  1. ??? Other sims are relevant where the use and development of P3D are affected. Cheers
  2. Didn't v5 go to Nvidia Wave Water ?. In v4.5 waves are 3D if set to max which has quite an effect, else they are different, not 3D but maybe better looking ? And REX Textures do have an effect, although yes I do remember FSX being somewhat superior in water looks, plus there was a dedicated 3rd party tool you could use to tweek them. Cheers
  3. I usually tinker with or rewrite what I find to be irksome, at least within the limits of what I can achive. This is a custom cloud shader I've been tinkering with - P3D 4.5 HF3 only.
  4. The above would have to be the most typical corp speak PR piece that literally tells nothing about actual plans other than they are going to try and not break anything... Heh, still a very much wait and see... in my books. Cheers
  5. Thanks @Jack_Sawyer and @andy1252 I found some info on stall recovery in a post on A2A and in the crash report of an actual P51 that had stalled @ ~7,700 feet and did not recover. It seems a lot of height is needed to recover - up to 9,000~10,000 feet Cheers A final Moonbeam
  6. Been getting into a bit of P51 flying of late. And what a learning experience it's been 🙂 The A2A P51 Civ might have nicer instruments than the Mil version, but it certainly is a beast to fly and very unforgiving where most of my flights have been ending up in the maintenance hanger as complete overhauls. Speaking of being a beast to fly, does anyone have any hints on stall recovery ? Most of the time I seem to end up in a unrecoverable flat spin, not all but most... Glamorous Gal, some mighty fine paintwork. Moonbeam McSwine, there are a number of Moonbeam repaints, this is one I found where the cockpit has also included a degree of repainting. The cockpit, differences include more black and the white handle on the right, normally red. Lining up for landing. A heavy landing where the gear collapsed and yet another raise on jacks and full overhaul. After a taking a break I migrated the FSX-SE P51 racer series, nowhere near as hard to fly as the A2A variety. Cheers
  7. Now this is the type of video puts those crew in the lower levels of professionalism, it starts with wierd laughter and for the most part is two guys rambling on. Anyway at about the 30 min mark they are talking about no longer developing for the P3D market due to the bottom having fallen out of their sales, but they do actually say still available to purchase at a 50% discount with a caveate of no support. If I missed the part where they say total with withdraw from sale in less than a year's time please pass on the timeline of that statement. Cheers
  8. I did intially buy their DHC3 Turbo Otter, which actually felt a bit of a letdown, it just didn't have that polished feel to it in the way that other similarly priced aircraft did. That said it grew on me once I'd learned to master it. I mean it was no A2A, RealAir or Vertx but it did have an engine that was easy to kill if you were not careful, plus it accumulated damage to the point of failure in the sky some flights later, then having to glide into the nearest landing strip. Essentially there were consequences if processes were not followed. There other stuff was Ok, but some had more bugs that I would have expected on a released version that's had several rounds of fix releases. And quite obvious ones too, like wheels not quite touching the ground and other silly xml syntax bugs. I'd still buy more if I could, they did have a few gems. Cheers RIP
  9. Hi @Reader, Yes that's a quote regarding their MilViz military development and contracts and you also left out the part where they say there will be no new development for P3D outside of their military obligations. However none of that actually mentions withdrawal of the existing product line, in fact the opposite was stated, that they are reducing the price by 50% for those who want to purchase. sooo, give up 🙂 Cheers
  10. Perhaps your reading technique could use a bit re-worK 😉 given your nick 🙂 "They will still develop for the P3D commercial/ military market but these products will not be available to the enthusiast." I didn't read anything about withdrawing the already existing product line from sale. Infact what I did see was... "It’s not entirely all bad news as they’ve now put all their legacy P3D products on sale at 50%, but without support." And I was lucky, I managed to buy at the 50% + another 30% off, still I wanted to purchase more but it was just rude to do what they did. Cheers
  11. And I know it's been talked to death but vsyncing @ 30 Hz greatly reduces overall load and allows spear proccessing room to keep those FPS up an on the vsync, whihc in turn gives a nice smooth flight. Cheers
  12. Have you any refrence to where they said the'll be withdrawing their products from sale totally and with a year's notice ?
  13. Well... I suppose it depends on the day, the time, the angle of sun and so forth and the year of the sim used for the pic, And I'm not saying MSFS doesn't look nice at times, although it can look just a tad on the overly vibrant and over exposed side. But whenever I see that sun in MSFS I just cannot help but think "Teletubbies" 🤡 This look better ?
