August 11, 200916 yr By week's end, I should be loading addons into my new computer that was built by Jetline, and should be delivered on Thursday, August 13. I own practically all the addon eye candy, but I want to add ONLY the necessary addons and avoid redundancy. I don't mind keeping something on the shelf if it truly isn't necessary. My computer will be delivered with FSX and Acceleration already installed and tested. My job will be to start adding the programs that really make the sim come alive. Please tell me if you would add ALL of the following programs or keep some of them out:1. FS Genesis East, West, Rockies, Plains, Alaska, Mexico2. GEX3. FEX4. REX5. UTXI always appreciate your input on this forum. Thanks, I'm really looking forward to getting back in that left seat.Stanps. If you have any suggestions for an addon I didn't list, please share your advice.

August 11, 200916 yr I would leave out FEX since you already have REX.I will install both!!And the Orbx products + Megascenery Hawaii.I wish you a lot of fun with your new rig Stan! - PC Hardware: AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D // Asus ROG Crosshair X870E HERO // 2x32Gb Corsair Dominator Titanium DDR5 6000MT/s CL30 // ASUS ROG Strix GeForce RTX 4090 OC Edition // 4Tb Corsair NVMe M.2 MP600 // Corsair 1600W PSU Samsung Odyssey Arc 55" curved 165 Hz monitor. - Simulator Hardware: VIRPIL Constellation Alpha Prime + VIRPIL VPC Universal Control Panel - #3 + MOZA AY210 Force Feedback Yoke + WINWING URSA MINOR 32 Throttle & PAC Metal + WINWING SKYWALKER Metal Rudder Pedals + WINWING Airbus FCU & EFIS + WINWING Boeing 3N PAP + WINWING MCDU-32 + WINWING PFP-4 + WINWING PFP 3-N + WINWING PFP-7.
August 11, 200916 yr If you are not a techi, and prefer more flying and less twicking, just follow the other guy's advice and buy only REX, and leave out FEX. REX does what FEX does and then some. That way no redundancy, and less addons for you to worry about.I prefer to get by on as few addons as possible, just in case i ever have to reinstall. My advice is ASA and REX2.0.ASA weather and REX textures. The new REX weather 2.0 is just as crap as 1.0, compared to ASA.Plus the installation of REX2.0 has completly messed up my FSX install so i have to start from fresh FSX install, think ill wait a few months before i get round to that.My advice, make sure to install the REX2.0 patch before you run REX or FSX. Else its back to FSX disc for you. Better still get REX 1.0. Its more reliable.By the way i am not a sales man for ASA or any other product, just a fellow simmer like you. Its a point worth mentioning, and remembering on this forum.
August 11, 200916 yr I will install both!!Why does he need FEX if he has REX? Especially since REX has more features such as a weather engine, airport/runway textures etc. Additionally REX was recently updated to version 2.edit: ASA (if you prefer this weather engine over REX) and FTX are excellent too! So there's some more addons to purchase/install.edit2: "World Of AI" is really good for AI traffic and free too! Hundreds of airlines and great low fps AI models. http://www.world-of-ai.com/ Matthew S
August 11, 200916 yr I'm disappointed. I thought someone was offering a product that would improve my sanity. I had my credit card out already.

You won't be disappointed.Mitch
August 11, 200916 yr Author Thanks everyone. As always, good advice. Forgot to mention that I also have ASA....but from what I've been reading, it seems that REX has a good weather engine now. I was wondering if ASA would still be necessary if REX has it all.I also have Megascenery Hawaii (You're right...a must!), and Megascenery New York (brought my old system to stutters). I wasn't sure about FS Genesis...and whether it really mattered when UTX and GEX were present.Stan

August 11, 200916 yr Consider also traffic addons such as MyTraffic and/or Ultimate Traffic 2. https://www.youtube.com/user/JustaRandomSimmer Simulator Videos http://sierra-hotel.blogspot.com Aviation Picture Blog

Hundreds of airlines and great low fps AI models. http://www.world-of-ai.com/ I'm one of the people that likes the REX textures but prefers the FEX clouds, so I use both - FEX for clouds and REX for everything else.I also like the ASA weather engine better than the REX one - so it's REX/FEX for textures and ASA for weather generation.Sounds complex but there's not a lot of tweaking required - just install the FEX cloud textures, the REX remaining textures (check everything but clouds), and ASA. Then run ASA, followed by FSX, and go fly.Alan Alan Ampolsk"Ah, Paula, they are firing at me!"-- Saint-Exupery
