<PAUSED><FROZEN> At start-up after 10.50 Update
Thanks rdb - Did that and it makes the toggle blink but, it won't turn the <Frozen> off. Seems like there is something preventing it from working. Starting to think it's one of my add-ons. Jimmy RFR - I think you're right, something is causing a continuous pause. Reviewed my key mappings and can't find the problem. How do you delete the preferences?

<PAUSED><FROZEN> At start-up after 10.50 Update
Just updated to 10.50 and now whenever I load a flight it starts on the tarmac as usual but I have "<PAUSED>' and "<FROZEN>" toggles in middle of screen. I tried to use the "P" key to un-pause but that did nothing. I don't even know how to attempt to fix the <FROZEN> issue. Tried ignoring and the system is clearly affected by the two issues. Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone know how to fix?

Approaching LHR X-Plane style
Very Nice! Did you screen shoot while flying or during replay? Asking because that cockpit photo is great but, right in the mix of landing. If so, you're good my friend (or, maybe I just suck?!?!)...

Out of NYC early morning - gotta love X-Plane
A330 out of 22R KJFK over NY Bay this morning en route to KLAX (Verrazano Bridge, Brooklyn and Downtown Manhattan). Other than the Flatlands of Brooklyn (which is a real neighborhood) this departure scenery is very realistic! Wing view. Sorry about stats in the upper left - still testing my FPS...

Michigan, following I-94 VFR from Detroit to Chicago....
That's just awesome! Beautiful shots and great looking Chicago. Air show going on here in Chitown this weekend and the weather has not played nice. We all should have jumped online and watched your flight instead... Cheers

Question for Real World Pilots: Flaps at High Altitute
Set-up: Flying the JRollon CRJ-200 in X-Plane 10.45 from KORD to KBUF with SkyMaxx. Weather was overcast with cloud ceiling at 13000ft but no heavy winds or turbulence. Issue: Cruising at 31,000ft I began my decent into KBUF about 90 miles out. At about 28,000ft I inadvertently pressed the wrong button on my joystick - TWICE. This caused the flaps to engage at about 420kt. I immediately realized my mistake and attempted to retract the flaps but it was too late and the plane began an uncontrolled drive that I was completely unable to recover from crashing to the ground within 45 seconds! Question: If this happened in real life would the aircraft really respond in that way? Of course, I wouldn't be surprised if the flaps completely broke off at that speed but would that cause an unrecoverable dive/free fall? Other than my curiousness about all things aviation, I am also wondering if X-Plane exaggerated the situation? I once ran into extremely heavy turbulence flying over Florida in XP. I was indeed able to recover but I couldn't help but wonder was XP exaggerating the turbulent affect on the aircraft? Only questioned because I had never run into that type turbulence in years with FSX and P3D. Likewise, I'd never lost control of a plan like that in FSX or P3D either. Just wondering if I need to somehow adjust my realism settings differently or, are these events, and outcomes, completed plausible? Any insight would be great. BTW: *Yes, I made an absolute "Bone Head" mistake! As an armchair sim pilot, nobody was hurt other than my fragile ego - so you can answer sans the Bone Head Back Slaps!

Soon to be X-Plane Newbie!
Lol! It sure feels that way! I kept both P3D and X-Plane for about two weeks and decided "screw it" and have been 100% X-Plane since. I miss somethings about P3D and FSX but, mostly it's the ORBX scenery, Aerosoft and PMDG add-ons I enjoyed not the actual platforms. After close to 20 years of FSX then periods of dabbling in P3D, X-Plane seemed to be a natural progression for me. I guess it is for others as well... I think what X-Plane is lacking in can only be resolved by more people converting to the platform. That will get the attention of developers. They will then go where the potential revenue resides, naturally...

Soon to be X-Plane Newbie!
Just Do It! And, don't look back - you won't be disappointed. I'd bet most of the X-Planers out there followed the same path you did spending hundreds (and even thousands) along the way. But, like you, have decided to stop contributing to money pit known as FSX. Prepar3D is not as bad but, how many people move over because it's compatibility with FSX? Settling in X-Planeville is a smart choice given the other options. Not a perfect community but a helpful and extremely giving one - you won't believe how many users share their developed add-ons for free (donate when you can). Some of these complimentary add-ons are better than stuff you paid top $$$ in FSX and P3D (check out Mister X's KBOS). Indeed, there is a learning curve but it's short and before you know it you'll be messing around in WED customizing your own FS world! AND - 10.50 hasn't even been released yet! I don't know how you can go wrong with XP

