Hey! First my advice is to get yourself a joystick! There's some good cheap ones and surely for less than the price of the NGX. What are you using to disconnect the AP? I'm not sure the default fsx command works. Ps. You must sign your posts with your full name as per forum rules ;-)

First of all let me apologize for exploiting this forum for something not strictly related to a PMDG product, but, and I've used this very valid reason before, this forum is in my opinion the one around that hosts the most technically sound, knowledgeable and pleasurable crowd, a community within a community if you want. Coming to my question then. Can anybody advise me a good book about the aviation industry? I'm particularly interested in something about the development/strategies of the modern aviation companies/bodies as opposed to the more technical side. What got me wondering was the sort of dichotomy between operators that focus on one brand of aircrafts as opposed to those who have more, thinking about Boeing/Airbus obviously and what's the point in having different planes that could cover the same role (see B73xs vs Airbus A32xs and B76/77s and A33/38s) Thank you all

Hi! Over on the majestic forum (sorry for mentioning the (other" developer) there's talk of their plane affecting the other aircrafts in fsx after its installation. I would have a look and maybe fly a set scenario, uninstall the q400 and repeating the same set scenario to try troubleshoot this issue. Just my 2c

With all due respect, I disagree! I personally think IvaP is awful! It really could do with a bit of lightening, it's such a heavy thing to run and is responsible for a good part of my ctds! No offence meant!

Thanks for the reply Kyle, I am aware of the failures features of the models but what I meant by my not very clear question is if there are "dynamic failures"? Failures that will happen dynamically as you "make mistakes"? In a nutshell I know we can set the failures in various modes on these two models (NGX and MD11) -on demand -timed -service based (NGX only) -randomly at a rate and severity of choice (MD11) what I don't know is, with no failures selected OR failures selected is damage to the aircraft modelled in an independent way from what listed above (eg. the max flap extension speed)? Are the physical/structural limits of the a/c besides overspeed and overweight simulated and have consequences? I am afraid I am finding it a bit difficult to be any clearer without being pedantic. PS Kyle yesterday I was going through your tutorials on routing, just wanted to mention what an excellent job I think those are!

Hi all. Sometimes a time comes when you realize an obvious, maybe even stupid, question has never had an answer because you just assumed it and suddenly you're not so sure anymore. So, here's the deal. I currently own the NGX, the J41 and the (just bought!) MD11. Without taking into account the engine failures of the J41, do things break if misused in these aircrafts? And if so, how? Is it dependent on the failure settings? Let's say, I exceed the flaps maximum extension speed by... 100kt. That ought to do some damage to the a/c? Sorry if it's obvious but I'm curious as nothing like this has ever happened to me! Basically, do actions have consequesnces? Cheers all!

Hi all, was having a look at the PMDG wikipedia's page, first of all, I don't mean to start any rumor of any kind and am fully aware that wikipedia is editable so could potentially be very misleading. It's nice to see that obviously many people that are affectionate to this bird love this sim so much and are ready to voice it. Can't wait to fly it now! Any known problems of useful tweaks for a first install thay anybody is aware of? (might as well exploit the fact that it has been out for a while...)

Hi all, just a quick one. I have always had a thing for this wonderful bird, so I have been thinking for a while to purchase the PMDG sim of the MD11. The only thing that is stopping me now is the doubt if it is not a bit too "old", in software terms. So basically the question is this, is it still worth it? If some current owner could spare some advice and possibly a few pros and cons I would be grateful. Cheers!!

Hi all, I'm posting this in this forum because of the high knowledge level and similar requirements that I find in here with my fellow PMDG enthusiasts. I'm finding more and more FSX at night to be unnaturally bright and the visibility too good at night to be realistic. Is there a way to tweak the settings to make the nights darker with all it means (eg darker terrain, skies, clouds etc..). I add that I use rex and gsx+utx. Thank you in advance and sorry for surely duplicating a thread that must have appeared in the past.

I agree on the fact that the development process of these two manifacturfers is interesting but bear in mind that there is a very wide difference betweet Airbus style.wingtip fences and the Boeing scimitar wingtips with ventral fins

Hi! You will need to be a bit more specific about your problem as I'm finding it quite difficult to figure out what you mean. I assume by jetway you mean airway? If so a good starting point on how to enter a flightplan in the fmc are the two tutorials. Go trough them carefully. You do not need to enter all waypoints of an airway into the fmc and waypoints do occasionally change and so do the restrictions to applied by the regulatory bodies to them. That's good to know. I thought it might not work with REX as I've recently downloaded essentials and even tho they've fixed a lot of issues (eg the baro pressure) it still updates really "violently" and it has been no good to use the wind smoothing option of FSUIPC. Guess it's a config problem of some sort then...
