  1. Saitek/Logitech are like toys compared to the Honeycomb options. I considered the Saitek pedals but for some reason, sellers believe that they rise faster than inflation. The price gap between the Saitek and Honeycomb should be a lot wider and once was a lot wider, until demand pushed the prices up. At least in my region.
  2. This sounds like the ideal use for the Quest Kodiak from Simworks Studios. I recommend checking out the threads here about it, as it seems incredibly popular. It's not single seated and it is a rather large aircraft, but.. It's primarily a bush plane, it's fast, smaller than the caravan, not pressurised but it has supplemental oxygen, hand flies nicely but has a working autopilot. It's like a Caravan but more capable and more versatile. It has also been popularised by the youtube channel Missonary Bush Pilot, who flies in and out of mud strips on the side of cliffs in the Oceania region on a daily basis in the real aircraft.
  3. They are very good and I enjoy watching them. But given that it's mostly a vlog, I'm struggling to follow any comprehensive tutorial. He drops tidbits of information but he has a job to focus on. I would benefit from something more sterile and laid out. It seems everyone and their mums have made FBW A320 tutorials due to it's popularity. I hope we see some based on the Kodiak as time goes on.
  4. Did anyone find a comprehensive tutorial for the Kodiak yet? Other than Ryans, the missionary bush pilot. His aircraft has some options that the in-sim one doesn't.
  5. I certainly will. Impressed with the area it covers and I already own the NZ mesh, which I'm happy with.
  6. I will absolutely try this. I am considering starting in New Zealand and heading towards the Asia and the Himalayas, hopping from place to place.
  7. Only managed to fit four and a half hours of flying in since I bought the Kodiak but every time I use it, I'm enjoying it more. Flew out to Barra from Prestwick and back with a stop at Coll on the return leg yesterday. Landing on the sand and taxing over to the buildings just felt right, ideal aircraft for the job. Brilliant add on, extremely versatile subject for hours and hours of different types of flying. Haven't encountered any obvious issues and suffered no CTDs. Very pleased with my purchase.
  8. Surely they just have to press 'go' on the full release of the beta? Technically the fix does exist, it's just sat in testing in the form of the open beta. Although, I agree with OP that I do not want to be a beta tester so I also decided not to install as I'd have no desire to spend time providing feedback.
  9. His videos don't teach you how to fly the Kodiak. So it'd be a very indirect and longer process where you wouldn't learn the "how" or "why" with the viewer having to make assumptions based on their current knowledge. It is well outside of my budget though, so I too will stick to the entertaining vlogs.
  10. Just done my first circuit after reading some of the documentation and tips from here. No issues to report. Seems a great add on so far. I think I shall be very pleased with this after I put a few hours in.
  11. Well, I just went to buy through the Simworks website and once it had finished with paypal, it took me back to the site and took my money but didn't seem to register that I'd actually bought it. Stuck here with no products in my account. Nevermind, the payment soon reversed and it allowed me to complete on the second try.
  12. Nose down trim should be around 75% for take off, as opposed to neutral. That's the indication I'm getting from the documentation, at least.
  13. If you haven't, check out this thread;
  14. Currently working on something like this myself, albeit slowly. Started in Quillayute, WA. Decided I can use any single prop plane that is suitable, so it's been mostly the C172 and the JustFlight Arrow except for particularly high altitude airports or excessive time over open water. I'm doing flights with an average time of an hour, mostly VFR and meandering wherever the scenery takes me but with major cities/sights as must-see. Covered huge parts of the US by travelling north to south in a large W shape onto Canada and crossed the Atlantic to eventually get to the UK, went down through France and Spain and the Mediterranean Islands then south east France and Monaco and into Italy, up into the Alps and so on. It's been very enjoyable. However, currently on pause due to the state of live weather.
  15. That's an exciting addition to the sim. Looks absolutely stunning.
  16. Good to see them bringing the products over. Nice to see some interesting UK airports that are often forgotten. Interesting to hear that perspective on the SDK. Most positive take on the MSFS SDK so far, I'd say.
  17. The limitations and expense involved in photographing the entire earths surface mean that we'll probably always have to deal with differing quality. That and how they collect the photogrammetry images are fascinating subjects, if you have some time to look into them as it's an amazing achievement. It has helped me come to peace with what we have too. Now if only they could get it to a size where we could download it rather than stream it..
  18. All seem very sensible suggestions. I had not considered that aircraft should be electrically grounded during the process, but I guess they do build up a good amount of static as they pass through the air. Thanks for posting the very clear picture.
  19. I had similar thoughts as the OP, but in regard to the Quest Kodiak. Yeah we have the Caravan, but the Kodiak is such an incredible machine. Now, I got lucky and Simworks decided to bring the Kodiak to MSFS. Hopefully the fortune will continue for all our wishlists!
  20. I think you are probably on the money when you say 'let them work at a pace' and such. The gaming industry is definitely a different beast to what it once was. Day one patches and monthly patches are becoming scarily common. I'm just thanking my lucky stars that things are not as bad as the Forza Horizon 5 launch on PC!
  21. The market is the healthiest it's been in a long time. From hardware to sales records. I think this is undeniable. It's not perfect, but I'm happy we have it, plus the commitment to make it better and a clear timeline for it's support. I think the daily "pun title about how word-not-allowed Asobo are" just takes away from the clear progress being made in our hobby/this industry. Sorry. Happy to listen to your reasoning. You are probably right, we all want the best for the sim. It's just so many of these threads and much of the discussion I see, you'd think Asobo had made a personal sleight against some people. As opposed to the reality of sales records being broken for software, first and third party along with whole new companies with whole new products from software to hardware. The entire industry has had a preverbal kick up the word-not-allowed, but you wouldn't think so reading here.
  22. Really bored of these threads. What would you prefer, a sim being actively worked on month by month? Or 14 years of silence from a closed studio?
  23. Interesting. So either it's still an issue, or the METAR limitations are a feature. Not sure what is worse.
  24. Any news on the abrupt weather pop-in? Hoping with all my effort and heart that it's a bug and not a feature. Have not downloaded the beta, waiting for gold release so your answers to my question would be greatly appreciated. Rudi
