I just did a 'static test' at KORD and amazingly it seemed to improve performance, at least sitting on the runway. You may have just solved another problem without knowing it, multiplayer. All other weather programs cause a problem in that the host cant run them or it locks out other players. I just tried it now with yours and others can now join with it running. I am going to do some extensive testing later today, so as of now, this looks like a winner. Thank you and congrats on a great little program!

I'm guessing other programs do this as everyone gets to use the weather for free.Since mine is free to start didn't seem much point in restricting this! The weather will only be set around 300 miles or so from the host and I beleive will not cascade updates. If you do host multiplayer sessions then check out my hosting software on the web site.

I do see one small issue, Im in Duluth in a blizzard with 1/4 mile vis, and the sun is shinning bright!

I'm afraid I can't look at it now, need to go to a pub to chill after a long week writing all this stuff.
Enjoy, you earned it!

Looks like you need to be in or switch to Windows mode after getting into the sim on an airport. You can then select either the default weather or the Open clouds, then go back to full screen if thats what you prefer. Once its running it updates every 10 minutes or so. There may be other options, I have only made 2 flights with it.

I've just put version 1.03 up on the web site.http://www.fsopen.co.uk/software/openclouds/OpenClouds.msiIt fixes a small bug that sometimes stopped the weather reloading. You can also stop and start the weather from within fsx.Procedure is simple.Start Open Clouds eiter before or after fsx.Either push the button on the app to start the weather or from the new menu item in fsx. The app will continue to get weather updates every 5 minutes. If you stop Open Clouds or exit the program the loaded weather will remain in fsx but no more updates will take place.

Many thanks for providing this product. I haven't had a chance to test it thoroughly, but I'm impressed with what I've seen so far. :(

Dave, is it possible to modify this to start/stop the program from within FSX instead of just stop/starting the weather?

I'm sure it is. I've always stayed away from modifying fsx files but I'll take a look. Also, I notice I'm missing a lot of info for the USA, I. Aim to fix this tomorrow on the database.

DaveDo you have to be linked to internet for metar updates. What if I just want to fly with my own preset weather. Dont always want to fly with real worl weather.I get an error when I try to use the app without internet connection.

Hi Dave,I am running Version 1.02 without problems on XP, however, running it on 64bit W7 I get "Exception received 14-WEATHER_INVALID_METAR". Both systems are running FSXA in the same part of the world, north Scotland.George
