  1. I have to say that this tweak looks particularly amazing in the west with mountains.
  2. I wonder how he would know this? In other words, where the data comes from? If you get a new orbx product, it comes with a triple or quad installer. Does the installer send data back to orbx regarding your machine?
  3. A permissions problem? Maybe run REX as admin.
  4. How does one go about comparing files such as what carlito777 did?
  5. Looking back at the "learning curve" that Lockheed went through for the past few years developing P3D into what it is today, it could take DTG some time to get where they ultimately want to go. By comparison, every time P3D had a major code overhaul, things get broken and then patched until they work. In essence, DTG wants to release a v1.0 product this year that does most everything that P3D v3.1 does right now (minus the 3rd party support). The 64 bit support is a great goal, but it is just that right now... a goal. I'm honestly not sure who will come out with a 64-bit version first.
  6. I've been on Win10 since it came out. Works great with P3D and all the various add-ons I've thrown at it.
  7. How is the head tracking with the Rift? You know how TrackIR can sometimes lose track/cut out if you move too far away from the camera sensor? Does the Rift has this issue or does it track head movement differently?
  8. I was wondering how many people fly with the failure settings on? And if so, do you use the P3D failure settings or those that come with a cockpit, like the PMDG 737-- where you can set random failures and service failures.
  9. I'm not in front of my system at the moment, but I didn't think that the academic version had "weapon systems." You seem to have that option in your picture. Isn't that just limited to the pro version?
  10. I've seen them, but never had a "problem" with them, such that they were the only cloud types during my flight. I'm more pleased that the "rotating cloud" issues seems to be gone in v3, but that is a different subject. As for "popcorn clouds," couldn't some users with this "problem" and some without this problem use historical weather data in ASN and fly from the same location/date/time, with similar settings, and take pictures and compare?
  11. I don't, but thanks for the link, interesting program that I didn't know about. Does it work with v3?
  12. I just bang on the keyboard until I get what I want
  13. I'd like to get my scenery mesh back in v3 but haven't seen any word on an update--and as far as I can tell, the current version won't install in v3.
  14. Two things though: fps always drops with video capture running. I'm sure fps would have been a good bit higher without it. I'm running v3 on a sub 4 ghz rig and it is much smoother. Also, I get the impression he is running other background programs to put the video together--particularly the side-by-side shots.
  15. I just set mine up last night and it works fine. Here is exactly what I did. (My "My Traffic 6" is installed on C:\My Traffic. Obviously, your paths may vary): #1 C:\ProgramData\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v3\simobjects.cfg Add this to the end: [Entry.10] //(put whatever number comes next. Probably 10) Title=MyTraffic Vehicles Path=C:\MyTraffic Professional\MyTraffic\Aircraft Required=True Active=True #2 Then go to: C:\Program Files (x86)\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v3\Scenery\World\scenery Rename trafficAircraft.bgl file to trafficAircraft.bgl.passive #3 Start the sim and go to the tabs: world : scenery library Then, select “add area” Browse to MyTraffic Professional in C: Add the path: C:\MyTraffic Professional\My Traffic Press enter. Move it down the list a few. Done #4 Make sure settings complexity is up to dense and aircrafts slider is set up
  16. in the settings (i think its display settings), do you have the text boxes enabled? You need the check box next to "top right text" or something to that effect (which is a bit ironic being that the fps counter is on the left). If you turn off all text boxes, Shift-z won't work.
  17. I'm running the new Prepar3d v3 with a fresh install of PMDG 737 NGX (just released with the v3 installer). In the virtual cockpit, I can't open the ATC window. However, using any of the "default" aircraft that come with P3D, I can open the ATC window (and at any airport / location). A few other people are reporting this in the P3D forum here. Wondering if anyone could help trouble shoot this. Thanks. -Michael Fenwick
  18. I just noticed this. I can open the ATC window fine with default aircraft at any airport. It will not open with PMDG aircraft.
  19. to me, it looks like the "rotating clouds" issue is gone.
  20. Avatar, huh? The real question is... can I start from my hotel room?
  21. I was just looking at that... I know some people were complaining about resolution in the development kit. From a google search: "the DK2, it's noticeably less sharp, with 1080p overall resolution (or 960 x 1080 per eye)." The consumer version will have 2160x1200 (1080x1200 per eye). Also, per my original post... do you think this will be easier on the GPU?
  22. I see that the consumer edition of the Oculus Rift VR headset is slated to come out in Q1 2016. Will the headset need a special driver or software to work properly with P3D? (I'm pretty sure I've seen videos of it working wth P3D already...). Also, will using the Rift be less taxing on the GPU, beign that it is only powering two small eyepieces rather than possibly multiple large monitors?
  23. I'd agree with this. The number of P3D developers that are proudly displayed on the mainpage and throughout P3D's website has clearly turned into a selling point-- not a mere coincidence.