  14. Also don't fret, there are other nice planes and places to buy A2A (the pinnacle of GA and also has a great B17), Ants (nice inexpensive quality), Flight 1 (the iFly Boeings), Just Flight (some nice Arrows and tons of others), Quality Wings (nice jets), NextGen (Citation CJ4X V2), AeroSoft (famous for their Twin Otter and Airbuses), FSL (high level airbus) PMDG (Boeings) Leonardo (MDs) TFDi design (717) Alabeo (the C421 is quite good and has a number of mods), Carenado (lots of good mod kits for these, check the forum in AVSIM) There are also a bunch of freebees over on Orbx Direct/Central. And I could go on... Googling will help. I even have a couple of FSX-SE planes migrated over. Cheers DHC2 migrated from FSX-SE
  15. Hey @Kalnon, understand your pain, I went to buy just after the new year with some xmas bonus $$ only to find nothing. I'l note though there has been a change on the website since then, as they now actually display the planes they used to sell, when I went to buy there was nothing shown at all. Cheers
  16. Well... if you take a look at my first pic you'll see 11854 MB used out of 12160 MB. And I run distance drawing and densities greater than that offered by sliders. e.g. AUTOGEN_BATCH_LOD=1 and if you look far in the distance of that pic you'll see the treelines on the hills, might have to display the pic full sized to see though. I guess this is where those 3090/4090 cards come into their own :-) Cheers
  17. Hey @bigsky10, Here's a little bit of aircraft.cfg detail to help keep the turbine engine from running away on start. Applies to P3D 4.5+ Cheers
  18. LM have practically already said their new simulation toolkit will be the 64bit Unreal engine, wouldn't have been possible without the Unreal engine's move to 64 bit. https://www.unrealengine.com/en-US/spotlights/lockheed-martin-engages-unreal-engine-for-aerospace-simulation-r-d How or it they integrate to P3D is unknown, or perhap their "new" new sim will be something entirely built around Unreal with no backwards compatibility. https://www.lockheedmartin.com/en-us/news/features/2022/gaming-technology-the-future-of-training.html I would imagine P3D itself would live on for quite some time in some sort of compatable form as it is widely used outside of the consumer market and business hates big and potentially breaking changes foisted upon them. And Unreal does have it's followers, like BlacksharkAI for a ready built world platform plugin, just like MSFS except it's based on the Maxar’s satellite imagery instead of Microsoft's Bing imagery. https://blackshark.ai/blackshark-ai-launches-globe-plugin-for-unreal-engine-making-the-whole-world-available-in-3d-to-anyone/ Of course such services wouldn't be free and I'd expect subscription would be part and parcel, as it is for pretty much everything now. The above said for the immediate future I'm hoping for a well and truly "fixed" 5.3 as 6.0, something that doesn't choke on polyline 3D, maybe with dev tools updates for WYSIWYG type building without the need to constantly restart the sim, some form of streaming scenery plugin, or even a better and more accurrate scenery layout built upon open street maps and compatibilty tools like effects updaters, that sort of thing. Of course until released speculation is all there is 🙂 Cheers
  19. Heh, that ends with their MSFS releases... Given they only distribute via the Microsoft store there's encryption applied which means no community mods or fixes like those seen for their previous ranges. Additionally I would say a large number of new MSFS users are quite the picky bunch (having been raised on FPS & RPG games of very high quaity) and will punish a developer with poor QA and features in the various forums etc. Plus MSFS's ongoing development at a.. shall we call it a Microsoft Sales department mandated rate means bugs, bugs and more bugs and devs needing to go back to their codebase to fix or workaround, lest their shiny release no longer be in a sellable condition. This is something all devs now have to come to grips with, because FSX was a static release, and P3D was in an almost static state where the P3D devs tried hard to not break existing software. And so the devs grew complacent and somewhat entitled where some would even refuse to update or fix bugs in their releases. And that attitude ends for them... 😉 Cheers
  20. Speculation - maybe not too far fetched though 🤐
  21. Hi @bigsky10, I know they do work fine in P3D v4.5 even with the GTN 750 mod I've installed. And I fired up P3D v5.3 with the same aircraft and same GTN 750 mod and yes the lights worked and displayed the same as per v4.5. Perhaps if you enable P3D's content logging it will capture some clues as to what is going on. Cheers Night - no cabin light. Night - with cabin light. And daytime.
  22. Great additional comment to expand the thread reference. I couldn't really say loading time increasing was really noticable to any degree myself, but I suppose if I timed it. And yeah the CPU is doing lots of work but does feel pretty good loading overall. Cheers
  23. Hi @bigsky10, I've personally found Carenado support practically useless. My first taste of Carenado support was when I purchased the Steam Gauge version of the Caravan C208 and noticed there were no cockpit switch click sounds. So I raised a ticket and they said reinstall as it should have sounds, and after much back and forth and myself fully reviewing what was actually installed and contained within the installer - there were no sounds, even though at the end of it Carenado support were still insisting there were. So I built my own. and that got me started on finding and adding mods to the Carenado range. But back to lighting, the lights are typically built into the model and what you can do is overlay them with defaults chosen from the range included with the std. P3D aircraft. e.g. the F16 or C130, or whatever lights suit. I also use the Shockwave lights that I had in FSX. You'll find the fully loaded mod package for the PC12 has been configured using lights overlayed, which you can change to whatever you'd prefer. Mostly the time consuming part is lighting placements but since that's already done the lights can be whatever you'd prefer. There is likely a better model based method, however I've found messing with the models tends to break things that means a ton of work to find and fix. Best to look for things outside of the model if at all possible. Cheers
  24. Hi @ggerolamo, Yes it is and as @newtie says, It's everything I could find rolled up into one, the thread below has all the info. Cheers
