I cant ever reach the edge because the area moves with me. Having said that this is the first time I have noticed this. I feel now that it will much more noticeable over flat landscapes. I do a lot of flying over the Brazilian Amazon. I have not noticed this (im sure its still there) in mountainous areas. There are many places I have noticed Google is a bit better and clearer . Bing is good, sometimes very good but so far I feel Google inches ahead a little (in the places I fly to). They seem more on top of their updates and quality. In some places (like below the difference is not massive from an eye candy perspective but Google is more up to date) But theres no question about your last point - the game looks fantastic and I am really enjoying it. Can spend 8+ hours easy every day on it 🙂 Iloilo, Philippines. Top: Bing | Bottom: Google Iloilo, Philippines. Top: Bing | Bottom: Google

Looks amazing. Legendary plane, nice shots 🙂

Hi friends, I'm sure you remember that in FSX there was this massive "texture cross" shape formed around the airplane in which the LOD was high. Beyond that was an abrupt change (made worse by the straight lines of the cross) in LOD which spoilt the immersion. I just noticed that this dreaded thing has shown up in my MSFS 🙄 Are any of you seeing this in your game? Is there a fix please? Thanks for any advice.

Back country low level madness. (My 1st MSFS shots!)
ThrottleUp replied to ThrottleUp's topic in The AVSIM Screen Shots Forum
Thanks for all your kind comments 😀 Im totally hooked and spend hours droning around in this amazing creation. @Bert Pieke I will check that plane out thanks! @Alaska738 thanks, i crashed cos I didnt understand "active pause" while taking these shots! @bernd1151 for sure, totally hooked now! @P_7878 this is a must for me - I just have to have dense forest cover, I will take the FPS hit even but anything less ruins immersion. Amazingly my old computer can manage the dense setting. The big surprise for me is...look at my specs in my sig. This is a 1st gen i7, 13 years old. With Orbx and even in some stock areas of FSX I was getting SINGLE DIGIT FPS. Yet in MSFS I can have some sliders on Ultra or High and keep a steady 30-32FPS. However this applies only if I fly over the boonies and stick to small planes. Once over cities and towns the game is unplayable unfortunately (slide show). I am also unable to fly airliners. But thats fine because I use MSFS for light airplane bush flying only. -
Taking off in Arunachal Pradesh
ThrottleUp replied to Dominique_K's topic in The AVSIM Screen Shots Forum
Will check that out. Unfortunately it still is. Theres a bit of an insurgency there involving a group called ULFA which run around wiith AKs planting explosives in cities etc. Driving is dangerous as pop-up roadblocks can appear. It was actually hairy there on my last visit and i cut short the trip and bugged out after a tense and long cab ride where we were stopped at a road block by randoms asking for money - which the driver had ready lol. Its a pity that many of the nicest places on the planet are dangerous to visit. -

Is that the cellphone app? I think I saw a YT vid of the developer doing a demo of it! Very impressive! Will totally check it out! -
Taking off in Arunachal Pradesh

Yes its very interesting reading about those flights. Its almost a "forgotten war". Most people when it comes to WW2 think of Europe and the Pacific theaters but sitting in between was the S.E Asia theater. Savage fighting took place when the Japanese reached the Indian border. These days if you go there you'll see mostly Russian & Ukranian aircraft. The IAF flies lots of Mi8s, Mi24, HS125, AN32 and the very capable Sukhoi SU30Mki fighter...absolute beast of a jet. Even further to the east in Assam are old airfields with DC3s parked, proper collectors items. One guest house I stayed at had propeller blades as decorations in the garden - from a shot down Japanese plane! -

I have actually been here, really nice part of the world with great people. A lot of WWII aviation history in the neighboring state of Assam. The jungle still has wrecks of American & British transports (C47 etc). -
Windows 11 in October 2025 . Wondering about MSFS perf.
ThrottleUp replied to ThrottleUp's topic in WIN11 OS Forum
There is going to be a reveal on June 24 by MS. Could this mean we will see Win 11 earlier? https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/event -
Is that stock water or a mod? Very nice shots 🙂

Pre-release stream - PMDG DC-6
ThrottleUp replied to ca_metal's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
Thanks for this info 🙂 I would like some head tracking as the hat switch on the stick is getting annoying. I do a lot of low and slow bush flying and constantly need to lean forward to see where the airfield is during a turn etc, I have set up useful hotkeys for camera modes but a head tracker would be great! -

Is it a Track IR he is using to get views like that? I also read about a phone app that uses your smartphone cam to deliver similar functionality. -
MS has announced that Win10 will be shown the door in 2025. A few leaks have emerged already showing the Win11 GUI WIP but if these are real is anyones guess. This has me wondering how it will affect MSFS. Will Win11 give us better performance? We have a long wait but it will be interesting to see what additional info MS gives us. Will this be a free upgrade like 10, I doubt it somehow. https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2021/06/make-way-for-windows-11-windows-10-end-of-life-is-october-2025/

Sorry for not giving more details in my reply. ReShade is a generic post-processing injector for games. It runs over the game making all sorts of effects possible and all are easily adjustable. After you learn it you can get all your games looking amazing. First, download ReShade here: https://reshade.me Hit the installer and point it at MSFS, it should auto detect it. If not you can point the installer at it. You will see the next screen asking which effects you want. Scroll down and select LEGACY EFFECTS A huge list will appear. You do NOT need all of them so dont worry. Uncheck all of them using the button on bottom and then select these: AdaptiveSharpen AmbientLight Clarity Colourfulness Curves DPX FakeHDR FineSharp FXAA HighPassSharpen Layer Levels LumaSharpen MagicBloom SMAA Vibrance I have bolded the two effects that deal with smoothing. The other effects are very nice too. Each effect has a slider that can be used in real time while the game is running. You can then save the preset. A small tutorial will begin at launch, let it run. Let me know if you need any help. I will follow this thread.

Shift+Z is back !!!!!!!

Thanks for sharing this, sorely missed. I hope a modder can bring back the handy view keys from FSX (S, SHIFT+S, A, SHIFT+A etc) -
MSFS - Xbox Series X|S Gameplay Trailer
ThrottleUp replied to ChaoticBeauty's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
Looks amazing, this console is showing its power. I was just curious - will the game be moddable on XBSX? -
Others like full cabins and even in FSX devs had a choice of model in the airplane selection menu - with our without the cabin. For a plane like this with such luxurious and interesting interior I feel they should do a detailed cabin. Wish it was possible to have a mini game within the cabin where we could be one of the FAs serving food, cleaning etc Would add awesomely to the immersion on long flights. And if im not mistaken the captains on these things would make trips to the cabin to meet passengers.

The FXAA & SMAA in ReShade work so well for me. Worth a try.

Thank you, I will check this out, sounds like it might just do the trick! The pic posted is from FSX so of course it will look dated. Im not saying use that UI for MSFS! I love virtual cockpits as much as anyone but I am NOT a fan of zooming into knobs and buttons. I am learning the hotkeys for setting the AP which will take some of the pain away of those torture-inducing rotary knobs and weeny little buttons on the Garmins 🙄 No complaints IRL but on a screen with a mouse no thanks! Exactly my thoughts. What difference does it make if the selected ALT is sent to the system via the Garmin knob or a utility that you can quickly input the ALT and then close with a hotkey. Done 🙂 Learning the hotkeys for the default AP commands is helping a lot though!
