Recommendation a Joystick for MSFS
Waldo Pepper replied to David27's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
Logitech's USB throttle quadrant is around $60 USD in the US. I have one which I use for pitch/mixture/speed brakes. It also has 3 rocker switches on the bottom too. Good bang for the buck, works well. https://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Pro-Flight-Throttle-Quadrant/dp/B01M00UHE3 One good thing, you can use the rotaries in the NXT base as throttles until you get one. -

I don't own a gladiator so I can't answer with personal experience. I own a gunfighter. Here's what R/hotas shows, Looks like the Premium comes with 10lb and 30lb springs (guessing 20lb is default), the option to switch out the lower push button for a hat switch, and the top of the premium has an analog ministick with center push button instead of a hat switch. Oh, and it looks like the premium might have an additional trigger. At least I think that's what the trigger part is talking about, because my gunfighter has two triggers. Actually, a second trigger would be very useful for something like brakes if it has one. -

The most precise stick I've ever used is the VKB Gunfighter with their 200m extension. I'm using mine with 2 x 50lb springs in the pitch axis, and 2 x 50 lb springs in the roll axis. I've operated cranes for 30+ years and it's as smooth and precise as any professional gimble I've ever used during my career. -

Just to clarify, the Gunfighter MKIII is the expensive one, the NXT is only $120 in my country. Just wanted to make sure you didn't mistake the two. -

Imo, the VKB Gladiator offers excellent precision per dollar. And you can install different springs to change the feel. They also have different side panels you can purchase. Most of it is in stock on their site right now tool. VKB is on the hobbyist end of the spectrum. They expect people to open up their sticks, and don't mind showing them how. https://vkbcontrollers.com/?product_cat=gladiator-nxt-series I've owned a VKB Gunfighter MKIII for 2 years now, and I've installed 2 50 lb springs in each axis (4 springs total), and I'm using their 200mm stick extension. Very high quality, solid gear. Extremely precise. -
New FS2020 Google Maps MOD for the entire world
Waldo Pepper replied to HiFlyer's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
This looks very cool. Instinct tells me it's only a matter of time until Google throws a chock under someone's terms of service parade, though. /On a side note. I wonder if Austin, the dev of X-Plane, has ever approached Google for a partnership. -
So if I understand this correctly, AIG requires you to set msfs air traffic to "AI traffic" instead of "Live Traffic", and it's users will not see other fellow human pilots as a result. AS on the other hand,, will just reskin the default ai traffic, and msfs traffic can remain set to live traffic. I like the variety AIG offers, but I don't want to give up seeing other human pilots. I guess AS will have to suffice for people like me.

The free GOTY edition is just around the corner
Waldo Pepper replied to raymar's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
If I'm flying it's either a multi-player flight, or I'm doing a mission in NeoFly. The Porter is perfect for jobs like cargo hauling, passengers, or doing SAR and Emergency missions with or without floats. I too find the concept of a cub with a nose wheel interesting. But NeoFly also has intercept missions, so I just might find the F18 useful even if I'm not really interested in fighters being in msfs. The Velocopter doesn't interest me, but keeping an open mind it's a real aircraft design, it seems to be efficient (no need for a tail rotor), safe, convenient, and comparatively quieter for the application its designed for. They will be used for the Paris Olympics. Seems like a logical progression to me. -

I for one cannot wait to park my 208b for a few months, and step into the cockpit of the new GOTY Porter. That Porter is gonna be a workhorse in my NeoFly career. Fairly certain that floats will make it the longest range float plane in the sim. -

This is a community flight I put together a few weeks ago. It will take you past 2 observatories, and the Matterhorn. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1v0QuckZK3c9TYlsTuOUlY65X_leCT7Sn/view?usp=sharing IF you have Henricks shipping mod, look out for the Paddle Steamers on Lac Lucerne. Also recommended is Project Lifts:Europe. It adds all the ski lifts and cable cars in EU. https://flightsim.to/file/14840/project-litfts-europe The scenery is BEAUTIFUL. Breathtaking glaciers. The landings will be challenging, expect to land on many, many, dams. Caravan or Porter recommended for their combo of stol performance and high alt perf.

I don't have freesync enabled, but Gsync is enabled and works well. Not seeing any flicker. One consideration though, there is a difference between Gsync and Gsync Compatible. The CX is a "Gsync Compatible" display. It has a Gsync range of 40hz to 120hz @ 4K. All native Gsync displays have a hardware gsync module, and they can gsync from 1hz to the refresh rate limit of the display. So basically, on a CX "Gsync" doesn't work below 40 fps. Maybe that's a factor.

The Arrow III / IV bundle was $44 in the marketplace. Super nice aircraft. I'll probably spend most of the time in the IV, but I thought it was a decent deal. Looks super nice with the Gulf skins. https://flightsim.to/file/22877/justflight-piper-p28r-arrow-iv-gulf-worldtour-vintage https://flightsim.to/file/22855/justflight-piper-p28r-turbo-arrow-iii-gulf-worldtour-vintage

Aircraft POH location
Waldo Pepper replied to Stratocruiser1's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
Manuals tend to be in the adobe PDF file format. Open windows explorer and search for your computer for the ".pdf" file extension. As far as I'm aware, there are no manuals provided for Asobo aircraft. I think most of us have downloaded the real world aircraft POH. -
Thought I'd post this incase anyone cares. I'm running a 48" CX as a desktop monitor, with a 3090 gpu. Calibrating monitors and tv's is relatively expensive, mostly because it requires specialized hardware and software that most people will never buy. I don't own any calibration equipment. My "go-to" source for display reviews is Rtings. They posted a review of the 48" CX specifically as a desktop monitor. In that review they posted an ICC color calibration file for their 48 CX. Now, each panel is different and no two are the same. But I decided to try their profile anyway, and I'm really happy with the results. https://www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/lg/48-cx-oled (The ICC profile is halfway down on the right, under "Post Calibration". https://www.rtings.com/assets/pages/e64DtyqB/rtings-icc-profile.icm) In the CX settings remember to, Rename the CX's HDMI input which you are using to "PC" in the LG Dashboard. Enable the "Game" HDR picture mode. Rtings calibrated in this mode. I would reset the picture mode before proceeding. Enable HDMI Deep Color for your HDMI input. (picture / additional settings) Set Dynamic Tone Mapping to HGIG Set Black Level to HIGH. In NVIDIA options, Select "Use Nvidia Color Settings". Color Depth 32 Bit Output Color Depth 10bpc Color Format RGB Output Dynamic Range Full (High Black level and Full dynamic range are related settings) Then I just typed "Color Management" into the windows start menu search box and set the Rtings profile as default. In MSFS I set HDR10 to enabled. Your mileage may vary, but I like what I'm seeing. Good luck.

Did I miss something the last 6 months?

A2A has been modeling several variants of the aircraft in the upcoming goty edition. Mustangs, I believe. It was mentioned in an Asobo talk. -
