The only one thing I hope is that I will not have to tweak anything anymore. I fly the sim for four years (3,5 on notebook and 0,5 on my new high end system) and 95% of that time I have spent tweaking it without a success and only 5% with flying. After so long time I am really allergic to tweaking fsx. I am beginning to be allergic to the fsx too. I bought the new system for 2000usd to play fsx normally without blurries, stuttering and low fps and it did not help me. I am disappointed wit this. This is how it looks on high settings with GEX and Global 2010 installed on my system (i5 - 3,2Ghz + HD5850 1GB + 8GB 1600Mhz Ram) http://img264.images...s/i/beznz.jpg/ It is very ugly and disgusting. If someone from MS reads this - make the Flight playable !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And watchable !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NO MORE TWEAKINGGGGGG !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Please   Angel.gif  :(  :(  :(

Karonlina, you shouldn't have to tweak so much with your system. Perhaps you should take a look at this thread http://www.simforums.com/forums/setting-up-fsx-and-how-to-tune-it_topic29041.html by NickN that describes how to set up FSX and your video card drivers. Or you could use a pay serivce like FS-GS and let them set up your operating system, drivers, security, FSX, and help you with an overclock if you desire to take it that far. Personally, 2 years ago when I built the rig in my sig I had FS-GS do the whole setup from top to bottom and have never spent anytime other than that day to tweak, which has left me 2.5 years of flying and 1 day of tweaking.

Hi Karolina,I agree with cmpbellsjc, you have a powerful configuration and you should find a way to make it run FSX. I have an old Pentium 4 and get acceptable performances. Even with the latest hardware, you still can't have every settings at max but yet have a good FSX experience.Don't loose hope, a few more tweaking, you're nearly there.Having said that I feel sympathy for you and I must admit that now that my system works, I have given up tweaking, it is good as it is and the tweaking circus is over for me.Take care

Agree! just look at the responses, look at that guide, it is more than laughable at the amount of tweaking time and setup time on top of an already deep menu. Bunch of waisted time. . . tweak tweak.. tweak...
With Microsoft Flight now on the radar screen I've been thinking about my investment in FSX. Having recently made the switch from FS9 ro FSX exclusively I have already invested a kings ransom in re-purchasing many of the products that I already had in FS9 (thank G-d for companies like FS Dream Team that give you both products for the same price).
Returning to the actual topic at hand...Mike - if you feel you are going to get 1.5 years worth of enjoyment out of an addon for it's price, then I'd say go ahead and buy it, even if it is a reinvestment into something you had in FS9. As MS Flight gets closer, the window of time for you to enjoy the addon may shrink down, depending on what we learn about the product and whether or not you plan on migrating over 100% to Flight. At this VERY early and speculative stage in the game, MS Flight is essentially a figment of our imagination, and is only real to the development teams, so I say go for it. Of course, if you are surviving on not having purchased a ton of addons, all the better! A penny saved is STILL a penny saved!

I may be in the minority here, but I am totally buying this the day it comes out, I will also buy Xplane 10, whatever Aerosoft makes as a Sim, Cascade Game Foundry's offering(if it's actually a flight sim), and whatever Sim Giants Makes(if anything).I would be way too curious about them not to try them all. And it's not like they kick FSX off my system. As for addons, I'll be a little bit more conservative, but the baseline sim I would buy.

Unless I can run my FS9 and FSX addons, I don't give a damn about any new flight sim. I am tired of chasing technology, I am tired of spending money chasing technology.I intend to run FS9 and FSX as long as there is an operating system that will support them. Enough is enough. .

I'd buy the thing, just to see what it is like. I think any mildly obsessed simmer out there is probably the same. But that won't stop me purchasing FSX stuff if I like the look of it. On the other hand, I turned the cash tap off for FS9 some time ago, and the only FS9 stuff I buy now, is if it happens to run in FSX and FS9.Al

hehe .. this sounds like the people that didnt want to leave the horse and buggy for the automobile, the ones that didnt want man to fly cause flight was only for the birds, .....didnt want to explore the planet, because they didnt want to fall of the edge of the earth,  :Just Kidding:I bet I see tons of post in the new Flight forum, from you, after its release ........

I'll buy it. I've got every original box since FS3, so I can't help myself, even if it's crap. Karolina, FSX should fly on your new system. Mine is running very well on a five year old computer with lots of addons. I understand your frustration in tuning FSX. It is very poor usability, but in the end that is the price we'll have to pay for FSX not being just another dumbed down flying game. I like to think of FSX more as a flight simulator operating system that can be tailored to many different tasks. They key is saving different settings for what you want to do with the simulator. I use a different setup when flying VFR with a small Cessna compared to flying online with a big and complex jet.
