  1. Thanks for this! It worked fine for me. However, if you do the gsx.cfg edit while still running FSX, you will need to restart gsx and then go thru the deboarding menu again. Remember that each aircraft seems to have its own cfg file & that file is located in your main AppData...Roaming folder.
  2. Thanks Kabronicus. I am one of many waiting on Steve's payware. Smooth air & blue skies to you! - EDF
  3. DirectX 10 GPU = NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 Ti Driver version = 9.18.13.1422 *** I've attached a Word doc file containing my system specs, if that helps. Thank you! EDF
  4. First off, I'd like to say how impressed I am with the PMDG 777! It was pretty darn easy transitioning to it, after flying all the other PMDG Boeings! Thanks for that. The SMALL issues I have are: - When I use Direct-X in FSX, I lose a couple pieces of interior textures. I have attached the differences for techie reivew. - Also, related to FMS features, when I try to enter an ATC fix, such as FH515 (for an arrival into Hahn, Germany), I get an unrecognized fix message; essentially, I cannot use local fixes, like I can with the 737, MD-11, and 747. Even Level-D and Q-Sim allow me to use these fixes. But not the Tripple-7. Be nice to have it back, if possible. Thanks a bunch PMDG for getting this airplane out for us simmy guys! As a retired ATC and commercial pilot, I really appreciate PMDG's realism and overall great products! Help or guidance with my issues would also be appreciated...not a biggy, just a few minor bumps in the road to progress! Eric Faber
  5. How about for FS-Inn? Same entry?
  6. (referring to previous posts requiring dictionaries and thesaurusisisi) - this is not the place to bloviate or pontificate; however, aviating is often praised.
  7. Been trying/wanting to use DirectX for years! However, some add-ons support it, and others do not. It's been much easier for me to just not use Direct-X at all. I will say that using P3D seems to alleviate many of my direct-x irregularities; however, I do prefer FSX for many other reasons, and tend to fly FSX much more frequently. I've seen that there is a person attempting to develop a payware solution to these problems, but have not seen the solution expose itself, as if today. I too will patiently await a viable and worthwhile solution.
  8. I agree with everyone here. The PMDG MD-11 is an outstanding FSX/P3D aircraft! I may fly others, but ALWAYS return to the good old MD-11. It really is a fine airplane. Next to the PMDG 747s and 8s, the MD-11F is my go to airplane! Can't imagine why they would not at least update the capabilities to NGX, but then I don't run the company! No matter, I'll always enjoy flying the PMDG line of aircraft. Now, if they would only make their current line X-Plane compatible, we'd be rockin'! (*** I know I'm dreaming, but it's fun to dream sometimes!). Go MD-11 Go!
  9. Sorry to hear PMDG has decided not to pursue further improvements to the MD-11. I really enjoy flying the FSX version of the MD-11F. I have had absolutely no problems with the airplane since installing it several years ago. It has always been an aircraft I enjoy flying; it's truly a joy to fly, via autopilot or manual controls. Once you learn this airplane, just like with the others, it's one you'll always enjoy going back to - after flying the NGX, or 747, etc. I do look forward to the upcoming improvements to the 747; this is another really nice PMDG plane to fly. At the same time, I am saddened by the fact that the veneralve MD-11 will not get the facelift it really deserves.
  10. I found a flight sim advertised on the Internet called Virtual Pilot 3d. It claims to be 64-bit, but there seems (to me) to be many unanswered concerns, such as: is it compatible with FSX, FS9, and/or X-Plane add-ons? Also, does it work with FSUIPC, ActiveSky, REX, and other add-ons? Does anyone know anything factual about this Virtual Pilot 3d program? Like many of you, I have also installed P3D (on a separate Hard drive) and do enjoy using it. I have found it to be compatible with most FSX programs and add-ons; however, I've found a few programs (fsx) that simply will not work with P3D. Anyway, I'm wondering if anyone out there has any real, factual experience with this 64-bit Virtual Pilo 3d program.
  11. I completed this procedure; however, I found it very easy to install most of my FSX scenery & aircraft (including PMDG and Q-Sim aircraft, using a program (cheap) sold by Estonia software (http://www.flightsim.ee/ ) . I obtained the program at Simmarket.com. This program saved me a lot of headaches and works easily. Now I can run FSX and Prepar3d anytime I want without hassles!
