October 22, 200916 yr Sounds like the go! (now rebranded as go!Mokulele) overflight at ITO. I guess when they aren't landing on taxiways they miss the airport altogether!scott s..
October 22, 200916 yr Yeah, Delta did have a plane land on taxiway M at KATL. According to this article from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution there was a medical emergency declared just before landing. Both the pilot and copilot have been suspended pending the outcome of an investigation. Supporter GhostRecon.net | AGgReSsion WhiteKnight77's Place Mike Shannon
October 23, 200916 yr I just heard about this today. The investigation from what I heard is pointing to pilot fatigue (the pilots were asleep behind the yoke, literally). I find that hard to believe so I will be following this story. The FAA and Pilot's union are pushing for pilots to be able to have one pilot monitor systems while another pilot sleeps on long haul flights. I always thought there were two crews that took turns on excessively long flights. It's impossible for one crew to stay alert on routes that many 777 and proposed 787's fly or will fly. I personally see no problem with one pilot watching over everything while the other gets a nap on long flights...Concerning this particular flight, KSAN to KMSP is not an excessively long flight. October 23, 200916 yr Now that looks like a bad Flight Simulator flight... I could see my self catching something on the news totally forgetting about a flight I'm running in FS and this being the outcome. This is something one would never expect to see in the real world especially on a flight from KSAN to KMSP (I could see if the flight was coming from RJAA). No one should need a nap (if that was the case) coming from San Diego. Heck this wasn't even a regional airline when they work pilots to death for little over $20,000 a year. There's been some crazy mishaps on Northwest's part in the last few years thankfully none of the incidents were fatal. You had that flight to KSLT where the pilots mistakenly landed at a nearby military field, then there's the time a DC9 had to land at a small GA airfield because KDFW had him in a holding pattern in which the pilot didn't think to keep tabs on his remaining fuel, last but not least the disgruntled flight attendant that was force to report to work to fly from KMSP to Bismark ND in which he decided in retaliation to set the rear bathroom on fire. Some of this stuff you can't make up... FS2020 Alienware Aurora R11 10th Gen Intel Core i7 10700F - Windows 11 Home 32GB Ram NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super OC 16GB - Pimax Crystal Light VR

October 23, 200916 yr I hear the pilots are saying they were having a heated conversation about policy. Like arguing about how the pilot seniority lists were merged.scott s..

October 23, 200916 yr Now that looks like a bad Flight Simulator flight...Clearly all commercial planes should be fitted with a "pause at top of descent" feature. :(Colin

The length really doesn't matter plus when you are sleeping in hotels and on the road 3 to 4 days of the week it can get really tiresome.http://aviationblog.dallasnews.com/archive...o-to-sleep.html Chris Miller

Normally trans Atlantic/Pacific flights are required to use these. For instance 16 hours of flight time require 4 total flight crew. The original crew leaves the deck after 2-3 hours, sleeps for 10, then returns to for the final phase. Domestic does not need these since two crew can max flight time of 10 hours. The bigger issue is the airlines attempting to stretch every hour out of pilots and frankly it is hurting the industry.Regardless if it was fatigue or a heated debate both should lose their jobs.
October 23, 200916 yr The bigger issue is the airlines attempting to stretch every hour out of pilots and frankly it is hurting the industry.Regardless if it was fatigue or a heated debate both should lose their jobs.If the main issue here is Airlines mis-handling pilot schedules why should the pilots loose their jobs?I would more so think an investigation is in order in how Airlines are not only handling staff but also equipment.Considering things like 'Passenger Bill of Rights' and the ever present reality of the high hour low pay commuter operations, a new way of doing things in the Airline industry is in order and things like this spotlight it. Scully who landed his A320 in the Hudson is on record stating the abysmal handling of staff who work for US Airlines. At the time of the incident both men weren't in complete official uniform as a protest of the conditions at US Airways. When incidents likethis happen we want to run ditch the lowest man in the pecking order. When you consider Delta is now in the lofty standing of 'too big to fail' they need to be held accountable all around as their in a position to basically do whatever they want when they want and charge what they want...
