe to their limited crew they can work extremly efficient Since profit is the difference between costs and earnings they can be pretty profitable with a limited amount of customers. And most add on companies would be extremly against a feature freeze. You always have to ask: What is the reason between major versions and minor versions: Major versions can change their APIs significatly, minor versions have to be extremly careful whenever they change the APIs. -
So when do the updates stop?
Longranger replied to N1G's topic in The X-Plane General Discussions Forum
Very unlikely, since there are now a number of companies that are coming to X-Plane. Aerosoft seems to be working on their very first X-Plane plane. The EETN Airport was ported to X-Plane, Icarus , the team that made the Mykonos airport is currently working on Manchester, TruScenery is working on EFHK and I don't think that I have to write anything about Tom Curtis. And if you look at the number of planes that already got 10.30 updates you should really ask yourself: Would they be putting so much work on a plattform that looses money for them and that they expect to fail. X-Plane could simply say: Ok, we are now concentrating a bit more on X-Plane 11, we only add the following features to X-Plane 10... And there are a number of big features that they could put into X-Plane 11. A better integration of external scripts, since the current hack to have LUA working in 64 bit is only a hack. Better integreation of complex Airliner operations, like a capability to detect at least other vehicles and planes on an airport. Give external applications a better access to a simplified terrain, so that they can program their own Garmin1000 avionic systems. A working ATC system. A weather system with more than 3 cloud layers.. In fact I expect that they earned much more money with X-Plane 10 than they ever earned with X-Plane 9. I know several people who add X-Plane to their system since they believe that X-Plane is the plattform of the future. A P3D in 64 bit doesn't have any appeal for them, since they can't reuese their old FSX stuff anyway. Don't expect any problems for them to sell X-Plane 11. There will be several companies ready to sell their updated planes for a small fee to show you that the new features are worth it. -
Gliders and microlights in X-Plane
Longranger replied to tonywob's topic in The X-Plane General Discussions Forum
That's a pretty good question. I have to admit that what I saw in X-Plane till today wasn't very impressive. In fact I have to say that the best light weight aircraft that I found in X-Plane till today is the Aero Boero ( http://store01.prostores.com/servlet/x-planestore/Detail?no=535 ). I think especially the sound effects would play a big role and would probably mean so much work that the whole project would have a hell of a time to get to the break even point, since it would probably be a small niche within the small niche of X-Plane customers. -
X-Plane crashes on startup
Longranger replied to neilhr's topic in The X-Plane General Discussions Forum
Especially in this plane. The official statement a few days ago improvements in the navigation in the next update (no release date set) but not for the radios. But I hope that the ScrollWheel integration in ALL Carenados and in the FlighFactor A350 will be a SLIGHT incentive. The Carenado B1900D doesn't really fear the Saab 340A.
