March 27, 201016 yr I too, have been flying for a looooong time, and have never landed at a class B airport. I even avoid C airspace landings, because you can literally spend nearly an hour of prop time, waitng in the air and taxiing in/out. I don't even like IFR flight-plans that transition those airpspaces.. because re-routing is common.
March 27, 201016 yr Without 100ll fuel available it is hard to be based there with a piston aircraft..Why? You can use 100/130. We don't use 100LL in Colombia as far as I remember.Funny though, we have one Class A airport in Colombia (Bogot Ed OcampoStaff ReviewerAVSIM Online[email protected]Fly DC Jets

March 28, 201016 yr Hi, briansommers and everyone.Yes, you can land at KLAX in a 182 etc., if your timing is right and you call, and tell / ask the Tower ahead of time, with a good reason. Be prepared to move along and do everything right. You can fly above KLAX in the SFR area, if you want. TV
March 28, 201016 yr The Op mentioned C182's etc. Airnav.com lists jet A as being the only fuel available at klax.I see. Thank you :( Ed OcampoStaff ReviewerAVSIM Online[email protected]Fly DC Jets
March 28, 201016 yr I guess that didn't build KHHR for nothing..The beauty of GA is that you have (at least in the US) multitude of options that will put you very close to whatever your final address may be. Around LAX you have: KHHR, KSMO, KBUR, KVNY, KEMT, KFUL, KTOA, KWHP, and I probably missed a couple. And frankly I would be as far from LAX as physically possible not to be further restricted by their airspace. Michael J.
March 28, 201016 yr Author I guess it is time to come clean :( I want to simulate a door to door on demand cargo air carrier and the following a/c I wanted to use is:C182, for low cost optionSR22 or COL400 for high speed optionC208, all around workhorseB1900C for those larger itemsand the kicker is I only like to fly with payware a/c and payware or very good freeware scenery ... so that leaves a lot outso KBUR is ok, there is a very good freeware version of that out..I can fly the C208/B1900C into KLAX.. or just call my "driver" and tell "him" "to go pick it up"thanks, very interesting indeed though.. Ciao!
March 28, 201016 yr I took a Seneca I into KSEA just for the hell of it. ATC didn't like it too much but hey, what are they gonna do? Just a cool thing to be able to say that I took a small aircraft into a busy Class B airport.
March 29, 201016 yr A while back (year+) I watched a YouTube video of a guy taking a Cirrus SR-22 into LAX. ATC just worked him right in the flow and he taxied his way to the FBO's location, where the Cirrus was definitely smaller than most all the other aircraft sitting there.I'm sure I've seen these videos. Remember that a SR22 can hold its own on final... they can easily do 180 to short final if absolutely needed. http://www.youtube.com/user/clutchradisson#p/u | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
March 31, 201016 yr When working as a fueler at Denver Int' I have seen a C182 operate there a couple of times.
March 31, 201016 yr When working as a fueler at Denver Int' I have seen a C182 operate there a couple of times.I wouldn't happen to have been a Red/White/Blue T182RG by any chance was it? If so it was me!When we had work with United or Mesa we would just take the 182 in to bypass TSA.

April 1, 201016 yr I'm sure I've seen these videos. Remember that a SR22 can hold its own on final... they can easily do 180 to short final if absolutely needed.Actually, the problem is not the top speed the aircraft can reach on final per se; the problem then is to slow down the aircraft so you can be able to land. Kind of hard to slow down a single engine prop 100 knots in a couple of miles, me thinks. Ed OcampoStaff ReviewerAVSIM Online[email protected]Fly DC Jets
