WU6. I'm seeing these very FSX-style textures from high up. This screenshot is from FL320 Render scaling = 100 Terrain detail slider = 100 Fauna variety = 100 Texture resolution = High Terrain vector data = High Grass & bushes = High Trees = High Volumetric clouds = High Rez = 1920 X 1080 I'm just curious if others on here see this sort of thing from high alt? It would help seeing your responses in case this is an issue on my installation. Why does it revert to the patchwork of colored FSX rectangles? Theres no more illusion of forested areas and the straight edges spoil things. Unless this is by design from high altitude? I dont expect detailed trees from high up but theres no feeling anymore of a 3D forest cover down below on the mountainsides 😐 Thanks for any info. For the record this machine has no issues with textures and vegetation at low level (example pic):

Does this happen even if you disconnect the yoke and throttle? Try it as a test. Just use keyboard and mouse for a short test flight. Check the Failures setting. Ensure Community folder is empty (you can just rename it) for testing. Check for latest drivers for that throttle and yoke

Exhilarating. Asobo, Microsoft and the Swiss Alps

I hardly ever fly in Europe but your post has made me curious and I will check out Switzerland, thanks for sharing your experience! -
Force MSFS To Load 10x Faster
ThrottleUp replied to bean_sprout's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
So...the slow load times @bean_sprout and I are experiencing are because of background internet data loading? Havent got a chance to do the trick yet will be doing a flight shortly. Trying to decide a route! -
Force MSFS To Load 10x Faster

Cant wait to try this. I have a decent net connection but this old PC creaks. 5:30 mins to the home screen with empty Community folder. -
Airport / rw lighting - still overdone ?
ThrottleUp replied to jcomm's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
I'm getting the floating runway lights with the latest update and this is even after trying the recommended fix of render scaling = 100 Although I do hear that fix works perfectly for many others. This is at grass strip in the Netherlands: -

This is the best state MSFS has ever been in
ThrottleUp replied to abrams_tank's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
I will be the first one to say that I hope Im totally wrong and that you are right! I just worry and I will never be comfortable with the fact that there are not two dev streams - one for XB one for PC. I know logistically and financially this is just not possible and I just have to get used to it. SU5 spoilt some things for me (bleached lighting, trees etc) but also bought it with great performance gains. So I cant say its all bad. But the best approach I feel is for gamers like me to stop stressing about these monthly updates. They will keep coming. They will fix some stuff and break some stuff - which the next one will address. Nothing I can do about it. The game still looks amazing and I must tell myself that I struggled to run FSX on this old machine but this state of the art MSFS runs like a dream on the same machine! -
THANK YOU Microsoft and Asobo!
ThrottleUp replied to RobJC's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
Its an amazing game no doubt and I agree with what you said. Even with the problems of SU5 I looked past that and enjoyed the treat that this title is. A couple of nights ago I couldn't sleep so I did a night flight in a C172 over the sea from the UK coast to the Netherlands. Droning along in the pitch darkness I saw a massive field of red lights on the sea below. I did a google on the second monitor and found the UK has the worlds largest offshore windfarms. What I saw was the Greater Gabbard network. The wow didn't end there. In the distance I began to notice city-light air glow from distant Rotterdam. Amazing! I had all the lights off in my room and stared fascinated as the air glow increased and the coast came into to view. Came in for a smooth landing and shut it down...and heard the nice ambient airport noises. Such nice escapism from the worries and stresses of our daily lives. So yea props to MS, Asobo, Black Shark, Bing Maps team & Azure! -

I feel It will be at least another 4 years before this game settles down. Until then its gonna be a roller coaster ride of it working and looking amazing and then the next update wrecking it. So for those of us who are lucky now and have it working great - make the most of it before we see that Mandatory Update notice again 😄 -
Please critique this FS2020 update process

Ohh ok, I understand. A kind of "flush the system" after installing the big updates! -

I'm on Steam as well and I've never done this and have never had issues. Just curious and wanted to know what the restarting does. Is it something to do with the Registry? Thanks for any info 🙂 -
Default 787-10: quite good even w/o the Heavy Div mod
ThrottleUp replied to Noel's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
This is just something I have read but is it true that Asobo have copy-pasted Airbus code into the 787? As in the A320 FBW behavior is embedded into the 787? I hope this is not true 😮 -
Is there a world update coming today?
ThrottleUp replied to Gadget FPV's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
Incoming, brace yourselves 😆 Quick, enjoy a flight in SU5 before tree LOD is reduced to 1cm in return for 1000 FPS 🙃😛 I hope they fix the bleached out burning look of the world. The sun is 150,000,000km away but in MSFS they moved it to 75,000,000km 😷 -

Its pretty telling as to how far we've come with gaming visuals when even the "before" shot to me looks amazing! -
Flying tips are driving me crazy
ThrottleUp replied to spilok's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
I agree, they are a huge PITA and I have them permanently turned off. The fact that they are enabled by default shows that MS is really gunning for the newbies to introduce them to the basics. -

You can rename your Community folder and then test the game. This is what I do for a test when something is odd. Always test with the base game without Community active to ensure no mods. -
Please tell me that this isn't beautiful....

Nice video, the elevator music should be ejected and replaced with turbofan noise though 😁 -
What happens when MSFS goes EOL?
ThrottleUp replied to chickster25's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
Whats in my memory is how we all woke up to the news that the ACES team had been disbanded. I hope in 5yrs , 8yrs this game stays strong with the addons (free and payware) coming thick and fast, PC & XBox growing and growing. To show MS that flight titles are popular so that they dont start getting ideas of pulling the plug. I will end by saying - do not worry about such things. Enjoy the moment. Its just a baby game, been out for just 12 months. Load it up and go fly 🙂 -
“Trough” in scenery. UK.
ThrottleUp replied to ianb2469's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
I have seen this during flights in Kansas. Specially while on the ramp. There was this line through which I could see the underside of the mesh and into a huge void. -
Good points, specially the last one. When it comes to what they can offer visually MS has the cake all to itself so none of the others out there are really a threat. DCS is very good and I feel its clouds are better than MSFS but its a very specialized sim and does not have a 1:1 world We will have to wait till next year to see which show they appear at!
