On balance guys, I think this move by PMDG will go down in FS collective memory on the same page as PSS' charging for individual repaints and Captainsim's "Block" purchasing system.All very asinine methods of making more money out of the customer, and all extremely damaging to the developer's reputation.

If that works, it would certainly send a clear message that we're fed up. However, they'll probably post a disclaimer on the purchase page that clearly outlines their policy and would negate your ability to dispute the charge. They seem to be oblivious to their customers.Regards,Jim Karn

I cannot for the life of me understand why companies like this don't stand up and face the customers with a "Hey, sorry guys, let us explain and we'll work this out." Then everyone is happy. Instead, they get a "We're right, you're wrong, now shut up and send us the money" attitude.If the end goal is profit, why on earth make those you want to profit from angry and distrustful? Both customer support people are based in the USA. 7 out of 10 developers or members of PMDG are in the USA. I feel deception and greed. Deleting the posts in their forum adds to this feeling. Comparing this to Aerosoft isn't the same. The Aerosoft GmbH(Ltd) was founded in 1991 at Paderborn/Lippstadt Airport, Germany not by Robert Randazzo in the good ole USA. So they are European and can charge in Euro's PMDG is founded in the USA so should charge American dollars period. I won't purchase from PMDG not just because of this but the MD-11 has been worked on for years thru 3 different versions of FS and still isn't here. It was to be freeware from Bill Grabowski before PMDG bought him. Top it off how can a add on developer charge more for their product than MS for FS? Good luck PMDG with your poor business decisions.

Wow. My first add on was the PMDG 737, I have every aircraft they make aside from the B1900D. Sadly I have to agree with the sentiment of most of the guys here. I wont ever, under any circumstances purchase another PMDG product again.

L.Adamson" It's not about the product and it's not even about the price. It's about clarity in prices and attitude towards paying customers. Especially in a pirate soaked environment, why annoy the honest guys who pay?

Paul-with all due respect - raising prices on already available prices is a long standing practice. Just look at what Enrico Schiratti does, every couple years. Just wanted to mention that - I'll go back to actually doing WORK now. ;-)

But if it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck...Then, to tell us that it's a business decision and our reactions do not matter and will not be accepted or considered in the PMDG kingdom...well that's some pretty damaging customer relations they have going on there. If a company expects to keep, or attract new "talent", considering the "bar" (level of fidelity) is "always" expected to keep going up.............then price increases will just have to follow. It's a fact of life!I'm blown away and dismayed by much of the attitude I see in this thread, as well as many other "lynching mob" threads related to 3rd party developers. Wouldn't be surprised if many of the best developers just say forget it, it's not worth the trouble...L.Adamson

By that token the amount of times people have stated developers will just throw in their chips because people balk at their business practices is silly. Theyll either prove the people in this thread wrong or balk and rethink their decision. No lynching just free market at work, amazing.

It's interesting to read here the company that is usally regarded as "Gawd" among developers is getting such a wake up call among it's many fans. Can you imagine the uproar in the USA if gasoline was raised by 35% in one swoop!? (The oil companies do this but just a few pennies a week - wait for the $4.00/gallon this summer)But PMDG is a business. Not a group of hobbyists just trying to hold thier own (but maybe it was that way in the beginning I suspect). PMDG raised their prices pure and simple. Every company does. Look at Fly Tampa. Good company. They raised thier standard price of $21.00 to something like $33.00? Isn't that a price jump of nearly 30%? (Yes, we could debate they have include three airports instead of one, etc., but I think you know what I mean). What I think is what got them in hot water is how much they raised it and now how they try to cover it up with excuses, double-speak, to their customers. To loyal fans/supporter they take it personally perhaps.In the end it's up to you, the consumer, as to whether you feel you are getting good value for the purchase price. For me, I always thought they were expensive but of high quality... now I think they are just overpriced despite my income level.
