  1. I copied this info from the pdf file "FTX Definitive Guide", dated February 2014, and written by the ORBX Team. Recommend you download it and check it out. Great info. http://www.orbxsystems.com/forum/topic/74345-the-definitive-guide-to-ftx-products-the-go-to-source-of-ftx-information/ Install Order: FTX Products all contain special coding and files to make sure they are always where they need to be in your Flight simulator scenery list. It does not matter what order you install the FTX products (other than the latest libraries being installed last) as they will always self -order themselves. However, if you prefer a solid method of installing, we would suggest the following: FTX Global Base FTX Global Vector FTX Global Open LC (When Available) Terrain Mesh FTX Full Regions FTX Airports Definitely do as Alenia1 stated above about the libraries and reading the installation instructions. Then later, when you add another Orbx Scenery addon, reinstall the Object Libraries file again. I installed FS Global 2010, but don't remember where in the list I installed it. Probably after I installed Vector as the list shows. And yesterday, I just reinstalled UTX USA after all of my Orbx sceneries, and have no problems. Safe Flyin' Rod
  2. Noel, Not sure what the problem is, but, have to ask. Did you re-install the latest Object Libraries after installing Vector? I'm not sure if this needs to be done, but I've learned, from my experience and others, that every time you install an Orbx scenery, or update, reinstall the libraries. That usually fixes the icon situations in FTX Central. When I downloaded Vector 1.1 from the FlightSim Store, it downloaded in less than 30 minutes. I used the first Global on the list, and used FlashGet as the download manager. Safe Flyin' Rod
  3. I have no problems like some of you have. KSEA and KSFO are very nice. I have not found any elevation problems. I have no other scenery addons except for Orbx. Hope you all get it figured out. Safe Flyin' Rod
  4. I don't know what happened, as I must've downloaded when no one else was, because I was able to finish downloading in less than 30 minutes. I downloaded from the first global on the list. I also used FlashGet. It installed with no problems. Safe Flyin' Rod
  5. Yeah..Baltic15.BGL is the only file in the directory. I don't know what scenery that .bgl file is for. The only scenery I had installed at the time I installed FTX Global was other Orbx/FTX scenery. I have no Aerosoft scenery, or any other scenery installed. Hope it works out for you. Rod
  6. Bruceb, Yep...I just checked my directories and I have a scenery folder in my OLC_EU1 folder. And, there is the Baltic15.bgl file in that folder. What if you create the scenery folder and see what happens? Hope you get it figured out. Rod
  7. I agree with you. I use to setup my controllers within FSX, but that's when I had Windows XP, VISTA, and/or WIN 7. Worked just fine for my needs. When I purchased my WIN 8 system, I continued to get controller disconnects. I tried everything I could think of, along with the help of a plethora of others on the forum, to solve the problems. No luck. So, I decided to configure my controls with FSUIPC. I've not had one disconnect since doing that. Next step is to learn to use FSUIPC in configuring the controls for different a/c. Safe Flyin' Rod
  8. Did you try to re install the Obj Libraries? That has always fixed my FTX Central issues. Rod
  9. Since I've had my Win 8 system, a year now, I've had that DLL file in my FSX directory and have had no problems. Rod
  10. I don't have WIN 8.1 Pro, I have WIN 8. I never had your problem, however, when I first received my computer, I ensured I had installed FSX in a different directory than the default. I then put UIAutomaticCore.dll file in the main FSX directory. I also run FSX as administrator...just to be sure. Have you done any of what I did? Rod
  11. Just a quick question. After installing the scenery, did you reinstall the latest object libraries? That may or may not fix the problem. I don't have that scenery so I'm just taking a wild guess. Safe Flyin' Rod
  12. Michael, The below info I received somewhere on the Orbx website a while back. I have mine setup as shown. The only thing I don't have installed now are the UTX prgms. I didn't install my UTX programs as I was waiting on purchasing Vector and finding out the reviews on UTX and Vector compatibility. What I've read so far is that they work together with a little tweaking here and there, so, I'm thinking of reinstalling. But, I also have FS Global 2010 installed. "Your FTX Global entries (ORBX!OPENLC_EUROPE1 and ORBX!OPENLC_BASE) should be below your FTX EU ENG content. FTX Regions go above FTX Global, as per Rob Newman's list. So essentially, in terms of your FTX products it's (Top) FTX Airports FTX Regions FTX Global UTX (if you use it) Other scenery Default FSX scenery" If you have other addon scenery you may have to experiment a little by placing that addon scenery up or down on the list. I had an addon scenery that wouldn't show up until I put it at the top of the list. And, it didn't interfere with anything so it worked just fine there. Hope this helped.....Rod
  13. Damien, Yes it does. According to the manual, Vector uses some textures from Global. Here is a quote from the Vector Manual: Do I Need FTX Global BASE? Quick answer: Yes! FTX Global VECTOR is specifically designed for FTX Global BASE, and calls many textures only found in that product. Attempting to use Vector with default textures or other third party texture products is not supported and will lead to unpredictable results. Safe Flyin' Rod
  14. During my short time of flying, I rented three different C172s, Copiloted a C210 (Test flight after maintenance was conducted....flew it and conducted one touch-n-go), Copiloted a King Air (took if off and flew it to 12,000 ft, activated autopilot, then drank my coffee...not much in flying that one, except keep the wings level, as it seemed to fly it self..ha). Rod
  15. I think I saw a post on the Orbx forum from the dev, and he is aware of the problem and will be fixed in the upgrade. If you uncheck your vector in the scenery library, it may go away. I know when I fly around Fort Peck, MT, and I have Vector activated, the Fort Peck Lake is not there. When I uncheck the Vector in the scenery library, the lake is there. I haven't flown in the SF area, so I'm not sure what it would do. I think I'll take a flight there right now. Rod Same thing....I flew at KSFO, with Vector active, and had double bridges. Disabled Vector, and had single bridges.
  16. The only sale I knew about for this month was if you had purchased FTX Global, I think by 31 Dec, you would get a 10% discount for FTX Vector. I might be wrong though. Rod
  17. I sent you a PM. If you didn't get it, PM me back. I'll assist anyway I can. Rod
  18. I forgot....oh...wait....it's coming to me...there it is....58. Been simming since sublogic flight sim in the '80s..maybe '83 or '84. Happy Birthday Joel! Safe Flyin'.... Rod
  19. Thanks Huskerwr38. Might have to check (purchase) out that airport. Thanks again.... Rod
  20. Nice pics. I'm with Tom and the rest, what scenery is it? Safe Flyin' Rod
  21. Totally agree.....that's why I stated above to the AVSIM Staff that this topic needs to go away. Rod
  22. Mark, I'm trying to understand what your point or goal is in posting this. Is the company a joke, or is it one person? So, what you're stating is that everyone that works in that company is a joke. Come on. Assuming that you're chiming in on the "Vector" discussion, you're also saying that Pilot's is a joke, as Pilot's and Orbx is working together to make this product for the FS community. I may sound like an Orbx supporter, well, I am, along with a lot of other companys, as I really enjoy their scenery add ons. I buy their products, or not buy their products, because of the product, not a person. And, I'm a supporter to a lot of other company's that are or have developed FS software. And, they have their moments in rude comments back to their customers. I'm not condoning JV for what he said, I'm just asking you to explain yourself more, instead of getting on a forum and "bashing" a company(s) for what one [CEO] stated. AVSIM Staff, I think this thread should go away as it started as verbal abuse and as an accusation. Rod
