October 23, 201114 yr Petrsurf and Sumits81, hi, thanks for taking the time to respond. I have done what you [Petrsurf] suggested and it does stop the flickering but there is still a light blueish haze most of the time. I have checked every other possibility I can think of and it comes down to the icing. Remove this and it is OK but I notice it still defaults back to full icing effects next time. Frustrating on what is an otherwise superb aircraft. I think it will take a patch from PMDG to overcome it. If I keep completely shutting down the computer and re-starting, in time it will load unaffected, but it takes ages. It can't be your Track IT 5 or Ezdoc as I'm not running these at present. I do use REX but likewise I don't think its anything to do with these ad ons. I wonder if it may be to do with Orbx weather themes as I use most of Orbx's scenery and their weather themes, if not downloading real conditions. I'm not overclocked so Sumits81 suggestion of pulling this back a bit doesn't apply either. Probably boils down to FSX being an old system and also not made for HD either. I guess we just have to make the best of it and await a patch. Rob
October 25, 201114 yr Yeah I must say last time I couldn't get rid of it as well good think is if that happened only on load so I restart fsx and take down scenery radius to medium haven' had it since then , but I won't turn icing effect off that is why I bought that plane . I was looking over Internet for vc rain and icing effect and pmdg was only one came up . Since I have 747 8 I and no problem there I am very confidante pmdg team will fix it . Cheers petr
December 2, 201114 yr Hi,Just got the plane and I too have the issue. First flight. Unloaded FSX, restarted and it was gone. Then I set the sim time forward to dawn and it's back. This issue goes way back. What is going on? I read some of the posts here and there was a talk of an SP. PMDG, can you guys chime in here on this and at least give us an update on where you are going with this?RegardsRobert Ginni7 2600k, GTX 570 (285.66), 8gig Officially retired
January 3, 201214 yr Ok. I just saw this for the first time this morning. My visual disturbance is much like some others that have been reported. It is like a light way off on the horison that flashes and fills 1/2 the right then 1/2 the left of the screen. Only with the 3d virtual views. Doesn't occur with the 2d or outside spot view. Reminds me of the effect you sometimes see with a beacon at certain airports. Appears to come from exactly one spot way off in the distance, like a star. In fact that may be a great way to describe it. Like a pulsar. Flashes 2-3 times a second. Upper left quadrant, lower left quadrant, and around on a circle. Only on virtual cockpit view, Only with the PMDG jet4100. I have flown about 10 flights before without visual problems, but read about it on the forum here. It lasted my whole flight which I elected to finish. I was unable to make it go away during the flight. Tried everthing I could think of. Closed FS and rebooted and reloaded FS at a night time, dark time. Not there now. I hope I never see this again. If anything would be likely to induce a seizure this would be it. using FSX, Win 7-64, 5670 dual cards. Lee Stubblefield
January 3, 201214 yr I just got the J41 over the Christmas vacation. On my first attempt at the tutorial flight the flashing started. I noticed that the flashing only occurs in the VC view and it only started once I had taken off and climbed up towards the cruise altitude. (16000 feet)It was rather offputting to say the least. January 4, 201214 yr Tabs, on Apr 29 2010, 08:02 AM, said:We're issuing an SP2 for the J41 soon and I want to make sure we get this - we think we know what it is. Send me an email so that I have your address for sending something to once I have it from Vin. Coming up on the 2nd anniversary of Tabs' post.Glenn, funny thing I just tried the JS41 myself. I hadn't flown the JS4100 in quite a long time and I got "box" type flickering texture's once again and I cannot remember what I did to resolve the issue. I used the JS41 Config Mgr to change to "Normal Resolution Displays" and still had the 4 flashing boxes. While still in flight I accessed the "Aircraft Exterior Settings" and unchecked "Aircraft casts shadows on ground" and "Aircraft casts shadows on itself" returned to the sim and the flickering disappeared. I re-checked the 2 boxes, exited FSX and rebooted the computer and once back in the sim there wasn't any apparent flickering. Now how weird is that? January 4, 201214 yr That is weird, Robert, but the flickering for me is due to the icing option being turned on. I can have outside icing, but not VC icing. Nothing else cause the artifacts (flicker) for me, just that one icing option. I don't know the exact name at the moment and can't yet check, but sure you know what I mean. i9 10920x @ 4.8 ~ MSI Creator x299 ~ 256 Gb 3600 G.Skill Trident Z Royal ~ EVGA RTX 3090ti ~ Sim drive = M.2 2-TB ~ OS drive = M.2 is 512-gb ~ 5 other Samsung Pro/Evo mix SSD's ~ EVGA 1600w ~ Win 10 Pro Dan Prunier
January 4, 201214 yr Hey Dan, good to hear from you. Seems like the cause may be different for everyone I suppose. I am sure that PMDG has dealt with the the possible cause(s) as I have not read about any issues with the NGX. Let's hang in there and see if an SP is released one day. Have a good one bud. January 4, 201214 yr Same here Robert, long time no,,, see? :wink:The comment has been said long ago that they actually did fix the J41 flicker issue, but I don't remember much more on it. It was either that they said it was possible (since they did it), but not practical because of how much was involved. I didn't know they implemented icing on the NGX in the same way. Do you mean you can see the windshields ice up from in the VC? I own it, but other than painting haven't yet dove into it. i9 10920x @ 4.8 ~ MSI Creator x299 ~ 256 Gb 3600 G.Skill Trident Z Royal ~ EVGA RTX 3090ti ~ Sim drive = M.2 2-TB ~ OS drive = M.2 is 512-gb ~ 5 other Samsung Pro/Evo mix SSD's ~ EVGA 1600w ~ Win 10 Pro Dan Prunier
January 4, 201214 yr I tried with the ice option turned off.....no different. :( Glenn Ryzen 3700X, X570 Pro Wifi, 32GB 3600mhz RAM, Nvidia Titan Xp "Galactic Empire", RM750x PSU, H700 case, 2x NVMe M2 SSD, 1x SATA SSD
January 10, 201214 yr This is happening every flight with the J41 for me.Im going to submit a support ticket as clearly nobody from PMDG bothers with this forum. Glenn Ryzen 3700X, X570 Pro Wifi, 32GB 3600mhz RAM, Nvidia Titan Xp "Galactic Empire", RM750x PSU, H700 case, 2x NVMe M2 SSD, 1x SATA SSD

January 11, 201214 yr They have said SP2 is coming a long time ago, yet still nothing.AMEN to that...!! was suppose to be released after 737, but now these people are so tied up with 737NG support that I doubt we will ever see this SP2 ever.. these issues have been reported wayyyyyy almost 2 years ago already and still we have to fly with ICE conditions OFF otherwise the visual disturbance is so bad you cant fly the plane....!BAD BAD BAD support..!
