  1. Besides what has been stated above, I think you just have to watch out for any paid add-on (IXEG 737, for example). I think those have to be uninstalled first.
  2. does anyone use this with the IXEG 737? Would it add anything to that?
  3. Got it working last night. I was entering my computer's IP address that's setup statically in my router (192.168.x.x). That is supposed to work but was giving me errors. I tried the 127.0.0.1 address and it worked. Also pulled up the map on my networked laptop and could watch my plane's flight path while sitting downstairs. Pretty cool app.
  4. hmmm, I'm going to try it again this evening. Besides entering your computer's IP address and the data send port (49003) did you change any other ports or settings?
  5. Has anyone been able to get this map to work in XP11? (See link above). I keep getting an error that "more than one instance of XP is running" (when it is clearly not).
  6. As to the first point, I do tick the checkbox to generate overlays during batch tile generation. Admittedly, there have been a couple of times that I've queued up a large overnight batch and forgot to set overlay generation. So, that's my first problem. The second is that I've used multiple computers to generate tiles. Ultimately, all the tiles make their way to a centralized storage system, but some of those "other" computers didn't have the overlay source data so, I couldn't generate overlays. At this point, I've generated ZL17 orthos for the entire continental USA, Hawaii, the Caribbean islands and a chunk of Europe. I'd estimate that at least 60% has overlay data, but there is no way to easily tell what does and what doesn't. Also, I've discovered the "decal" setting and would like to add it to all tiles as well (there is another quick python script to just add decals). The Ortho4XP.exe program can certainly do all of this, but it takes a ridiculously long time for what is actually just a singular task. These python scripts get to the point and apparently work extremely fast. As you mention, running overlays when I want to may be an option (one I have not explored) but if I don't have the overlay data to begin with.... I'm not familiar with python and just need someone to enlighten me how to run a python script. Its syntax is completely new to me. Once I get that GUI open, I should be set.
  7. I've been filling hard drives with photo scenery using Ortho4XP...works great. But I want to go back and quickly add overlays to a large number of tiles. I have a python script to do just that specific task (which apparently runs a lot faster). Could someone help me get this going? I can't get the gui window to open. Here is the script: http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/files/file/37102-overlays-batch-builder-for-ortho4xp/ "Requirements notes: you need a fully working python environment with all the Ortho4XP dependencies installed. If you are just running the Ortho4XP executable, you may need to install these dependencies. Installation: Drop this script under the Ortho4XP folder Running the script: Run the python interpreter in the usual way: python Overlays_batch_builder_4_Ortho4XP.py"
  8. Is this only for use with the A320 or could it work with other aircraft (ie, the IXEG 737)?
  9. Yea, pretty sure Oscar (creator of the Ortho program) works for Western Digital or some other hard drive company.
  10. I also think the Ortho mesh is a lot more detailed. Mountains have sharp jagged peaks and the photo overlay enhances that appearance. One thing I always disliked in FSX/P3D were the mountains. Even with the highest resolution 3rd party mesh add-ons, mountains still had these rounded/sloped peaks. They looked like oversized hills with no definition.
  11. So, to get the boats, are you using the "VFR Landmarks" add-on? Or is it some different add-on?
  12. I have x-enviro, but recently I've been enjoying the default clouds. They look really nice now. What are all those white specs in the lake in the last picture?
  13. That's what I was thinking. Might have to break out the liquid nitrogen.
  14. This might be a confusing question, but follow me along here.... Let's take the example airport of KTEX (Telluride). The "default" XP11 runway looks very similar to the real life runway, which is pretty dramatically sloped, by flyable. If I make an ortho tile of the area that includes KTEX using Ortho4XP, by default, the program will make the runway completely flat. If I chose the option in Ortho4XP "do not flatten runway," the resulting tile will overlay the runway over the mountainous mesh. In other words, the runway takes on the shape of the surrounding mountain region and is impossible to even taxi on. (It really is crazy looking). So here is the question: is it possible to create an ortho tile but have the KTEX runway keep the slope from the default XP11 data?
  15. I wonder if a simple lua script could be written to bump the intensity of the stars/moon? Is there a dataref for it?
  16. If I understand you correctly, this just creates a simlink (or junction link) between C:\x-plane\custom scenery\<ortho tiles> and the storage drive on which the actual tiles are stored (in my case, D:\ortho4xp\tiles\<ortho tiles>). I'm at the point where I'm now using multiple non-system storage drives (D:\, E:\ etc.) The problem is that I'd like to open the Ortho4XP program and look at one map and see all the tiles on all my different hard drives. I'm not sure that it is possible. Right now I have a separate Ortho4XP "install" on each hard drive, and I just open up those individual maps to see what is on that hard drive. It works, but I was wondering if there was a more elegant solution.
  17. Is there any way to turn off the ATC Violation pop up screen? It usually pops up just seconds before touchdown and takes up the entire screen (which, as you can imagine, is incredibly annoying when your about to land). Sometimes the default ATC acts a bit crazy and I just want to come in and land on my designated runway. Having this goofy screen interrupt everything drives me nuts.
  18. I generally hate a bunch of "pinned" threads clogging up the front page of a forum...but this should be pinned. Awesome information! Looking forward to checking it all out.
  19. Seems just recently when I request a gate pushback in the IXEG 737 I get some very odd behavior. The straight-back direction is fine, but when the truck turns the nose wheel to point my jet either nose left or nose right, it starts shaking the plane violently. At times it literally flips my plane and crashes it on the ground. I'm not sure if this is just a bug with IXEG and the changing XP beta code, or if I have my controls improperly configured. It is almost like the nose wheel doesn't want to turn. Anyone else experience this?
  20. I previously had what I thought was all global scenery downloaded. Over last weekend, I decided to open the installer and just double check. I think I downloaded about 9 gigs of scenery, which was sort of a surprise. Looked like far northern latitudes. Maybe they are slowly adding content to the servers?
  21. You have to read the replies to some of the comments on the YouTube page. Someone from REX was replying to multiple people implying that they are working on an XP version.
  22. If I need to report a bug with XP, what is the proper method (a link would be appreciated)
  23. Just read on a facebook xp-11 group that a default Citation X will be added sometime after official release. Had a nice exterior pic added.
