  1. I've had Win 8 for a year and a half, and the only problem I had was my CH Yoke and Pedals would disconnect. I configured them with FSUIPC and have had no disconnects since. EZDOK, TrackIR, FSX, P3Dv2.3, ASN, just to mention a few, have been working with no problems. Rod
  2. Uncle_adolph is correct about not having the compatible version of the scenery for your version of P3D, however, all of the Orbx northwest scenery is compatible with P3Dv2... You'll need to download the newest sceneries again from FlightSim Store. Example, for FTX Global: you need v1.10 to install into P3Dv2.2 or v2.3, then, install update 1.20 Go to the Orbx forum, at this link, for all Orbx scenery compatible with P3D v2.2/2.3..... http://www.orbxsystems.com/forum/topic/68566-master-list-of-all-p3d2-ready-orbx-products/ I checked that link with all versions I have, and had to go to FlightSim Store and re-download all my scenery that was compatible with P3Dv2..., and all installed with no flaws. Hope you get it figured out. Rod
  3. Oops, I did forget to mention I was also using FS Global 2010 FTX. Have you searched Orbx forum for any compatibility issues that others may be having? Rod
  4. DetCord, I'm running only FTX Global, Vector, and EU OpenLC and I'm not having any issues with Brussels National (EBBR). Also, I checked my Vector Configuration Tool, and EBBR is still enabled. I went into FTX Central, used FTX Global Hybrid On, then Hybrid Off, and also checked Europe, just to see if it gave me the same issue. I found no issues in any of the settings for EBBR. On the other hand, when I checked Vagar (EKVG), I have the same issue as you, except my water that's falling off the cliff looks like a water fall, which yours' does not. I did all the checks within FTX Central and I also disabled and re-enabled EKVG in the Vector Configuration Tool and had the same results. I don't know what to say about Brussels as it's fine on my system. But Vagar, there is a problem somewhere. Safe Flyin' Rod
  5. Rob....no. You should be able to access all control panels within FTX Central. Open FTX Central and ensure you have the control panels for each airport you installed. Then you can delete the control panels off of your desktop if you want. Once you set up the scenery options within that certain control panel, your scenery for that airport will always be that way until you change something in that control panel later. Rod
  6. Just as Mike stated, that is correct. And, I've done the same as Mike, installing new airports or regions later, just re-install the current libraries, and you're good to go. Safe Flyin Rod
  7. I've never used this process before, as once I install any Orbx scenery/add ons, I don't want or need to uninstall. But, this is what I found on the Orbx forum. I'll use PNW as an example FIRST set FTXCentral to [Default] 1 - Browse to FSX\ORBX\FTX_NA - Delete the 4 x PNW titled folders: FTX_NA_PNW05_SCENERY FTX_NA_PNW06_CVX FTX_NA_PNW07_MESH FTX_NA_PNW08_CUSTOM 2 - Browse to FSX\ORBX\Scripts - Delete scenerylib_NA_PNW - Run FTXconfigurator.exe (silent operation, it removes the scenery library entries) 3 - Browse to FSX\Scenery\World\Scenery - Delete all the "PNW" titled files Use the same guide to delete any American FTX regions To uninstall a FTX airport, I'll use YSCH as an example : FIRST set FTXCentral to [Default] - Browse to FSX\ORBX\FTX_AU (for American airports browse to FSX\ORBX\FTX_NA instead) - Delete the FTXAA_YSCH folder - Browse to FSX\ORBX\Scripts - Delete orbx_cpl_ysch and scenerylib_AU_YSCH - Run FTXconfigrator.exe (silent operation, it removes the scenery library entries) Use the same guide to delete any payware FTX airport
  8. Bruce...that's correct. The Hybrid Mode box only shows up for when Global is checked. Rod
  9. I have to ask the same question as dgraham, however, I'm assuming your FSX is crashing, even though the title of your post is Windows 8 keeps crashing. If it is FSX, the only thing I can think of right away is, do you have the UIAutomationCore.dll file in the main FSX directory? My FSX would crash if I didn't have that dll file in my main FSX directory. I have Windows 8 on my system. Hope someone else chimes in to assist. Rod
