  1. Fighters are cool but if I wanted this Id jump to DCS where I can use the weapon systems, fight enemy AI etc. When it comes to military planes I hope to see transport category stuff come out because those planes lend themselves more to MSFS. C-17, C-5, AN-124, C-130J, KC-390, C-27 etc.
  2. I dont understand why they wont be their either because the rivals Laminar will be there. They are having a landing competition (you can enter online if you want, check their FB).
  3. Start button > start typing "Set up.." and you should see Set up USB Game Controllers Does it detect the controller on blue tooth?
  4. Its a great service, you just have to use it more to get used to it 🙂 Its pretty much the modern answer to 90s chat rooms but far more flexible and of course the real beauty is you...anyone....can make their own Discord! As @Waldo Pepper said you can make really good friends on there and banter away while gaming.
  5. Ensure Community is empty (you can just rename it). CTRL + E has always worked for me, maybe check the keyboard bindings.
  6. This is very good news! I look forward to it. Right now I still use X-Plane for airliner flying because FPS in airliners in MSFS are single digit for me. So I cant fly tubeliners into places like Singapore, Los Angeles, Seoul, Tokyo etc. in MSFS.
  7. True, theres an almost infinite variety of configurations of PCs out there, affects us all differently. I plan on building a new rig and look forward to enjoying MSFS to its fullest. Right now on this old one I can only fly GA low and slow out over the boonies or very small villages. Forest density does not affect me at all, I have trees maxed out and can get upto 45FPS. But cannot fly airliners and cannot fly near any cities. FPS drops to single digits.
  8. This is interesting. I didnt know about this limitation. How does such a modern title not have such a thing implemented? Hope they fix it!
  9. I have had the game for about 3 months and have had just 1 CTD - and that was one related to overclocking. I learnt fast that this game hates OC so I bought it down from 3.8 to 3.5Ghz and not a single CTD. And this is with 66 add-ons in the community folder on an ancient 14 year old i7-920 PC.
  10. The game already has hotkeys for quickly zooming in close to the panel but it works far better IMO if you create your own view keys using the numpad. This makes it very quick to use (just press one key). For example: Num 8 = custom panel view facing foward Num 5 = zoom into autopilot panel Num 2 = zoom into main panel Num 0 = look up at overhead Num 7 = look forward left (45 deg) Num 4 = look 90 deg left ..and so on. It does not take long to set up. If you need help just reply to this.
  11. I actually had no big issues like CTDs, of course the increased performance was welcome. After an update I always rename the Community folder to test the base game only. What makes me gripe about SU5 (well at least on my system) is the bleached out lighting. Its like the world is being lit up by 10 suns. Thats the major one for me with a couple of others (the tree draw distance etc) But since I got the game (which Ive had for about 6 weeks) I have had only one CTD - and that was early on before I found out this game hates overlocked CPUs so I bought mine down from 3.8 to 3.5Ghz and never had a CTD. I will just accept that updates may affect things and theres nothing I can do about it. The game is still amazing and the visuals amazing and I'll keep flying 🙂
  12. Im more interested in that C27 (is that a C27?) in the 2nd vid!
  13. I can see the appeal of it now that you mentioned the bit about conflicting mods. I have heavily modded games like Skyrim and Fallout managed using mod managers and they do warn of possible conflicts so it will be handy to have that in MSFS. As of now Im happy without the Linker program and just keep dunking mods right into Community. Im planning on building a new rig with SSDs so im curious to see how the load times improve.
  14. Thats interesting, I didnt know about all this. I will keep this in mind for the future thanks!
  15. As much as I am not a fan of this system I recognize the pointless difficulties in dealing with multiple issues from millions of gamers all on different versions. So having EVERYONE on the same field is the way forward. Prepare for many more issues ahead but no choice, this is the way it has to be done. When your game is running perfectly - play it as much as you can and enjoy it before the next update rolls in and we all watch to see what will be totaled next 😆
  16. Looks amazing. Hope we can sail huge freighters one day along with sailboats and coast guard ships etc. If they go to town with this we could have an element of Marine Sim embedded in MSFS. Could use feeds from Marine Traffic website for RW route ideas. https://www.marinetraffic.com
  17. If its neatly done you can get very long HDMI cables from Amazon and still hook your gaming rig up to the TV. In the place I lived before my rig was upstairs and my big TV downstairs. I got those neat wall cable-hiders. Inside that I ran a 15 meter long HDMI cable & USB hub. You couldn't even tell a PC was feeding the TV. You couldn't even tell a long wire channel was alongside the stairs. The USB hub took the wireless keyboard & PS4 or Xbox controller.
  18. Agreed, the idea of enabling just certain areas of the the world and only certain planes does not appeal to me at all. Yes the load times can be a drag but I make a coffee, come back and then I have everything loaded. I can see ONE area where such a feature would be useful - troubleshooting. If you have tons of mods and its not clear which ones are misbehaving you could enable maybe 10 at a time to see when the CTD happens then narrow it down slowly. You can do the same without the Linker but I guess it makes it easier (I dont use it). I noticed the same as you btw, not a very big difference between full on Community folder vs empty one.
  19. Just curious - so you keep having to exit & restart the game if you want to fly in a different scenery area with different planes? I much prefer putting up with the long load time and have everything available once in game.
  20. What is the accuracy of helicopter flight dynamics in this game? The airflow around the rotors is extremely complex specially during the hover, transition to forward flight etc. I know nothing about flying helis but I've always found them intriguing machines.
  21. I know what you mean! I use MSFS and XP11 almost in equal measure. They dont compete on my system and I'm no fanboi of either - instead for me they just compliment each other. If I fly low and slow GA In XP11 then the pain is real seeing the dated landscape and cardboard trees. However I only use XP11 now for my B737-800, MAX-8 & Airbus A220 fix. From up in the flight levels its not a big deal. But when I want to fly the Caravan, Carbon Cub, C172 and similar then wow MSFS scenery takes this flying to the next level! The immersion is complete. So for me the aviation trio is complete on my system. MSFS for low and slow, XP11 for tubeliners & DCS for carnage 😷
  22. @March Hare if Im not mistaken the train sim is built on Unreal Engine - which was created by Epic. So thats kinda neat.
  23. That is the best way to get games and its what I always do. After a game is released Im in no rush to get it (plenty others to play) by the time Im ready to get the next game its "special edition" will be available. This will include all the DLC and for way way cheaper. Exactly how you got train sim. I would suggest Dovetail games forums if you need help with stuff. https://forums.dovetailgames.com/forums/pc-discussion.97/
  24. I read a post on the official forums on how this one gamer reverted back to SU4 by using a disk backup image. He said to disconnect the internet when launching the game and only reconnect it when you are on the main menu system (or in the airplane) - i cant recall which. I have no idea if such trickery works, interesting nevertheless.
