  1. It's the PMDG folder in /AppData/Roaming/Microsoft/FSX I'm not an advocate for doing a reinstall every time something goes wrong but I specifically had corrupt panels, opened up a ticket with PMDG, and this is what they recommended. However, it wasn't until I did the reinstall with also removing the files from above that it fixed the issue. Since the panel issues here popped up after a FS2Crew upgrade, I don't know if the results would be the same...
  2. Jeff - when you say you reinstalled the NGX, did you remember to go into your AppData directory and remove the PMDG files from there? I had corrupt panels once and that was required in order to get the reinstall to work. And obviously need to run everything as Admin.
  3. So, just have to confirm - did you change the root directory to "c:/FSX/MicrosoftSimulator" or "c:\FSX\MicrosoftSimulator"
  4. Are you trying to load two different variants at the same time? That's caused me problems before....
  5. Instead of constantly bumping the thread try opening a ticket with PMDG.
  6. Is FSX installed in the Program Files path? On Win 7 that's a bad idea - I had problems with it, especially using add-on programs. Once I reinstalled in my root directory a majority of my crashes went away. Just a thought if you don't find any other definitive answers...
  7. I decided to get Opus to try it out because I had only been using RexE as an engine and a change had to be made because it just wasn't cutting it. It was a toss up between Opus and AS, and I'm very glad I went with Opus. Overcast actually means overcast - I set my NGX down at BWI when there were thunderstorms rolling in the other night, and sure enough, there were actually clouds in the sky when it was raining and lightening! No more full moon and stars in the sky with rain and thunder! The flights I've flown have had no stutters or jumps like Rex had when it loaded the weather data, and everything so far has been great. Very happy with this add-on.
  8. Personally, I fly the 800/900 more often than not, but recently due to a really awesome 600 BBJ livery made by Steve Stubbs I went back to the 600 for the first time in a long time. I quickly remembered how much fun the 600 can be - like Kevin said it is totally a pocket rocket and it's fun. The performance differences are, well, actually the performance differences of the 600/700 to 800/900, and the great thing about this PMDG product is that you will clearly notice them. It is well worth the very small investment to get this add-on, if even to just appreciate the differences in these variants.
  9. Jan - best bet is to open up a support case with PMDG. I've done it before and the response is great and this is something they are there to help with. Good luck!
  10. Have you tried the Speed INV button? It works the same as the Altitude one - just press it and it brings up your current speed, and then you can set it at what you need.
  11. Ok I read it but I don't get what your point is...? Doesn't number three make it pretty clear you need to see the runway? Sorry if I'm missing something there....
  12. You might also want to check if you have any equalizer settings setup on your system's default sound. I played around with mine for a while before I was able to get something I was comfortable with, and that overbearing sound you talk about was one of the things I was able to minimize. Just a thought. I also agree with pressing the "Q" sound button a few times. With Ezcam sometimes the sounds get distorted going from view to view, and pressing Q a few times usually does the trick.
  13. Here is a link to a study that was done in 2001 for hearing loss in relation to pilots. It took readings on flight decks using standalone sensors and a test dummy observer (Kemar). The article is somewhat lengthy and boring so search for "table 2" if you want to get to the results. Granted, this is for a 737-400 but I think it is still interesting to see what they found. The results show the db readings for ambient sound on the flight deck and db levels with the headset sound. The 734 and Airbus 320-111 were pretty similar at least. Not sure what later variants have shaken out to be. http://aeromedical.org/Articles/NIHL.html
  14. Have you opened a support ticket? If not, I highly recommend it - they are very responsive and helpful and it sounds like there isn't much more to do but have them help you out.....
  15. Hey Dirk - I would highly recommend trying this for uninstalling and reinstalling. My problem only got fixed when I deleted the folders that PMDG Support recommended (skip the parts about the 600/700 if you don't have the addon, obviously). Also, goes without saying that all of the installs should done as Admin. Hope this helps! 1. Uninstall the 600/700, then the 800/900 from Control Panel\Programs & Features. 2. Manually delete the NGX folders in FSX\SimObjects\Airplanes. 3. Manually delete the FSX\PMDG\PMDG 737 NGX folder. 4. Manually delete the NGX folders in C:\Users\(Your Windows Username)\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX\SimObjects - You may need to enable the Windows folder option "Show hidden files and folders" to see this location. 5. Reinstall the 800/900 base pack. 6. Reinstall the 600/700 addon.
  16. Hey guys, thanks for the responses. Ryan from PMDG got back to me and they had the fix - when you uninstall the program, you need to go in and delete out the PMDG folder in the /AppData/Roaming/Microsoft/FSX directory. I had reinstalled a couple times when troubleshooting but never got rid of the folder here. Once I did that and installed the base package everything came right up. So guess there was some corruption but this cleared it right up. As a side note I couldn't be happier with the Support here. They got back to me within a few hours of opening my support ticket, and responded right away to my follow up email. I posted the problem here as well after opening the ticket because I figured it would be a few days before I heard anything....how wrong I was. Great support to an awesome product!! Thanks again everyone.
  17. HI All - Hoping someone can help....I have searched Google and tried searching this forum for anything similar but haven't found anything, so I apologize in advance if this has been addressed already - I have had the PMDG 737 NGX for several months now and it has been working perfectly this whole time. When I tried a flight this morning, I ran into a major problem. Now, when I load a PMDG aircraft, it will not initialize at all. It loads the aircraft, but nothing happens. All of the gauges are blank, the gear handle is missing and the message that you normally see up top that it is initializing does not appear. I am setup to load into the LONG config, so this is not a cold-dark issue. I went ahead and completely uninstalled PMDG then reinstalled including the SP's. I also checked to make sure that the license service they talk about in the manual is running as well and it is, and I uninstalled any addons that are specific to the PMDG. I was just on this last night and made a full flight without any issues (ok, the landing was a little rough but not bad enough to lock me out of the cockpit!!) and I have made no updates to my computer since last night. I did open a ticket, but in the hopes that this might be an easy fix I thought I would post here. Any help you guys can provide would be hugely helpful.