  12. This seemed to solve the problem for me... Went into Control Panel / Devices / My Saitek 52 was displayed - so I right clicked on the SAITEK X52 icon and selected "Troubleshoot" Windows found that the controller needed fixed, so I let it fix it. Seems to work now. ALthough I will say that I download the Win7/8 profiler program and drivers first from the SAITEK Support Web Site and installed them; then restarted the computer; then did the control panel - troubleshoot option. Hope this helps guys!
  13. Nice! Thanks for the link. Nice to have the Start Menu back!
  14. Best thing MS could do for us is make Flight compatible with FSX/FS9. It'll be a while before I even consider Flight; I'm still burning from getting left high and dry by MS bailing on the FSX community! Scenery is like eye candy....nice, but you need a plane if you're going to get up in the thin air! What the heck are we FSX/FS9 enthusiasts to do with the thousands we've invested in add-ons for the sims that MS left us high and dry with??? Perhaps Alaska is the best place for this new sim...way the heck and gone from most simmers...and about as cold as they left us with FSX. Bah....
  15. My sound was virtually gone, after installing the patch. Ended up installing Synchro-Soft (thrid party) sound set (which I personnaly prefer anyway).
  16. OH man! I bet this gauge is popular with ALL LEvel-D guys! Can I get a copy of it please? I've also bought GSX and would love to have the gauge/buttons on my overhead! Thanks in advance for taking the initiative!
  17. I've been running FS-Inn with absolutely no problems. However, there may have been initial problem/error messages I cannot recall now. When I got the error message, I just typed the error text into Google - and got a solution. Anyway, I had FS-Inn installed WAY before installing the NGX - with other PMDG aircraft already install; no probs. Best of luck to you! I prefer FS-Inn over Squawkbox (I used SBox for years before turning to FS-Inn).
  18. I've been using this sound set for over a month now - and love 'em! Die-hard PMDG folks will want to argue about nit-noy things, but bottomline is this sound set is not bad at all. Rock on PMDG!

  20. I've downloaded all files for AS2012, but when I run the install program, using Administrator Rights, I get error messages about being unable to install cloud files. I've attached both messages I got. Please help. I am re-downloading all files again in hopes I get non-corrupt files this time.
  21. Wow! Thanks for offering your expertise!I would like some repaints for FreightDogs Air Cargo. Any/all of the NGX models would be very much appreciated. Also, if you're into the other PMDG aircraft, like the MD-11 Freighter and/or the Boeing 747-400 Freighters. You can see FrieghtDogs current pain scheme at www.freightdogs.infoPlease let me know if you need more pics or info, etc. Happy to help make it easier for you, if I am able!I've attached pics of current FS2004 aircraft for you to get an idea of our paint scheme. Many, many thanks! I hope you are able to do something for the newest PMDG NGX aircraft flown by FreightDogs Cargo.
  22. Hey everyone. If you're running FSX and have gotten tired of the VORTAC frequency difference between FSX's navaid scenery and the real-world change --- then I have a solution. I've edited the bgl files for FSX's main scenery and also the one for FS DreamTeam's KFLL scenery. I've changed the frequency to coincide with the real-world freq of 116.5 (versus the old 114.4 freq). All you have to do is: 1) backup your current file in fsx's scenery folder (called nvx03020.bgl) and if you have FS DreamTeam's scenery for FLL, it's in the FS DreamTeam scenery folder (called AF_KFLL.bgl). If you'd like the updated files, please PM me and I'll email them to you.
  23. Gotta tell ya, for a USA-based pilot, fly VATSIM Europe in the early afternoon for live ATC at its best! From Scandinavia to the Med, the European controllers are the best around. Evenings in the USA, you have to take what you can get; ATC is usually VERY unpredictable at best (although they seem to be trying to schedule more events lately). Still, you cannot beat the human-to-human interface that LIVE ATC gives you, especially if you're serious about improving your skills. Go get it! Enjoy!!! VATSIM truly rules (in my my humble opinion).
  24. Good job! Thanks for the info on VATSIM Tuesdays at Zurich! I love flying in Europe - the ATC there is almost always EXCELLENT and the controllers are always professional and courteous. I'll try to remember Tuesdays in Europe from now on. Love that NGX!
  25. Count me in! I'm thinking if we want a world-wide "show" we'll have to make it an all day/night event to cover all sides of the world clock...I'm on the USA East coast and would prefer an evening launch/recovering into JFK. ATC coverage isn't really a show stopper to me...
