  1.     Same here. Since I started using FSUIPC for my yoke, joystick, and pedals, I've had no problems. Rod
  2. I think I got this info from the ORBX forum, which is a shorter version of the actual answer. The following is how I have my scenery library and it seems to work just fine. I have a lot of the ORBX scenery, along with UTX USA and Ultimate Alaska X, so below is exactly what I have. The below is a quote: "Your FTX Global entries (ORBX!OPENLC_EUROPE1 and ORBX!OPENLC_BASE) should be below your FTX EU ENG content. FTX Regions go above FTX Global, as per Rob Newman's list. So essentially, in terms of your FTX products it's (Top) FTX Airports FTX Regions FTX Global UTX (if you use it) Other scenery Default FSX scenery" If you have other addon scenery you may have to experiment a little by placing that addon scenery up or down on the list. I had an addon scenery that wouldn't show up until I put it at the top of the list. And, it didn't interfere with anything so it worked just fine there. There's a lot of good info on the ORBX forum dealing with FTX Global and compatibility questions, for example UTX with FTX Global. Hope this helps..... Rod
  3. I never used FSUIPC for my CH Yoke or Pedals with my FS9. I fly with FSX now and use the FSUIPC for the controls. Do you have the payware FSUIPC? If so, try it. You may get full throws then. However, don't use the Control Manager if you're using FSUIPC. Not sure if it'll work, just my recommendation. Rod
  4. My recommendation is, disable the Norway Mesh in the Scenery Library within FSX and start FSX again to see if that works. If that fixes the problem, you know it's the Norway Mesh is the problem. Also, in FTX Central you could use the "FTX Scenery Library Insertion Points" and make sure FTX is above Norway. Not being the expert, I'm just brain storming in trying to help you out. Another recommendation would go to the ORBX/FTX forum and ask. Sorry I can't be more help. Rod
  5. Ron... I really don't believe that should've happened. You should've had the ocean show up even having FTX Global active and Hybrid checked. I have not flown there though to see if I have that problem. Last week I flew out of Honolulu and I had land textures in the water. I went to the ORBX forum , explained what the problem was, and showed a couple of screen shots, and I had a response in less that 24 hours. For some reason I was missing 32 texture (bmp) files from the C:\.......\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Scenery\World\Texture directory. The bmp files were from 301bsu1.bmp through 360b2su1.bmp. There should be 180 (which I only had 148) of the files starting with the number 3. Like I stated, I have no idea why all of a sudden I was missing those 32 files. One of the developers/designers sent me a zipped file of all 180 files. I placed them into the ....\Texture directory, and everything was good to go. However, when I had the problem, I went into FTX Central, uncheck and checked boxes and it didn't make a difference until I had the 180 files from Orbx. So I possibly had a totally different problem as you do. This may be a long shot, but, I recommend you go to that directory and ensure you have the 180 bmp files as I stated. If you don't have the 180 files, let me know and send me a PM. I will send you the zip file that I received from Orbx. Rod
  6.     I totally disagree. The number of posts on "any" forum has nothing to do with the topic(s). I've been flying Sublogic/MS Flight Simulator since Sublogic's Flight Simulator II (early 1980s), and every version since. And, I can't count how many addons, like scenery, mesh, landclass, and aircraft addons I've had. FTX Global is the best I've seen and, have purchased. Just my opinion, as I think the topic of this thread is suggesting as it's a question waiting for an opinion. Sorry I just joined this forum not too long ago so I don't have "50" or more posts. I usually post when I'm trying to help (my opinion or experience), or receive help. So, the question is, "FTX Global, is it worth it?" And again, my answer is YES!! So, what do you think, is it worth it? Rod.......with less than 50 posts.
  7. What other scenery or landclass addons do you have, for example UTX? Rod
  8. Tom, I agree with KingGhidorah, however, I had the same problem on my old WIN7 machine. Then I turned off the Sleep mode not allowing my computer, nor monitor, to sleep. I never had a problem after that. Then, I got my WIN8 computer, immediately shut off the sleep mode. I did what KingGhidorah stated, plus a lot more and my CH Yoke and pedals would still disconnect...sometimes in mid flight. I did what King stated to every USB Controller, and, I did it to every Human Interface Devices USB Device entries. Connect your yoke and pedals to the USB port first, before you go into the properties. And, always plug them into the same USB port after that. With that said, that still didn't fix my problem of my yoke and pedals disconnecting. I finally configured them in the FSUIPC (payware version), and haven't had a disconnect yet, for almost three months. Hope you get it figured out. Rod
  9.     Have you been on the ORBX forum as there has been a lot of discussion about the lighting problems? Here is one possible fix, which I'm not sure will fix your lighting problem or not, but, no harm in trying. Navigate to FSX Scenery Global Scenery directory: Example .... C:\FSX\Scenery\Global\scenery, then, rename the file 3D_Light_NEW_DDN_1_5.BGL to 3D_Light_NEW_DDN_1_5.BGL.BAK. Here's a link to a blog, from Steve ???? that you can click on the link "DX10 fixes download from AVSIM library". http://stevesfsxanalysis.wordpress.com/ and see if that makes any difference. I haven't applied his fixes yet, so I'm not sure if it will help. I don't have the same light problem as you, I have the problem of car lights being black squares at some, not all, airports. I don't have the black squares for street lights. I just started messing around flying in DX10 mode so I don't have very much experience with this. Hope you get it working. Rod
