August 4, 200817 yr Thats fantastic ... There will be some serious jams on the servers when this puppy is released !And all because of PMDG's top quality products is the reason I will be one of the people cursing and swearing on release day when we are all trying to purchase the MD11 ;o)All I need now is the 737NG for FSX to be completed and I will have the set once again ;o)It's the quality and perfection with effort and skill PMDG put into their programming for MS flight sims that makes them the perfect choice and positive feeling when purchasing products for your simming experiences that makes them the best on the market !You just know the MD11 is gonna be a great add-on before you even try it out would'nt you agree ???A very anxious and extremely happy previous customer of all PMDG products ...Gary B. August 5, 200817 yr Thanks for sharing this great news!!!"Will we allow the beta testers to post images and notes here in the forum for you to read: Most likely, yes."Question: Will the beta team be allowed to post videos on youtube?? Cant wait to get her (FS9 version) hopefull for a 2008 release. :-jumpy Golli.
August 5, 200817 yr This is great news indeed! I've been watching this forum like a hawk for the past year waiting to hear when the product would go beta. I'm absolutely dying to get my hands on the MD-11. As the son of a World MD-11 captain, this is going to be quite the thing to have. I can't wait!
August 5, 200817 yr Commercial Member Congrats Bill, Michael, Robert (and even Vic ;) ). I saw the product in Seattle, and am sure it will be a huge success... Since the Level-D 767 was mentioned in this thread, I felt it was necessary to chime in with a rebuttal...>I hope there won't be a lot of differences between the FSX and>FS9 versions regarding systems and functionality(like in>another 767).The Level-D 767 for FSX is NOT a new version, but an UPGRADE of the 767 for FS9. At any rate, since Level-D is no longer producing products for FS9, it is a moot point. As Robert stated in the initial post: "This is due in part to the inferior capabilities of FS9, and the need to build new, or in some cases, re-engineer aspects of the product that will be specific to FS9. (In effect, this is really like building 1.75 products because the versions are so different.)"Why do you think it takes so long to develop a product for BOTH platforms?Daryl ShuttleworthLevel-D SimulationsSupport & Documentation The SUPPORT FORUM for Level-D Simulations products: http://www.leveldsim.com/forums
August 5, 200817 yr Commercial Member Captains-I thought you all might be interested to know that the PMDG MD-11 for FSX went into BETA testing overnight!Over the next few days, we will share with you some of the feedback and trend information that we are getting from the testing team. We have a few larger "cleanup" and "polish" items left to accomplish on the airplane, but from a development standpoint the project is nearly completed. For those who are interested, the PMDG MD-11 is (in my opinion) in a better overall product quality state than any product we have yet produced. This is due in large part to the care and attention the product has received during development. In the past, our BETA testing process has taken anywhere from two to nine months. I anticipate that this will not be a lengthy BETA period, as this product was subjected to extensive ALPHA testing throughout the course of it's development. To answer a couple of anticipated questions:When will we release?: We will not project at this point, as we want to focus on product completion without setting artificial timelines for development. How is the FS9 version going?: The FS9 version is behind the FSX version. This is due in part to the inferior capabilities of FS9, and the need to build new, or in some cases, re-engineer aspects of the product that will be specific to FS9. (In effect, this is really like building 1.75 products because the versions are so different.) Our goal currently is that the FS9 version should be released within sixty days of the FSX version barring any technical hurdles that we haven't yet cracked our kneecaps on. If we don't hit any further hurdles, we are hoping to keep the FS9 release as close to the FSX release as possible- as in: within weeks. (No promises)What will pricing be?: We anticipate pricing will be in line with our current product offerings. No surprises here. We will be treating the FSX and FS9 versions as two different products, but we will offer a SIGNIFICANT price break for anyone who wants to own versions in both FSX and FS9. (Details to be announced...)Will you be able to obtain the manuals prior to release: Yes.Will we allow the beta testers to post images and notes here in the forum for you to read: Most likely, yes.Do we need any more beta testers?: No, but thank you for offering. :-)We will post more information for you during the coming days. Start getting excited- the MD-11 is almost here! Robert S. Randazzo PLEASE NOTE THAT PMDG HAS DEPARTED AVSIM You can find us at: http://forum.pmdg.com
August 5, 200817 yr Commercial Member Daryl, Great to see you poking your head in between sessions with Tina and Bet.Daryl is right, from the visual model to the systems coding, right down to the FX files, just about everything needs to be reworked, and often completely redone to work in both simulators. It is no simple task, and it is extremely time consuming. It is such a daunting task that internally we debated for some time whether or not to just drop FS9 altogether, but it soon became apparent that FS9, at least for now, is here to stay.Best,Vin ScimonePMDGwww.precisionmanuals.comhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/for..._md11_click.jpg Vin Scimone Precision Manuals Development Group www.precisionmanuals.com
August 5, 200817 yr Thanks Ryan,Just one last question related to this... if I wait for the FS9 version to release, is there a chance then that there will be a 2 sim/1 package version to buy?I'm not looking for discounts... just a 1 purchase option that gets me both versions. It's hard enough explaining this "hobby" to non simmers.... Just out of curiosity.. do other people have issues with this...? My wife, at a party or whereever will introduce me and then go on to say I spend a good portion of my time "pretending to be a pilot"... I then spend time justifying the "reality" of it all.....Paul
August 5, 200817 yr Commercial Member >Daryl, Great to see you poking your head in between sessions>with Tina and Bet.They don't "swing" that way, Vic. At least NOT in the make believe world of Cable-TV... ;)I'm too old and smart for them anyway.Daryl ShuttleworthLevel-D SimulationsSupport & Documentation The SUPPORT FORUM for Level-D Simulations products: http://www.leveldsim.com/forums
August 6, 200817 yr Commercial Member Performance is already quite a bit better than the 400X and it will probably only get better as stuff is further optimized. I think people will be pleasantly surprised with the framerates given the complexity of the simulation. Ryan MaziarzFor fastest support, please submit a ticket at http://support.precisionmanuals.com
August 6, 200817 yr Commercial Member Paul-This will depend largely on how closely we can get the two releases.Right now- it is hard to say. Ask me again in three weeks. ;-)(Wife Acceptance Factor... priceless, paul! Priceless!) Robert S. Randazzo PLEASE NOTE THAT PMDG HAS DEPARTED AVSIM You can find us at: http://forum.pmdg.com
August 6, 200817 yr Very good news!!I shall look for forward to finally having a closer look at the MD, it has been sooooooo long coming, hopefully it'll be worthwhile!Slightly off topic, in the cruise the other day I was having a 'play around' and i noticed on our newer aircraft (737-800) with 2 FMC's when you press the CTR button twice a vertical profile appears, it is quite impressive, it depicts the high terrain, just wondered if you'll be modelling it in the 737NGX. If you guys want a picture of what i mean i'll take one when i return to the office on Sunday:-)All the best,James
