no problem. I like it too because I really prefer early and late day flying in which those settings fix the lousy light issuesMake sure you have the GEX Europe 101 update installed. The settings were made based on that 700MB update being applied... If you have not installed it, click the Updates button in the interface and follow the directions at the top of the GEX forum.
Yeah, I still haven't downloaded and installed the 101 update. After I install that does that mean that we can rerun the GEX USA again if I have to, or is there still another patch on the way for that? If I remember right, I think I read somewhere that you cant rerun USA after you have run Europe since it may overwrite some textures, but that there was a patch coming for that.

I was reading an old thread over at ORBX and someone mentioned that this tweak only works with single monitors. I am running two monitors. The second one is just for dragging pop-ups to, atc... It is usually black most of the flight.Does this make a difference and if so, is there a workaround or is my only hope changing drivers?

USCAN must be patched before you can install from the USCAN interface after Europe goes in.. should be available right around the 1st. 95% of that patch was installed with Europe.

What I know about MM and that mod is that it is known to work with MM and TH2Go on some systems and some it does not. I do not run MM but have seen people with dual monitor and triple monitor setups post images using that mod. Not to say they were not having any perf issues because there is no such thing as a free lunch when it comes to rendering. There are calculations taking place in real time so with expanded screen resolutions and more monitors involved I can see a perf hit. Its probably easy enough to disconnect one of your monitors, reset and run a single configuration to check. If the problem is still there then the MM question in your case would not be the answer. If it works then the issue is specific to MM.Its after 11pm here and I have to get some shuteye.. goodnight

One other thing you can try concerning the night display while using this mod...disable the aircraft's "reflection.dds" file in the aircraft's texture folder. That is the file that puts the reflection on the cockpit window from Cockpit or Virtual Cockpit view. I noticed a long time ago that the outside world looks very different lighting-wise with many aircraft depending on if you are viewing the outside from inside or outside the airplane. The default Beech Baron really darkens up the outside world when viewed from inside the cockpit...it's like you have tinted windows. When I first used Nick's settings for the bloom mod, I could hardly see anything outside at night. Then I disabled the Baron's "reflection.dds" file, and it made a large difference. THEN I adjusted the night settings in the bloom mod. With the bloom mod during the day now, I don't even WANT the cockpit window reflections anymore.

I can confirm after checking this on my system the mod didn't work with a dual monitor setup. I actually tried the mod again and had black lines as before so I followed Nick's advice on changes to the ini file. It didn't fix the black lines...I then saw the message about the dual monitor problem and disconnected my 2nd monitor. After this the mod worked as advertised. I then changed all the settings in the ini back to Nick's default and it still worked fine without the black lines. Haven't had a chance to fly much with it yet but just wanted to confirm that yes it does appear that if you have 2 monitors you'll have to give that up to use this successfully.Brandon

I am running two monitors also so that explains it.

Hi Brandon,Is this an issue with two monitors that have an extended desktop regardless of what is on both monitors, or only when FSX is displayed over the 2 monitors? Thanks, Bruce.

At first I just tried unchecking the box to extend the desktop but that didn't work. I had to unchecked it and physically unplug the monitor from the video card so it probably not going to work unless you have only one monitor plugged in.Brandon

Like Nick said, it appears to be system specific...maybe a driver issue, etc. I have three 19" monitors for my TH2G running off one port of my GTX280, and a fourth 22" monitor running off the second port. I have my Vista desktop extended across all four monitors, and the light bloom mod works perfectly with FSX in windowed mode on my three 19"-ers. I can undock an FSX window from the three 19"-ers, drag it to the 22", and the bloom still works fine.

I should have been more specific I guess but it did work for me in windowed mode but full screen it did not until I went to just one monitor. As with everything else that involves FSX it probably is system specific though.Brandon

I couldn't get it to work with a multi-monitor system as well. I also got the black bars on the main monitor, and the 2 secondary monitors with gauges displayed on them, turned very dark making the gauges imposible to read.Bill

I have been hearing and reading various tidbits regard that ENBseries HDR Bloom dll, and while I am not one to tinker with things I don't know much about I came across a thread over at simforums written by NickN, who explains the mod and has a list of the settings he uses. At first I was not sure if I wanted to install this because I have a pretty clean install of FSX and am not currently having any problems, however when I saw that all you have to do is drop the dll and the ini file into the main FSX folder, I though I would give it a go.Downloaded the pack with the link NickN provides, copied his settings into the ini and fired up FSX. What a difference it has made and on my rig, not any performance loss at all. The best part however is that night flying is now more like actual night flying. With Nicks settings night was actuall a tad to dark for me, so I lowered his DarkeningAmountNight=35 to DarkeningAmountNight=30, and it is just right, imho.On a moonless night there is no more visible horizon like before and the airports dont stick out so easily. In fact, when you are landing at night on a runway with no center line lights, it actually looks like you are flying into a black hole in the ground. Reminded me of the first night lessons I took with an instructor years ago.I noticed that with night being so much darker, when you are flying away from a city and there are not many lights on the ground it is quite easy to become disoriented since the horizon is not visible. The day time looks really good as well, but I am more sold on the night time. Best free mod I have used in a while, plus you can easily turn it on and off at will using the Shift + F12 key, and if you need to uninstall you just delete the ini and dll file and your done.If you haven't had a chance to give it a shot its worth a try. Nicks settings are posted here: http://www.simforums.com/forums/forum_posts.asp?TID=32482
Alright your post made me have to try this out and see what this is all about. Nice effect it gives and a bit more of a real look to the sim. Very easy to set up and configure (thanks Nick) and easy to turn on and off. Everything works fine on my system. Gona do a few flights day and night and see how it looks. Thanks for the post on this mod!

Don't forget from the top of the post the setting Nick had for DarkeningAmountNight=35 may be too dark for you at night. I changed mine to DarkeningAmountNight=30 and I may even try 25, but 30 seems to look about right. It's has really transformed the look of the sim for me.Yesterday moring I was testing out the Capt Sim 727 I got on sale the other day at Miami Intl with real world weather loaded at 7:45 am. It was really cloudy and with bloom turned on the ground was a little darker like it would be on a cloudy morning it looked really good, almost real. I am really impressed by the look the mod gives. Night time is really great to since the sky isn't so bright and the horizon isn't as visible.

Anyone have any theories why it doesn't work with multiple monitors or possible workarounds. I'd like to use it but I'm not sure it is work ditching my second monitor.