  10. Yeah....the 27" screen is very nice for FS, other simulator pgms, graphical and word processing pgms. I'm using EZDOK w/FSX so I didn't enable WideViewAspect in the cfg file. I read you shouldn't do it, so I didn't. Rod
  11. I purchased the HP 2711x monitor (1920 x 1080) and it's clarity is very nice. Don't know what the pixels @ inch are. Just my input from my experience. Rod
  12. I was on the ORBX forum, and the same question was asked a while back (February) if DX10 will be compatible with FTX Global. The CEO responded with the following response. "Yes it will, as long as you apply some of the recent DX10 fixes discovered on various forums. It will present exactly the same DX10 compatibility as default FSX does." I don't fly in the DX10 mode so I really can't say what happens, however, it looks fantastic in FSX as I'm using it now. Recommend going to the ORBX forum and read up the compatibilities to make sure you would be satisfied with the product. I am very satisfied. Of course, I'm just one out of a bazillion simmers..ha. What ever a bazillion is. Happy Flyin' Rod
  13.     Glad to hear you got you computer back. Are you able to take the pics? If so, how did you do it? Just in case it happens to us. It's strange you aren't able to use the "V" key to take pics. I also have WIN8 and have had no problems taking pics in either windowed or full screen mode. You mentioned you don't have the Paint program in your Win8? That's also strange...I have it. Hope you get things figured out. Rod
  14. I had WIN7 for a long time, and think it's a fantastic OS. However, I ordered the new computer and it came with WIN8 (if I would've known if I could order it with WIN7, I would've.), and as I mentioned before I like it. Maybe I'm one of the lucky ones and haven't had any major problems to dislike it. Also, I uninstalled FSX from the directory I had created before (C:\FSX), reinstalled FSX in the default directory (Program Files X86) on 14 July, along with FSC9, Active Sky 2012, EZDOK, TrackIR 5, and everything is working just fine. I run FSX as administrator. Rod
  15. I've installed 326.19 BETA, and have no problems...so far. Also, I haven't noticed any difference in FSX or other simulators. Rod
  16. Russ, I'm not sure what to say to help, but, I had installed FSX on my new computer, with WIN8, then after a couple of months I decided to uninstall FSX and do a fresh install. Well, I couldn't uninstall it, and it gave me an error similar to what your error was (something to do with the windows installer). I tried and tried. What I ended up doing was "Restore to Factory Default". Same problem as you had. I restored to factory default once more, and then FSX installed with no problems. Something strange about WIN8 I guess. However, I like WIN8 so far, and I've had my new computer since Jan of this year. Hope you get figured out. Rod
  17. I've had TrackIR 5 for about a month, and I've got to say, it's fantastic. I don't fly without it now. I've had EZDOK for quite some time and they work great together, however, using TrackIR I don't need to use EZDOK features as much. Sometimes I'll hit a button assigned with EZDOK because I'm too lazy to move my head down and toward the screen to see the switches..ha. The only time I use the TrackClip Pro is when I'm flying online using my headphones for teamspeak. I use my TrackClip attached on my hat when flying offline, which is most of the time. Of course I could use the TrackClip on the hat, and place my headset over the hat. I could've saved a few dollars if I would've known that. You just have to play around with the sensitivity (head movement) levels until you are satisfied. I use the "smooth" profile settings, but I moved two "True Head Angle" buttons(or whatever they're called) closer to the center so I don't have to move my head too much to see 90 degrees or more to the left or right. Also, I unchecked the "Trueview" box (because either the TrackIR manual or EZDOK's manual said so when using EZDOK and TrackIR together). Rod
  18. I agree with NCooper about installing your FSX in a separate directory other than Program Files(x86), running FSX as Administrator, and using UIAutomationCore.dll. Sorry I didn't mention that. Just an update from my previous post, I received and installed TrackIR 5, and with everything running as mentioned above, I have no problems. Rod
  19. SimPilot7227 I disabled the controllers and had the same problem w/FSUIPC as you. So, I left the controllers enabled, when into the Control menu, in FSX, deleted all the axes and button assignments, went back into FSUIPC, configured them, and it worked just fine. Prior to doing this, I also changed the "JoystickTimeout=xx" to different settings, however, my controllers were still disconnecting. Once I configured them in FSUIPC I have not had any problems. Hope you get it figured out. Rod
  20. I have WIN 8 (came with my new computer) and like it very much so far. I've had it since January this year. Yes, I had the joystick (yoke and pedals) problem, however, FSUIPC fixed that. I also have EZdok and have had NO issues at all. I have no tweaks going and FSX has been very smooth. I guess it depends on your entire system. I use the following anytime I fly with no issues. EZdok, Active Sky 2012, FS Commander, and sometimes Plan-G, FSINN, TeamSpeak 3, and then I'll have the internet explorer open to file flight plans with my online flying club. I should be receiving TrackIR 5 tomorrow, so I'll see how that works also. Overall....I like it. Just my opinion and experience with my WIN8 system. Rod
  21. I agree. It lost me, so I just experimented and got 'em configured. I need to write my own instructions soon as I'm going to forget what I did...ha. Rod
  22. Greg, I left my controls enabled in FSX. All I did was delete all axes and button controls in the "settings/controls" menu within FSX, and not having any problems. Have you tried that? Rod
