J41 - EXTREMELY dissatisfied!

Featured Replies

I've recently purchased this product and was shocked! Not sure how this kind of thing cancost so much! Just to prove:Is this really the way the passenger cabin should look at $45 payware product? Are the two shots below from MSFS 2000?? Nope. They are from J41 in FSX!Why there are no icing effects on side windows? Not realistic, although realism was promised. These are just randoms. Wish I did not purchase this :(Your former customer,Jason Smith

Sorry to burst your bubble but this isn't a passenger simulator but a "Flight" Simulator. I do agree that the side windows are not icing over which is weird I hope it comes up in a future update. By the way, the poor quality textures in the cabin is to save FPS. Its FPS or Quality and majority want FPS.Taylor Oldham

Jason,In order to do all the things PMDG did that involve the actual operation of the airplane (which is focused in the cockpit), they made the decision to exclude the passenger compartment from the VC -- this improves frame rates, and explains the parts not shown in your first picture. The other two "interior" shots are actually "exterior model" shots, showing close-ups of the low-rez interior textures. Again, the low resolution here improves frame rates. You're not supposed to be "inside" here, these textures were designed to be seen from the outside, so that the view through the passenger windows from outside wouldn't make the passenger compartment look sterile and empty.I don't know how much ice will build up on the side windows in flight, which is what the icing feature is coded for. Next time you take a commercial flight in icing conditions, look at the window near your seat and see if you can see any ice adhering to the window while in flight. Along the sides of the airframe, ice generally doesn't build up because of the slipstream...you see ice build up on leading edges of wings, stabilizers, intakes, propeller blades, nose cones, spinners, and windscreens because the airflow over them is different from that over the surfaces that are parallel to the airflow.Sorry you're not happy with your purchase.

Yeah,The windscreen ice simulation is really only supposed to represent conditions in flight. In flight, ice does not accrete on the side "clear view" windows. The only time you'd ever see ice there is after prolonged flight in SLD icing conditions, which by definition, is severe icing. So, the way it is modeled is completely realistic. Why model icing to represent the way it looks at 0ft and 0kt? The correct answer is : you don't.The cabin "issue" has already been covered by others, but I can't resist... What you see in the cabin is not meant to be viewed from close up. It's only there so when you look at the windows in Spot View, there's something there. If all you can focus on are these trivial issues you mentioned, then you're right, you never should have bought it...because clearly you're incapable of appreciating the depth of the systems modeling, the uncanny accuracy, and ultra realistic "look and feel" compared to the real J41 cockpit. It does 95% of what the real airplane does, looks just like it, and sounds just like it. Be glad it doesn't SMELL just like it.Try perusing the powerplant, avionics, and FMS sections of the Systems Manual, then come back and complain about what you're getting for $45.

Actually, the ice that is on the leading edge of the wing is quite realistic (especially for fsx). If your windshield heat is on you wont get any ice on the heated part which is most of the window. You might see some on the wiper thpugh it seems that the ice simulated is "light" hence on the whole i think it is pretty good. This comment is made with a lot of years of doing it for a living. Agree, the interior sucks. Systems or else is not an excuse for the cheap graphics. It's a GAME, it got to LOOK nice first. Some ppl just don't care about fms and stuff.
Then use the default A/C and a bunch of addons for graphics.

Then why buy it? The OP should have done a little research before buying the J41, rather than buying it blind and then coming on here to complain about the lack of a virtual cabin that isn't advertised on the product page, IMO.

We are FlightSimmers- for us (and of course PMDG), FS is not a #GAME#- btw. the word #GAME# hurts a simmers heart... For a FlightSimmer, HD- Graphics are welcome but not - NOT the 1st (nore the 2nd) instance where we looking for!In respect- if you looking for superb graphics only, FS is the wrong choice for you, trust me.System deepness, technical things, real procedures and much other things from reality are the target for us- to difference between GAMEs and Simulators. Go and look for example the LevelD B-767, its for me- and very much other people out there one of the best Simulators today- Graphics?.. one of the worst for an Simulator like this- if you go deeper in the FS community, you will see what priorities the customers have....Software programmers can do a plane in 1 month and concentrate on graphics (like a playboygirl- if she

Hi cucunut, when say that you want a very nice passenger cab. I think realy hi is a little boy.... go ahead an bay a YOYO :( This jetstream 41 is possible the best in show bird at this moment, but it is only for the HD simmer and real pilots not for babys.
Let us not turn this thread into an insult fest please.

Yeah, I think it is time to lock it down. Not much of value here but opinions, much like bellybuttons we all have one.

Jason. If a virtual cabin were included with the product, this would probably be a picture of one, but since the product does not include a virtual cabin, nor was any such promise ever made or advertised, what you DO see are the propellers and wing tips outside the cockpit windows when you turn your head back. For some reason you pushed your camera behind the cockpit, so naturally, what you see is nothing.

What you are looking at in this picture is the inside of the external model, designed to be seen from a distance, through the windows. Why you moved your camera into that position is beyond me.
Why there are no icing effects on side windows? Not realistic, although realism was promised.post-185813-126453%38%3084.jpg
Side-Window Icing was initially included in the beta, until real-world pilots of the aircraft informed the modeller that no such icing ever accumulates on the side windows in the real world, so this icing was removed for realism.

Too bad for you, you are missing out on a lot. Might I suggest you try flying the airplane from the cockpit (I would try "VC View") rather than from the ceiling of the cabin inside of the external model in spot view?If that doesn't work out for you, may I suggest in the future that you spend your $45.00 on an actual airline ticket? (Coach is usually more affordable). I think you will be very comfortable back there. I feel the seats across from the lav might be most suitable for you.

Gents-Sign your posts....A few of you continual offenders are going to wind up getting locked out. Please don't force us to take that step. And to think I spent thousands of hours flying this airplane and never once saw icing on the side windows... <sniff>

The Westland Woodpigeon never got icing on the side windows either.BTW, I bought the J41 before I had even installed FSX. Seems pretty fine to me! Never understood this virtual cabin business anyway, I like to look out the windows at the front, you know? :( Cheers, Chris Dalgarno
