Yes. It's an excellent addition to FSX, even in spite of a few minor glitches.Al

I just confirm It's an excellent Plane.And a must for all dc-9 lovers.DIE HARD DIESEL 9

Then I wil buy it once I have money. I don't have a DC9 yet, and this one seems to be good. I have always loved the old aircraft. Boeing 707 and onwards is what I love. Keep it simple, yet not too simple. I generally dislike flying a Boeing 747-400 because it does everything for you. I'd much rather take a nice Boeing 747-200 into the air.Anyway, glad this plane is good. If I'm happy with it, I might get their MD-11 too. The PMDG MD-11 is too expensive for me, given the fact that I'm not that fond of that aircraft.

I don't think you'll be disappointed with the SS DC-9. For me it is one of those add-ons which is pitched just right in terms of complexity. I've flown my &@($* off in that thing even prior to the service pack update.I can appreciate things like the LDS 767 and the PMDG 747, but sometimes I don't want to go to that level of automation, and prefer an old steam cockpit. It makes a good stablemate to the Super MD-80 too, so you can enjoy both ways to fly with that bird, depending on how the mood takes you as far as technology goes. Personally I think it's destined to be regarded as one of the standout add-ons this year.Al

As an LSH Maddog flyer - I have a few questions for someone who has flown both aircraft. Is this aircraft as sophisticated as the Maddog; What are the differences (apart from the older technologies used) i.e. is there a FDR/CVR system? Will it allow a flex take-off? Can the take-off be rejected? Does the autobrake work? Is it necessary to use r/w procedures to get the engines lit? What are the dependencies for spoiler arming on the ground and in flight? How does it compare to the Maddog?

I highly doubt any of that is modeled, except maybe rejected takeoff. It's basically like flying a default aircraft with nicer graphics

Hello Skysimulations have modeled the EPR/RAT gauge, See this explanation on Mr hilmerbys sitehttp://www.hilmerby.com/dc9/eprrat.htmlFlight controls , brakes ect wont work without the Hydraulics being on.Most of the overhead is clickable and working , APU ect.It has a ground power and Air system that you can call up via a 2D popup.Pushback and ground servicing ect.Sperry Autopilot is now fully modeled in the recent SP1 with the inclusion of the Turn Knob. Not in the same level of detail as the MadDog but what is ?But a lot more going on than the default aircraft, but as an older airframe than the MD-80 the systems are going to be lesscomplex.

OK, MD. I'm still on the fence 'till she's sorted out, then. Many thanks.

I'm considering purchasing it for FS9....Does it have the option to use Lbs or Kgs for fuel guages or MB or IN for the ldg baro ?just wondering....Greg

Just curious to know if anyone has found a way to fix the autopilot altitude hold deviations and the high stall speeds in landing configuration?

Anthony Cacciatore

It doesn't need fixing because it isn't broken, the DC-9 has a Sperry SP-50 autopilot, which doesn't actually have an altitude hold function, you have to set the altitude alerter on the panel, manually drive it to that altitude and when the alerter sounds as you near that altitude, that's your cue to start adjusting its vertical speed so that it stays where you want it when it gets to the desired altitude. The DC-8, B707, B727, Comet, Caravelle and many other aircraft of that era are the same, and it stayed that way until about 1984 when FMCs and autothrottles became common. If you want a 'DC-9' which will do that sort of thing, you'll be looking at the later derivatives such as the MD-80, MD-95 and B717.I've not noticed the high speed stall happening on mine, seems okay to me, but I could just be lucky in that.Al