  10. Addicted.... Here is my honest two cents worth: 1. FTX Global replaces the default "TEXTURES" only. Since they replace the textures, I'm positive that it is compatible to all add on "airport" scenery. 2. Yes. 3. No....as FTX Global only replaces the FSX default textures, the regions have a lot more added to them for realism. That's why if you're going to fly only in a certain region, within FTX Central you switch from "Global" to that region. However, even if you leave FTX Central set on "Global", with the "Hybrid Mode" checked, you still get most of the realism flying in the regions. 4. Speaking for myself, no. 5. No. As stated before, FTX Global replaces the FSX default textures only. 6. I don't know. I have used both at the same time with no issues. 7. Speaking for myself, no. No "hit" at all. 8. Again, speaking for myself, no. 9. I'm not sure. I've heard there are some addons that are not compatible....I think GEX is one of them. Best thing to do is go to the ORBX Compatibility Forum and search around.. http://www.orbxsystems.com/forum/forum/80-ftx-compatibility-forum/ 10. Yes, they address them. My experience is that their support is very good. 11. No, I don't think there is an uninstaller. I never was concerned about having one, because I knew that FTX Global replaced the FSX default textures only. When you install FTX Global, the install program will ask if you want to backup your original textures. So, if you ever want to uninstall FTX Global, then you delete the FTX Global textures, and replace with the FSX default backup textures you saved during install. But, in my opinion, you will not want to revert back to FSX default. 12. FTX Global is the best thing (maybe the only thing) out there that replaces the FSX default textures. When the Open LC packs are finished, and available, then the complete package will include FTX Global, Vector, and the Open LC packs. Right now there are no OpenLC packs available, as they are in the last stages of completing Open LC EU. They do have the Iceland Demo for download for those that would like to see what the complete package looks like. However, keep in mind, the Iceland Demo was created a few months ago, and Orbx is using their experiences to make the other OpenLc packs better. That's why Open LC EU is running behind schedule. I use FS Global 2010 for the terrain enhancement. So, with FS Global 2010, FTX Global, FTX Vector, and then the Open LC packages, I will have a complete new FSX version. If you haven't already, I suggest going to the Orbx website and looking through the different threads/posts. Here is a good one... http://www.orbxsystems.com/forum/topic/61929-ftx-global-what-is-it-all-about/ Safe Flyin'...... Rod
  11. What I understand is, if you're going to use the AS2012 textures, start AS2012, select and install the textures, exit from AS2012, and those textures will be set everytime you fire up ASN and FSX. I'm sure that is what I had done a while back. I'm now using REX4 Direct textures, and I installed those textures the same. I hope I'm correct, as I'm no expert on this subject, however, I'm sure I saw those instructions on some forum. Rod I just re-read your question about using weather influenced textures. To be honest, I really don't know, as I've always used the set of textures I had installed from when I setup AS2012, then ran ASN. I guess I never used the Wx influenced textures option. Sorry about that....Rod
  12. Jack.... I purchased my new computer in Jan 2013, with WIN 8. The only problem I had was the CH yoke and pedals would disconnect every once in a while. Once I configured them with FSUIPC, I haven't had the problem since. I also had to put the UiAutomationCore.dll file in the FSX directory or FSX would crash as soon as I would access the toolbar menus. I fly with a lot of payware aircraft including the PMDG 737. I haven't had any issues with panel problems on any aircraft. I would also run other programs, at the same time, such as Active Sky Next, TrackIR, FSINN, Flight Sim Commander, Plan-G, and would be on the internet, with no issues. I now network another computer with Active sky Next, FSC, Plan-G, and accessing the internet. So now, the only programs I use on the main computer with FSX is TrackIR. Rod
  13. idoen, Did you just install new Orbx scenery? The reason I ask is if you did, you should always re-install the latest Orbx Libraries. I went to the Orbx forum and found a post that had your same error. The answer was to re-install the latest Orbx libraries:http://www.fullterrain.com/support.html#orbxlibs But the OP did not answer back as if it worked or not. There were other posts but they had the error "Duplicate Landclass index 14 Aborting FTXCentral", and once they installed the latest libraries, I guess it was resolved. Hope it works for you. Rod
  14. Phoenixfly.....What Orbx scenery addons do you have installed? My guess is, if you don't have any airport scenery installed, that has a control panel option, you will not have any control panels show up in FTX Central. Right now I have FTX Global, Vector, and the following regions: NRM, PNW, CRM, and England installed. There are no control panels for me either. However, once I install some airports, like, KSFF, KJAX, or other airports that have options, my control panels show up within FTX Central. I hope I'm right for telling you this as I'm no expert. Hope you get it figured out. Rod