How to adjust the sounds?
Just converted to Prepar3D v3 and I have to kick myself for not doing it sooner! Has/will cost me some $$$ but well worth it. Nonetheless, the only real problem I'm having in Prepar3D is the sound(s). The noise from other planes on the tarmac AND in the air is so loud that becomes difficult to hear the ATC. I tried to adjust the "sound" settings in the Settings menu but they control every sound other than the issue I'm having. No issues with cockpit/interior sounds and ATC volume is fine. By process of elimination I thought the environmental slider would reduce external sound affects but it doesn't affect this issue. Added Traffic 360 and starting to think that has something to to with it. If so, I'm not sure how to adjust volume there - is there a way? Again, it's just the external jet engine sound that is distracting. Only happens at the gate (as other planes fire their engines) and on the runways as planes take off and land. Today, while flying into New York City area there was a military helo far enough away that I didn't get a proximity warning but I could hear the chopper engines as we passed as fit i were on it... Strange... Has anyone heard of this problem? Is there a fix?

Advice upgrading SSD for FSX:SE
Good point, I wasn't aware that could be done! Even better... Thanks

Advice upgrading SSD for FSX:SE
Thanks for the insight! Unfortunately, I'm not sure there are additional cable to install new drive without having to remove the old. Hopefully there is (on vacation not home to open the cpu). If so, I will follow you advice! Yeah, haven't spent as much on vacation as planned, hence the new SSD plan. However, 1TB SSD is a bit over the budget even still. Maybe I can skip a few rum punches and make it happen. We'll see?!?! Thanks

Advice upgrading SSD for FSX:SE
I need to upgrade my SSD drive as my add-ons are quickly out growing the 120 GB I'm looking to go with 500 GB drive (or close to) but have a question about transferring data; I plan to transfer the contents of my existing SSD to a folder on my Desktop HD. Then I will install the new, larger SSD ensuring the replacement takes on the same drive name as the previous. Then I will transfer the folder back to the new drive. Will this work? I'm thinking FSX won't have any problems recognizing the data on the new drive as long as the drive name stays the same? Or, is there something or some step I'm missing that will complicate the change? Any advice would be appreciated.

Flight School Unlocked
I think it looks pretty good! With no scenery adds it looks smoother than my beast of a computer with medium FSX settings. Looking forward to their other product later this year!

If there is ONE custom airport scenery that would make me buy a sim to run it in...

Cost to convert to Prepar3d - An important consideration
I think this is sound advice! I'm a long time FSX guy and have the same dilemma with the want to move on to Prepar3D but the process and the $$$ hit is causing me to hesitate. Instead, I'm going to purchase another SD (prices keep dropping) for Prepar3D and slowly purchase add-ons that are dual compatible. Obviously, not all will be but by having both sims I can still play FSX when I want to dig deep into the hangar. In the end, it seems pretty smart to move over to Prepar as FSX is an orphan at this point. Indeed, lots of people will feed him but he still doesn't have a home :Shame On You: Things aren't going to turn out well for him...

Ezdok - Terrible view system
No EZDok expertise here but if you have FSUIPC installed, I would check the setting there as my previous problem (which seemed to come out of nowhere) was due to a change in FSUIPC setting. If not FSUIPC (probably isn't), have you cleared the button layout in your simulator to ensure there aren't any conflicts? Finally, you may want to do a quick Google search on the problem - there will surely be a bunch listings that may give you an idea on how to resolve. Trust, there is a resolution out there... Good luck.

Ezdok - Terrible view system
Couldn't agree more! FS without EZdok is almost unplayable for me as I found out recently when FSUIPC setting was causing EZDok issues. I've tried TrackIR and like it but, my default is EZDok. Only problem with EZ is that it can be difficult to set-up exactly how you want it. However, it's not impossible just takes some investigation and patience (or, perseverance). I'd suggest really taking some time to create the perfect settings for yourself by reviewing the MANY forum post and Youtube videos that detail processes. Hang in there, I to wanted to give up on EZDok a few times but now that it's working the way I want it's indispensable!

Sleeping compartments of long haul jets
Cool. How crazy would it be to see a flight attendant climb up and into an overhead luggage rack and disappear...

Las Vegas to Albuquerque
Nice! What scenery add-on(s) is that? And, what platform are you using? Beautiful shots...