  15. Kermit..... I'm assuming you would like to know because you're thinking of purchasing, or, upgrading to Win 8. I've had Win 8 over a year now, and the only problem I had at first, was my yoke/joystick and rudder pedals (CH Products) disconnected after a few minutes. But, after I configured them in FSUIPC, have never had a disconnect. I'm running the following: FSX/ACC FSUIPC FSINN/FSCopilot Active Sky Next FS Commander 9.5 StevesDX10SceneryFixer TrackIR 5 Pro ORBX Scenery.....Global, Vector, different regions and a few of airports FS Global 2010 UTX USA UTX Alaska RealAir Duke B60 A lot of Carenado A/C A2A 172 Cera-Sim UH60 Dodo 206 Alabeo Cessna 195 and the R66 Instant Scenery 3 Instant Object Studio ADE SBuilderX And a few others I haven't re-installed, but have had them installed at one time. I have had no problems with anything...Knock on wood. Rod
  16. I'm with you, and, I've mentioned this quite a few posts ago. Over a year now with FSUIPC, and not one disconnect. Also, running Win 8. Rod
  17. I've had windows 8 over a year now and will stick with it, meaning, I'm not upgrading to 8.1 until the FSX issue(s) are fixed, as I continue to notice pilots having issues on this forum. But, I had yoke/joystick and pedal disconnects with WIN8 until I started using the payware version of FSUIPC. Since then, I've never had a disconnect. I had purchased FSAssist but have not used it, yet, since FSUIPC is working. Also, I've heard for WIN8 and 8.1 users not to place the UiAutomationCore.dll in the FSX directory. Well, I always have and have had no problems. Matter of a fact, if I don't have it, FSX will crash as soon as I access the top menu bar. And, as for DX10, using Steve's DX10SceneryFixer, all is well there too. Maybe I'm just a lucky one. I hope all of you that are having issues get them sorted out soon. Safe Flyin' Rod
  18. Hi Bruceb....just throwing in my two cents, as I'm definitely not an expert. Did you install the latest Orbx Libraries (dated 140405)after you installed FTXGlobal? I think that may give you the Hybrid and Vector Road Lights box options. Hope you get it figured out. Rod
  19. Retired in '04 (after almost 30 years). Received my PPL in Oct '04...Life is Good. Then got bored, worked for 3 1/2 yrs for a youth academy.....was offered a teaching job at Gonzaga University and taught there for two years. Finally retired "again" in '11.....and loving it. FSX everyday..... if I want, I'll go outside and look at the birds....if I don't want to, I get back on FSX...ha. Seriously though, retirement is good as long as you have something to do (hobby) and stay active. I fly r/c airplanes every chance I get, do a little wood working, and do what the little wife wants to do, as she's followed me around for approximately 40 years. Sometimes I feel like going back to work. Just for something to do and to be productive for others. Rod
  20. I don't know the answer to your question, but there may be someone at the Orbx forum that asked that question before. Recommend you visit their website. But, someone may jump on here and tell you how. Rod
  21. Just download one. They are on different download links, that's why you see three. Since it's 3 GB, I recommend using a download manager. Rod
  22. Go to the ORBX Support Forum and suggest it to them. Not too many folks from the ORBX Team come to this forum, and if they do, they don't come to often, as they're busy on their forum answering questions and fixing/developing software. Rod
  23. Noel......I just went KMRY, and it's not on a big plateau on my system. I tried to upload a picture for you, but am unable to. I have FS Global 2010, FTX Global, Vector, and NCAL, and UTX USA all active. Not sure what to tell you. You've probably done this already, but, ensure your scenery libraries are ordered properly. For example, my UTX libraries are directly below all the ORBX!OPENLC_...... files. And, I had to move my UTX USA files down there as when I reinstalled UTX (last night), they automatically went to the top of the list. Hope you get it figured out.. Safe Flyin' Rod Oops....just realized when I checked I had FTX Central in Global and Hybrid checked. I'll put FTX Central in North America and check it again. May be a while before I can check it though. Got some "honey do" things to do around the house.....Rod I just checked with FTX Central set with North America, and it looked the same. AOK on my system. Again, hope you get it figured out....Rod
